Official Pakistan 2013 General Elections thread

Contest is really heating up in NA-56.

Hanif Abbasi has apparently promised his children that he will tie IK's hands and feet and send him to England by the first available flight on the night of May 11. :)

This is simple logic which no other party leader in pakistan could understand

"The way to do it is to take away their motivation, which is Jihad," he said. "If people are willing to die for a cause it is very difficult to defeat them." IK

Does anyone have list of candidates for each constituency in Lahore ? Rawalpindi? Gujranwala? Etc

PTI seems to be favorite in ISB

^ According to the info I have, PTI is strong in NA-48. But in NA-49 its neck and neck between PTI, JI , PMLN and even PPP with the financially strong khokhars.

It wont be easy

Imran Khan PTI Official Page Likes just crossed 600K figure. Huge spike in recent days where in past likes were incrementing by 1K per day but in last two three days they increased by 10K per day, which is a sign for rapid wave going for PTI

Such a disgusting poster, preying on the religious superstitions of ordinary people. Typical how Nawaz, today's 'lion of democracy' was yesterday's blue eyed boy of a military dictatorship.

PML-N lies caught ... PML-N supporters will keep on sleeping and will deny reality. Guy atleast have some self respect and dont support a party who lack even self respect.

Rauf Klasra has become a one man army all of a sudden. Explosive news, tweets and videos everyday, mostly against PML-N.

Bro couldnt find link as yet.Yes PTI could use it rather than PPP but we lack funds.PPP is somehow helping PTI cause ..they gave us disappointed voters who turn to PTI support and help in media campaign to destroy rivals. Win - Win situation for PTI.

:))) This proves that PPP and PTI are hand-in-hand against PML(N). Working together to bring it down.
PPP is financing whereas the PTI is campaigning.

^^

Kabi Kabi to lagta hai Zardari agencioon ka banda hai.. he is on mission to destroy all political parties of pakistan :)

By the way is that ad really airing on tv channels?
It isn't showing the PPP in a good light anywhere. I mean no mention of a Bhutto :)

How do we know it's PPP ad? Could be from any other party or agencies.

Watoo have already said PPP can make alliance with PTI in the center and IK could be PM. Not sure if PTI will agree to that arrangement.

I personally would not mind PTI, PPP, MQM and ANP in alliance with IK as PM. :)

Imran said he won't make an alliance with PPPP. I am a bit indifferent about making alliance with PPPP and especially MQM.

Overseas PTI trolls going back to the pind in order to vote

<iframe frameborder="0" width="480" height="270" src="http://www.dailymotion.com/embed/video/xzhu1e"></iframe><br /><a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xzhu1e_pti-overseas-arrive-in-huge-number-for-elections-expresses-anger-on-disastrous-situation-www-savevid_news" target="_blank">PTI-Overseas-Arrive-in-HUGE-number-for...</a> <i>par <a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/RohailAsghari" target="_blank">RohailAsghari</a></i>

Ofcourse IK will say that now, if he says that he is open to alliance with PPP than PML-N will jump all over it.

100 is the magic number for me. Whichever party can win 100 plus NA seats will be in the best position to form alliances and its hard for me to see more than one party winning more than 100 seats.

PTI must win in Punjab, no point being PM if Ganjas still rule Punjab.

If no party able to win 100 plus seats I think it will come down to some major negotiations and give and take. PTI with their history of being rigid and lacking in political savviness, it's hard to see them coming to power, so more than anyone PTI needs to win 100 plus seats to be in the run.

PTI will make a major dent in the provincial assemblies of Punjab and KP. Won't be surprised to see their CM in these two provinces while not being in power in the center.

The most logical scenario to me right now seems like PPP and PTI being in alliance in the center. ( if PTI agrees ) PPP in Sindhi, PTI in KP, PPP in Balochistan and PPP/PML-Q/PTI in Punjab ( if PTI agrees )

If PTI does not make alliance with PPP or PML-N than it could be a repeat of last election with alliance between PPP and PML-N in the center and PTI as the main opposition party, only PML-N will have their PM and CM Punjab may go to PPP.

So how many of the 148 NA seats in Punjab is PTI confident of winning ?

Province / Area

Total Seats

Punjab 183
Sindh 75
NWFP 43
FATA 12
Balochistan 17
Islamabad Capital Territory 2
Total 342

Sindh 75
NWFP 43
FATA 12
Balochistan 17
Islamabad Capital Territory 2
Total 342

You are adding reserved seats too.. Total elected seats are :

Punjab 148
Sindh 61
KP 35
Balochistan 14
FATA 12
Federal Capital 2

Total 272 elected seats.

Maximum 35 seats will be taken by PPP , PML-Q And Independent Candidates that's for sure in Punjab ( NA Seats )

Sounds about right. So out of 113 seats left, how many will be divided b/w PML-N and PTI. Lets say 50/50 to be conservative, that means 56 seats +/- 1 seat to each party.

Lets take Sindh:

Out of 61 seats, lets give 15 to MQM, 6 to PML-F, rest will go to PPP = 40 seats.

So that means PPP just from Sindh and Punjab (+PML-Q) is upto to 75 seats. While PML-N and PTI are 50-60 each.

Lets take KP:

Out of 35 seats lets give PTI 20, PML-F 5, ANP 5 and PPP 5.

That brings the total of PTI to 70-80 seats. And PPP to 80 seats.

Lets take Balochistan:

Out of 14 seats, lets divided them equally b/w PPP, PTI and PML-N. 4-5 seats each.

Still PPP leading with almost 85 seats, with PTI 75-85 seats and PML-N 60 seats.

So brothers, to reach that magical 172 seat number, I just can't see it happening unless some kind of alliance is made.

PTI + PML-N alliance = I think out of the question.

PTI + PPP alliance = ????

PPP + PML-N alliance = very possible.

PPP will likely only make alliance with a party who will allow Zardari to continue as President. Who do you think will be more pliable about that,

PML-N or PTI ?

BTW, I've just discovered an effective way to increase my post counts :)

sound assessment. You are wrong about Sindh thou as SMQ is a sure shot for atleast 1 seat, NA-230 :)

Key battle grounds are urban Sindh and south Punjab. If PTI can sweep south Punjab and make a mark in urban Sindh, they'll get 100+ seats

I counted the SMQ seat in PML-F total (in reality that is a PML-F seat)

PTI might sweep urban south Punjab but rural south Punjab will be very tough. Same with urban Sindhi, other than 1-2 seats, I don't see much happening there.

plenty of MQM seats are up for grabs. NA 248, 250, 251, 252 and 253. All lower-middle class to middle class population with no clear party affiliation. I do admit that there is little or no hope in rural sindh :(

So is Nawaz Sharif Punjabi that's why most Punjabis are voting for him? or is there legitimate reason?

And IK have strong support in KP because he is pathan?

I hope IK gets more votes in Sindh, don't understand/know why he isn't famous there?

A huge Jalsa in Khi may have swung the tide. With the security situation being so bad we are lookin at 30-40% voter turn ou at best. Low turnout will help status quo parties more than emerging parties like PTI who will need big turnouts and rock solid organization to get their voters out.

Btw, in my calculations I did decrease MQM seats from 19 to 15.

No, not really. Senior Bhutto and BB, both Sindhis have won Punjab by big margins.

Ok another question, how close was PML-N winning the last election? Do PPP currently have majority or have alliance with someone? Sorry very lazy to google.

nah, this city has seen worse situations. I guarantee you, we'll see upsurge in voters turn out in all constituencies.

Btw, PTI is very confident about their position in Karachi. Huge and massive PTI hoardings on all major roads and junctions. And no candidate mentioned on hoardings, Only Imran with the message "Peaceful Karachi, naya Pakistan"

Unique idea, it remains to be seen if that can translate into votes :)

Oh! Then how the heck Nawaz Sharif suddenly got famous, wasn't he TTP (Tried and Tested Politician)?

May be AZ can give us light on this.

plenty of voting pattern is based on ethnicity. MQM is the biggest example, previously known as Muhajir Qoumi Movement. (targeting muhajir ethnicity)

IK has support throughout Pakistan while NS is mainly popular in Punjab only and some parts of KPK. PPP has historically done well as a national party, getting good number of votes among all provinces

I recently came to know that IK has 'bat' as his voting symbol. :)) Shouldn't it be 'ball' instead. :yk I know bat is more visually catchy.

Nawaz has been a popular leader before. PML achieved 2/3 majority in 1997 election. Both PPP and PML-N have gained popularity due to other parties corruption and mis-management :)

My perception tells me without knowing anything about PTI's or other parties' policy that IK will be the most hard working PM if becomes PM compare to others, even if he may not be the smartest politician in Pakistan. Like you know Naive hard working person. I can see that grandpa is not faking, and honest trier. Wants more for Pakistan than for himself.

Of course this perception comes from the way he played cricket.
