Official Pakistan 2013 General Elections thread

Isn`t Nawaz the establishment man- a man whose whole career has been based on the patronage of the millitary men and a politician who took money of them(proven in a court of law).
 
A strong opposition can keep the government in check. A friendly opposition lets the govt. do as it pleases.

Even if PTI fails to make the government after May 11, it would not be the end of the road for them. The PTI supporters must keep that in mind.
There's still a life outside of politics you know :)

Dude, it doesn't work like that.

Even in the opposition with large number of seats, his party can still can make huge difference in Parliament. If the ruling party doesn't do well, Imran will have a chance again in the mid term election.
 
Where can I find a map of Punjab Provincial Constituencies? ie which village/town/city falls in which constituency?

I was watching an election program in which 4 candidates from one constituency were asked how many votes they will get and each said they will beat their opponents by 50000 votes :)
Do you want captain to say we will losy by 8 wickets or 5 wickets?

YES, that's how i think about it all as well. It won't be the end of road for any of us or even Imran Khan. He has mobilised the youth and created awareness so even Sharif's own supporters will not let them carry own the same business (educated youth anyway).
Strong opposition will keep the government on their toes unlike before so i am hopeful about Pakistan's future.

I think considering the mindset of majority in Pakistan, one should not be quick to judge a politician who is trying to slowly change the society. In a current scneario Imran had to say that otherwise he'll lose lot of voters. When it comes to the huge population you can not simply be upright and talk against majority. You have to win them over slowly. I believe if Imran is given power for 10-15 years then the mindset of society can be changed slowly by getting them rid of mullah's influence over the time.

Imran may well want qadiyanis to live and practice freely but for sure in current situation he can't take their side and a sensible qadiyani should understand this situation.
 
Qadianis have a big role in establishing Pti. Both UK and us chapters of PTI were headed by ahmedis

ECP is total BS, it will keep on taking notice, but won't do any 'karwaii' as such. So it doesn't really matter if ECP takes notice or no.

ECP ordered PEMRA to block PPP ads against PML-N .. So no more attacking ads based on telephone recording will be on TV

Obamas example comes to mind when he was against gay marriage before his first election but came out in its support before the second election. But again that happened because the general opinion of the public evolved over gay marriage. People of Pakistan will have to change first before we can expect IK to come out in Ahmedis support. Some leadership on this front will be appreciated though considering how many Ahmedis support him.

Lol, in the west they may not like wannabes but at least they won't kill them, burn their places of worship or desecrate their graves. Their example in 'Murcia' will be similar to how people in general treat the followers of the LDS church or Mormons. They would be an anomaly but they won't get treated any different. In fact one Mormon ran for President last year and lost manly because of his ultra rich robotic persona rather than his faith. Imagine in the west, we have a Mormon running for President and in Pak, IK had to defend his position about Ahmedis repeatedly just so he don't get considered to be a "kafir". Huge difference.

I am not sure if it indeed was a false alarm. All these jalas plus traveling must be taking its toll on his body. I hope he stays well.

It wasn't false. I saw Imran live on TV when that news was being covered, he was sweating like crazy, and there were a dozen people around him. Definitely not false. Off course doing 6 jalsas a day at 60 years of age, doesn't help health at all.

No, not really. Most people (except die hard jialayas) don't associate Zardari with Bhuttos' PPP. Maybe when Bilawal comes back this might work... nevertheless not a bad ad.
