Pakistan reach 64/3 in reply to South Africa's 615 at the end of Day 2 of the second Test

Kagiso Rabada (2/9) and Marco Jansen (1/14) made early breakthroughs in the third session, putting the visitors under pressure, while Babar Azam (31*) and Mohammad Rizwan (9*) steadied the innings with an unbeaten 44-run stand off 80 balls, leaving the visitors trailing by 551 runs.

Babar is poor overnight starter. I remember his battling Jimmy all day at OT in 2020 on a difficult wicket and then next morning, throwing it away. Needs to concentrate

Jokes to read that in the last 5 years, 600+ has been conceded on 10 occasions and 5 of it is by Pakistan. In an era where bowlers are dominating, Pakistan bowling attack continues to be worse than ever.

Going with all pace attack when the home team themselves are selecting a specialist spinner. Always feels like these guys think they're the smartest people in the room and are great at reading pitches but in reality they are horrendous. Pretty sure Shan even said after losing the toss he would have bowled first. The batters are garbage too and I am pretty sure we've never seen them hit 600+ themselves despite playing so often on Pindi roads.

It's just so disappointing man and I think there needs to be a serious re-think and steps undertaken to FC domestically so you can get the best results possible internationally.

My prediction:

Babar will score a fifty and get bowled.
The rest will crumble down the order. Lord Jamal will throw his wicket away Salman Ali Agha will play a 30+ run innings and then the follow-on will begin
Pretty much spot on

Easy to predict pakistans pathetic efforts these days

We will get our revenge when South Africa tour Pakistan in October. It will be spin and turn as far as the eye can see.

Pitch seems good for batting. Pakistan should try to bat out the whole day and go from there.

Pitch is good for Batting. it is just the batting lineup of Pakistan that is poor. Shan ?? LOL

Kamran and Saud failed as well.

Babar and rizwan should bat the whole day today. No excuses

It's so frustrating. Aaqib Javed clearly knows nothing about the differences between bowling at sea level and on the High Veldt in South Africa.

Cape Town is where Ben Stokes smashed 258. It's not a low-scoring ground like Centurion. You need a spinner holding down one end while you rotate 3 pacers at the other end, which needs to include one outright speedster (yes, Haris Rauf bowling 5 overs per session) and one tall left-armer (Shaheen is playing BPL instead of this Test???????)

Without any sort of attack, sheer weight of Saffa runs was always going to kill Pakistan.

This Test has been lost by the PCB and the coach, not the players.

Noman should've played instead of Jamal.

Rauf doesn't or isn't interested in red ball cricket since a long time it was only when they forced he played and was awful.

Shaheen yes, I do agree that he shouldn't have been sent away instead he should have played in SA and in such conditions but he's got his priorities on T20 cricket and not resting.

Babar will not get any easy chance to score a overseas test century . Flat pitch and Mulder , Maphaka are the bowlers.
Apart from rabada none other bowlers have quality.

yea 2 or 3 years down the line there will be a comparison between Babar Azam vs Constas where you can use this "Babar has a century in SA. Constas is yet to get"

Maphaka will get both Rizwan and Babar out

It's amazing how, despite getting destroyed in the Southern Hemisphere for 12 years, that PCT management don't know the obvious difference between bowling at sea level and bowling in the Highveld.

We need both of these two to score doube tons each to save this Test. Ayee boulna kitna asaan houta hai na.

2 beautiful shots from rizwan after getting hit on the helmet... 4 and a 6

Jansen is ala good bowler, so is Mahraj.

Will end up in a draw SA has another innings to bat unless PAK post 800+ and bowl out SA on day 5 or unless PAK gets out cheaply and SA forces a follow on and pak posts 500 on day 4 and 5

Love talks of double tons, let's get 50s first. This is SA bowling not Pakistan attack.

very flat deck - SAF made huge mistake dropping Bosch & Paterson for Mulder & the raw kid ... they will be lucky if they can get Pak under 300 !

Shame. This is the closest he will get to the flatties in Karachi and Lahore . Bobs should have made it count.

Well set to score an easy double ton

Now back in the dug out

Babar taking the debutant too lightly, that was a soft dismissal

Come on Mulder how hard is it to just bowl on 5th stump to legside?

Even in Pakistan he won’t get a road like this anymore now that we’re preparing turners, and the less said about his ability against spin the better. Wasted the best opportunity he’ll probably get for a long time

Still the best Test batter in Pakistan is Babar. Especially on SENA pitches

-497/5
Right my arguments are going down the drain 🫠🫠🫠.

Saud shakeel is the best test batter for pk right now. Infact it's safe to say that he and KG are the only test batters since everyone in the playing 11 are odi/t20 avergae batters pretending to be fc/test batters.

It's unfortunate as it shows how crap and dry the barrel is but it's a reality.

Babar is rubbish, can't even stay in his own test team at home den despite his pr power.

Still. He's better than our Kohli and Rohit currently at least in Test cricket.

“He’ll put the bad balls away”

“He has this ability to switch on completely”

Ramiz trying to make out that doing the basics is something only the elite can do.

Actually you're right. Saud is better. Forgot about him

“This pair has worked wonders over the years for Pakistan”

MashaAllah wonders means they make Pakistan a solid 7th rank side across formats

Reminder that the only match wining knock Babar has played in SENA was the 68 he got against England before his arm was broken.

Hopefully he's back in form for the Champions Trophy
Hes fine in odi. No one minds him their expect any few people who unfairly critise him.

An accumulator batting at no 3 with fakhar + Saim opening is a godsend. No 4 is an issue, and hopefully rizwan steps down for saud or kamran at that number who are more free flowing batters.

In test he sucks plain and simple. Just a bootleg azhar Ali batter. Same avg but worse overseas records especially in aus and won't retire with the same no of centuries.

He won't reach 19 test centuries. Or score a double centuries in aus, infact he'll probs never score a single test double century in his life.
