I think, game will start on time as the weather prediction looks clearing sky, or may be start with some delay but more or less uninterrupted there after. But it’ll be tougher for PAK because they are batting in morning session and English pacers are fresh. If Poms can get one of the last to remaining batsmen early, reaching 200 could be tough; if that batsman is Babar, 170.....

From Sky Cricket:

We expected it to be gloomy - and the light may well be the telling factor in the prospects of today's play - but at the moment the covers are also on. We're expecting a delay to the start of play but no official confirmation yet.

We should get 5-6 hours play today, that’s around 75-80 overs at least. This game should have a direct result as PAK is batting first. I would have put England in here and make it a four innings game.

Update : Start is delayed due to drizzle and bad light at present.

Ya Allah is it necessary to do inspection 30 minutes later
I mean rain has stopped go and do inspection and if light and outfield everything is good start this match
Why why why you are making this game hell please icc do something about this

Word just in that the umpires will inspect conditions at 11.50am.

Best we can hope for today is that there is 15 wickets in the day.
It can happen.
I think Babar should give himself 10 minutes of batting and start upping the ante thereafter. No point hanging around waiting for the ball with your number on it. Let's get up to 200 and have a bowl.
End of the day we need 20 wickets to win, and there is rain around.
With the on off nature of the day hopefully our quicks can have quite a few spells

Thank you. Finally someone posted this. Don’t see much point loitering about in these conditions with four slips and a gully waiting.

Would say that MR and BA should both start going for it soon as they have seen a few balls. Also, no Archer or Wood which means advancing down the pitch, trying different things should be slightly les risky. All 4 bowlers are swing/seam (line and length bowlers) so no harm in trying to throw them off. After all, they did to us, albeit in spin friendly conditions.

Something will never change. They can't cover the entire field so play can resume when its not
raining.

Play to start at 12.30 with lunch at 13.30.

Because obviously after 90 minutes wasted with more prospect of rain later on, it’s important to take a lunch break after just one hour of play :genius

Something delisous must be on offer

Great job match referees and umpires :salute

Thoosain gay nahi to healthy kesay rahaingay?

Cricket is run by morons and these crooks are hell bent to unpopularise Test cricket as much as possible. Sometimes I feel América is not bad always - if this was an Yank game, that match referee & umpires would have been man handled for this idiocy. We can get max 4-5 hours play today (after losing 60% of play in day one) and these buffoons will spend one hour of those for coffee and sandwiches.

Absolute lunacy!

Its not like there is an audience and they want them to spend their money on food etc etc....
There is literally no logic behind this and some people wonder why Test Cricket is dying...

Morning Session: 12:30 - 1:30

Afternoon Session: 2:10 - 4:30

Evening session: 4:50 - 7:00 (or 7:30 if needed)

Still can't believe pak decided to bat first

Won't be a draw. Pak can be bowled out in a session

Abdullah719 why isn’t Bein Sports showing this?

Yeah it’s absolutely pathetic

ICC officials are completely brainless and rigid. And then we complain about why Test cricket isn’t growing

Didn't look like it

They need to get themselves settled in again after the long break

It was a well judged single, and they need to be looking to rotate the strike, otherwise you are a sitting duck in these conditions and on this pitch.

What weather forecast are you looking at? The chance of rain is 10% for most of the day... The players still need breaks.

It's a shame that babar had to bat in bowler friendly pitches.

If these games were played in London, think he would scored really heavily

Tough conditions, ball getting extra bounce from back of the good length and swing from fuller lengths

Man these are not great conditions for batting.

Anyone else notice btw, how Babar keeps exhaling, probably by virtue of trying to concentrate hard and not let his natural game take over? Test cricket <3

Babar needs to play an innings like that one Kohli played with the tail in England a while ago

Babar is strongest on his pads and Jimmy knows it - what he is trying is to lure Babar driving on the up against swing and he has put a shot mid wicket for that. Probably best measure to counter this not to drive rather roll wrist and flick behind leg umpire.

Doubt kholi has ever batted in these type of conditions in England.

Weather has been blistering hot in London until today.

Pitches at the Oval and Lords would have been flat

I was looking at the Cricinfo weather forecast which suggests further downpours in afternoon session. Players indeed needs break, but not sure after 60 minutes play and 90 minutes delay...

I still think this is a high scoring wicket. The humidity is aiding swing, but the pitch is lovely to bat on.

It’s brilliant experience for Babar and Rizwan.

They both play too many balls outside off, the same mistake that Williamson makes.

Hopefully they will learn a lesson on this tour.

Not watching but looks like really tough batting conditions. Hopefully we can get around 250 and snaffle England for less than 200!

It is. Ball is shaping in air but not much off the wicket. We have got perverted watching 350+ ODI innings, otherwise most of the Tests in 80s & 90s on this track would have gone to distance, many ending in draws. If this this difficult then people need to watch Gooch’s 154* at Leeds against Ambrose, Marshall, Walsh & Bishop.

So much swing still into the 54th over. Tough tough batting conditions.
