What's new

Pakistan v West Indies | 1st Test (D/N) | Dubai (DSC) | Oct 13-17, 2016 | Day 4

InshaAllah 4 quick wickets at the start. Then bat for a session or so and set 400+

Precisely this.

Backing us to bowl them out in first hour- just hope no follow on.

Play like a t20 and add 150-200.... then let yasir and nawaz rip it tomorrow/last sesh

Strategy should be to A) bowl WI out in this session, B) get a quick 80-100 on the board and declare, then C) give ourselves at least 4 sessions to bowl WI out.

Hope the pitch will start to deteriorate and becomes more spin-friendly.

Amir opening ? should of given Wahab a burst first. Amir doesn't look that threatening

I don't see a result in this pitch. 3 days of cricket and only 9 wickets fell.

I think West Indies will be able to manage a draw from here. I am not sure that it has to do with the pink ball or the pitch, or maybe because Pakistan pacers have to support Yasir a bit more.

Amir seems to be the least threatening of all bowlers, and rubbish fielding by sohail.

If we don't get the Windies out in this session, it's more than likely that the test match will end in a draw. The pitch is flat as a pancake. Getting a team out in less than 4 sessions is next to impossible unless there is a brain implosion. The two sessions being held in the night time is not making this pitch break up as the pitch hardly gets any sunshine. Maybe for future D/N's start the match around 12pm.

Lucky for us. Dowrich missed a rank half volley. Just 2 more needed for 100 wickets.

not gonna lie I thought that would be overturned to not out

Massive opening for for Pak in terms of context of the game, we have to bundle them out in this session and with lead of 200 plus, otherwise this match has draw written all over it.

4th test after his return , I expected a bit of improvement from amir. His wrist is working more like junaid khan now , no vicious flick.

Attacking field for Wahab against Bishoo. Couple of slips, leg slip, short leg in place.

This really is a disgraceful pitch . . It hurts to see bowlers bowl on this . . If Pakistan can pull of a win here . . it would be a remarkable achievement . . 20 wickets on this pitch would be a Herculean effort . . UAE isn't renowned for good pitches . . but this is just ridiculous

Does anyone remember Bishoo's epic interview with Nasser Hussain in 2011 World Cup?

Holder gone, into the tail now. Let's wrap this up.
Hopefully within next 10 overs

We should look to insert Windies somewhere in middle of third session latest

Need to get WI out soon then bat 50 overs putting up 220-250. Give WI 15 overs or so tonight and the full day tomorrow for 105 overs overall to get ~450.

As expected, it's a race between PAK 5 bowlers and clock.

I think, PAK will take a 200-220 lead with around 150 overs left in the match. It depends how desperately Misbah wants to win - I don't think WI will survive 120 overs in last innings, but PAK shouldn't bank on that. Get 210 lead, bat aggressively for 30 overs & set 400 in 120 overs.

I expected the match to go in 15th session which should be the case.

what about misbah field placing so far...?
i think he is not attacking much..

I'd at least give a thought to enforcing the follow on if that is an option. Which may mean taking Wahab off. Amir's better with the yorkers at the tailenders.

Wow! Excellent from PAK bowlers, getting the opposition to 351/9 on this pitch is a major achievement. :yasir is awesome.

I hope this pink ball nonsense is stopped in UAE. There are no crowds and the ball isn't helping bowlers much either.

Well done Nawaz

Pak should have Windies batting Again by third session

Hopefully we can bat 40 overs or so at 4.5+ runs per over

I have seen little in last days, but 2nd day end was simply pathetic. Watched some high lights of Dharmashala match - MS put Kiwis in & started with 3 slips a Gully in an ODI with Pandeya the bowler - Misbah had 579 at hand against tiered side on field for 11 hours & he had 22 overs left for the day - he allowed an edge through 3rd slip in 2nd over ..... and PAK needs to win 3-0 to keep their points ...

lol, he heard you.
Haha amazing

This was real test of whether Nawaz can be a good option

I think he did well

Took the big wicket of bravo and instantly delivered when conditions became a bit helpful

And when conditions were terrible he was economical and kept it tight

Now we've bowled WI out in the first session, the second part of the plan to execute is a quick 100 runs on the board in time to insert WI back in for the final session.

Are you scared that WI will score 400?

What you are saying exactly would have been the case had WI been the coach.

I believe, now batters need to play purposely and make 160-180 runs, then have Windies bat again for about 10 overs tonight.

We are not enforcing the follow on :sanga

I think this will be a draw now :(

That would have been a terrible decision

Bowlers are tired after being in field for 120+ overs

Need to recharge

Pak should bat for a session and half and then reinsert Windies

Bat For 40 overs or so and target 200 runs at 5 per over, don't give a damn about how many wickets you lose in process, you won't get out inside 40 no matter how you play, and then set windies around 430 runs in 4 full sessions and then leave it to yasir.

True, I guess we should persist with him, because he can be used comfortably as 5th bowler - with time will learn and should improve. And not to mention, he adds batting depth as well. I guess on 5th day Yasir and him can win this game for us, because I believe pitch has started to turn more.

On contrary, I must say, it was disappointed to see Amir without a wicket.

Not sure if we need to put up that many runs - even another 100-120 on the board would suffice.

Don't see WI chasing anything above 250 on a pitch where there is rough for the spinners to exploit. Spinners are extracting some turn now.

Bro, they bowled 123 over, please don't try to kill them - then need rest.

In the meantime, aim should be to make quick runs (160-180) and have them bat for about 10 overs and all day tomorrow. Therefore, our bowler must need rest.

Seems like Misbah is convinced to get WI all out in 90 overs. Interesting.

It's the Cook scenario. IF WI manage to survive for 90 overs Misbah will get grilled every where in Pakistan, especially by the Geo media group.
