i wish someone like younis would just talk to malik and tell him to get the field in a bit. this is ridiculous

You grow into captaincy.

As long as he learns and improves with every match, I will be happy.

Unlike Inzi who made the same mistakes for 4 years, every match.

I agree with you. Its just a first game. You can't expect 100% right from captain to do right. Even Waqar had to take his words.
 
I think Malik has done a good motivational job today. The boys looked really down yesterday.

This could have been much worse, as I was expecting 600+

that is true..

and gul knocks de villers.. what did umar gul do not to deserve a spell.. poor captaincy has cost us 50 odd runs

450 is good enough score to win in this match.

450 all out scored at a rate 3.29. Just shows if we had gotten to the tail earlier, it would have been much worse for South Africa. Anyways, let's see if Pakistan can set up a decent total and remember how to bat in a test match.
 
i like malik but he certainly has a bit to learn. poor captaincy today. and crap fielding yesterday cost us too many runs but still decent work today. now what will hafeez and co do to completely loose it for us
 
gul was really underbowled ... he really was much more threatening then asif !!
 
guyz don't forget we still have to bat.. btw salman butt isn't coming to the inn.. so who do u think will come with Hafeez?

Agreed. More than happy with 2nd morning's play.

But it could have been even better...

My friend has a theory that we did not want to bat too early as Pak team was awaiting Butt diagnosis.

excellent fightback but too many runs given away cheaply.. too many easy singles and doubles on offer and too negative captaincy ..i hope malik learns but he needs to use the stuff between his ears if he wants to lengthen his tenure and be aggressive
 
just think if kallis wasn't dropped on 36 we could have gotten saffies out for around 300 on this "dead" pitch !
 
Pak will struggle to get even 300 I believe.

For SA, it was the grinders who made the most runs. We do not have enough grinders in this team.

In MoYo and Inzi's absence, we should have brought in Taufeeq.

It should be Gul and Asif. Since our openers are bound to fail. This right-hand & left-hand partners can't do the worst the current openers.

true and if we have the same type of pitch in the next match we should drop asif as he is wasted on this rubbish..
 
I wish Hameed was picked instead of Faisal Iqbal. Hameed could have played at three, and Younis at 4; as they did in Africa. Now with Butt injured, Hameed would have opened innings with Hafeez.

I'd liked to have seen Malik open. The captain should take the bull by the horns; plus he's openned before
 
I just hope Kamal Akmal (as zaheer would say) will avoid his FAVVIRITE shot Pull and endup mistiming it.
 
excellent under cut by Akmal for one.
he managed to thread the gap between the wickets and the wicket keeper.
some might say that is a very risky shot for one but i would counter and say that as long as he doesnt get out on that shot its good
 
another brilliant shot by akmal. threading the very small gap between 3rd slip and gully. Zaheer abbas think akmal should avoid these strokes but he is just showing his skill here
 
akmal looking like crap so far.. edge goes for four but could have very well been out...

The bowling has not looked threatening so far.

I guess you forgot the lahore pitch when India came here last time. Atleast, this pitch will produce a result.
