What's new

Pakistan vs South Africa...Day 3 from Centurion.

rana shud be taken out of the attack replaced by dk even if this is a new ball thts the only asif can pick up wickets

Time for Pak batsman to start thinking of saving this match. Our bowlers have really let us down - just amazes me that not one of our bowlers, barring Asif, can stand up and be counted.

Well Played Prince - Showing the virtue of application and sensible batting

also showed the virtue of having a dunce for an umpire on the other side to help him. How he survived the lbw shout is stuff for legends.

come on miggy ek do toh chalte hai ,, have u seen the bolwing also tht stuff is for legends also

Rana Naved-ul-Hasan* 12-1-72-0 Shabash Ranaai...with your little 2-5 overs help Prince would soon reach 200

The Saffies very cleverly not trying anything against Asif cause they know theres more than enough runs being leaked on the other end

Yeh thats the problem. Bowlers hunt in partnerships. Sadly, there has been no support for Asif out there.

yea very sensible cricket by the S Africans

Doctrove is incompetent MIG ..he won't give any LBW decisions ..But you have to admit that bowling apart from Asif has been lacklustre

Superb innings from Prince. For a quota player he's turned out to be a pretty good prospect in that Jaapie middle order.

World 11 from one end, and Abbotabad's 3rd's from the other!

Generally the quota players (Adams and Peterson aside) have become pretty good players after starting off quite poorly. Even Amla is beginning to show promise

Moral of the story - if you get into a strong position - build on it ..don't let the opposition get into the game by commiting harakiri -

Rana's done the damage! It looks like we will be playing just t o draw this game. Rana has given the SA's all the initiative, single handedly...
Well done Rana :14: :14: :14:

The performance of the other bowlers has been pretty depressing hasn't it ? Rana and Nazir don't even look like taking a wicket. What's even worse, the way they are bowling, the same thing is likely to happen in SA's 2nd innings.

Unless something dramatic happens, going for the draw looks to be the best option from here, and then start again from scratch next match, with Shoaib and (hopefully) Gul returning, we should do better.

International Cricket is not just about holding the bat and hitting the cricket ball..It is about understanding the game situation ..a bit like chess ... Pakistan lost the plot big time ...Hope they do well in the next test with Shoaib and Yousuf back ..But please don't include Rana ...not even as 12 th man

as nacho libre would have said there comes a time in everymans life when he has to wear scrtechy pants

no ball syndrome comes back

Got to say both batsmen have had lucky LBW escapes today.

Speaking from a Pakistan point of view from this position would you be happy if we conceded a lead of 120?

I suppose that would be alright then we try to repeat the Multan test. Although in that match the other bowlers at least gave something resembling assistance to Shoaib and Kaneria

Dhaanish has got to do something when he comes on! All we have with any reputation is him and Asif.

C'mon "mini-superstar"!

The wicket has eased up and SA are setting themselves up for a big first innings lead. Pakistan do not have the bowling stem the runs or take wickets, and I believe that Asif will also now feel the painful reaction of being out of competitive cricket as his body tell him that it is not fully ready for 5 day cricket.

The best that Pak can hope for is a draw in this match. Lets hope the batsmen have realised that they were not born to play hooks and pulls, and learn from Prince as to how to craft an innings.

Pakistan do not appeal as well as Australia. The Australians appeals are synchronised and pitched at the right level. They sound convincing. On a sub-concscious level it does effect the umpires.

Agreed. Only Shoaib from the Pakistani team has the ability to appeal in a convincing manner and get decisions go his way

Asif is hardly the most educated cricketer yet he knows exactly what to do in tough situations

Well nice to hear that Yousuf, Shoaib and Gul are back for the 2nd test. Now we can get rid of Faisal, Nazir and Rana.

Pardon me for being pessimistic (or should I say realistic ) ..But I don't see this game going into 5 th day .. SA will probably bat till tea and they should have a lead of 200 odd thanks to Rana .. I don't see Pakistan batting for more than 4 sessions sensibly ..Hope I am proved wrong

yea that's likely that you can't also underestimate the come back kings

92.1 Mohammad Asif to Prince, FOUR, banged in short, it sits up nicely, just above waist, on the leg stump line, Prince swivels and helps it to fine-leg boundary

frustrationg setting in now.

Once Gul , Shoaib and Yousuf are back - Pakistan will be a different team altogether ..Hope all of them are match fit

As the ball's getting older the last hope Pakistan had is gone down the drain. I think we'll be seeing lot's of Kaneria Hafeez bowling in tandem for the next 2 sessions.

Hopefully SA batsman lose their concentraion and give Pakistan a chance.

Don't really care about the other two...but they can't just let Rana off that easily. Atleast give him some solid beats before chucking him out the pavilion.

Not having much luck Pakistan. The third umpire rules in favour of the batsman. No winder the Pakistanis are looking bewilidered.

Are you suggesting that Rana Holding should not even be in the stadium let alone the team - when a Test Match is on

Shame really. Nazir took such a good catch but all of it comes to nothing, thanks to disgraceful umpiring
