Match Report:

A heavy downpour limited Day 1 of the third Test between India and Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane to less than 15 overs on Saturday. After being invited to bat, Australia ended the rain-affected day at 28/0.

Play was briefly halted by a light drizzle in the sixth over, followed by heavy showers that prevented any further action. Openers Usman Khawaja (19) and Nathan McSweeney (4) handled the new ball effectively in the opening session.

Its because of bounce. Indian players love playing short balls( not current Indian team as many of em are either too new and will take some time to blossom or their certified has beens) however the likes of rohit in his prime loves short bowling or chest height deliveries.

In pakistan they can't play bounce for the life of em. Pakistan's best test batsmen is saud shakeel and look at how he plays bounce lol

I don't think bumrah is scheming guy.in ipl he was obliging Pandya's direction as he was captain was pushing bumrah that he shouldn't listen to pandya.it was on air .

Looks like rain strategically came at the right time to save the home side after the Gabba humiliation of last tour. Nevertheless, I am still hopeful of a result in Bharatiya teams favour. Remember its not pink ball test anymore and so no party for Aussies. Only umpires and rain can help them now.

How do u think so bro.we were not even able to bowl on the stumps.it was staggering 97% of balls were outside the wickets.we were hopeless with our strong suit on a spicy wicket

How even average players did well under rhaane but our full strength team at times actually under performed despite having a good record under kohli
same with rohit now.
 
If India batted, the scoreline would be 34/3, with Rohit, Rahul & Kohli back in the hut! It was in a way good decision to bowl first (thanks to Rohit for this, there's a chance to draw this match). Indian bowlers lack intensity under Rohit, don't know the reason. Either it is this, or they lose all their steam as the series go on...

Bowling was never a problem under kohli.it was all the Batting due to pujara, rahane, kohli , rohit messing up crucial times and inconsistency.under rohit everything is a problem.

Ah yea bowling was brutal under virat. 2015 to 2022 is the goat Asian pace attack of all time.

But yes I mean players as in batsmen under performed cause of his moronic selection. Yet again.

But with rohit batting bowling fitness all went downhill.

Don't know what KKR coaching team rather Indian coaching team is doing there. There are some obvious strategical failures from this bowling group. Neitehr captain nor team management seemed to care. For example they had Rohit at first slip slightly deeper, Kohli at second slip. They were literally separated by 0 feet. It is almost like there was a wasted spot. Gilchrist and other commies were talking about it for half an hour. Don't think it reached Rohit. Only after rain break Dilip was talking to rohit presumably about this. But after break Kohli and Rohit stood at the same spot. There is a big disconnect between TM and team.

What is the need of any strategist to tell about slips position. Both rohit and kohli are international captains .they have captained ipl teams and saw enough cricket to understand it.it seems gambhir may have asked both to move out and coaching set up is non cooperating .Even kohli was giving pep talk before they came on field which never happened in rohits captaincy. Seems something serious is cooking.

Everyone took rohit as Inspiration for all the bad habits and team reached bottom. Its like if u have a crook and corrupt leader as pm why party members will hesitate about corruption.

Distinct lack of energy level, proactive measures. Akash should have opened the bowling for starters. He is probably more suitable here than Bumrah himself let alone Siraj. These are all not out of the box thinking stuffs Simple common sense stuffs. Not the first time he has made these kind of errors in recent times.

Our team has serious issues in overcast conditions


We just don't have swing bowlers. Bumrah cannot swing with new ball in overcast conditions. He is hit the deck bowler. That type. Same as sirsj etc

We badly need a prime.bhoobi or ishant

It’s not necessarily about coordination, but rather about creating the narrative and psychological pressure... The curators hyped up the 'green mamba' angle with those images and then suddenly changed the pitch to a flatter one right before the game... They knew it would rain at the Gabba, which would make batting first a tougher decision. It all seems like a calculated attempt to put him in a dilemma, as he probably wouldn’t bat first again after his blunder against NZ under similar conditions.

Rain is expected on each of the remaining four days of the Test at Brisbane.

Play is scheduled to start at 5.20 AM IST from tomorrow - minimum of 98 overs to be bowled if weather permits.
 
It is funny to see all Bangladeshis and Pakistanis stressing on the fact that India might go to WTC Finals. Had they shown this much commitment for their own team, they perhaps could have qualified as well.

As long as rohit kohli are there along with kl rahul india won't make it to wtc final regardless. If those 3 continue to play I hope aus hurt them and send them home and also destroy us.
 
Akash Deep should focus on bowling a middle-and-middle-off line to force the right-handers to play. Bowling 4th 5th stump to right handers makes it easy for them to leave deliveries or score freely on the off-side.
 
Aus batting team is a one man team. Its Head or bust. Khwaja is done - he needs to be dropped after this series. Maybe Smith too.

Akash bowled well. Siraj is the problem here. Reddy is not a regular seamer. Siraj has been struggling for a while. He gets a fifer somewhere. Then goes missing several matchces.
 
Bumrah’s legacy might take a hit because his bowling partners aren’t stepping up. Every GOAT needs a solid squad, but right now, he’s carrying the whole weight solo. Shami being out? That’s a major L.

David Warner has left a huge void. There is no one in the top order in this Australian team who takes the attack to the opposition. Steve Smith is not the same player that we witnessed from 2015-2017. You cannot bat like that against a world class bowling line up.

Aus need to find two openers. McSweeney is not one of them. Kawaja's time is up. They need to light a fire under Labuschangne. He may be taking his place for granted. Also need to find out what Smith wants to do with what is left of his career.
 
How come nobody heard that nick? Well, Kohli did, but there was no support. Smith is slowly getting back into the groove.
