If Gul or Asif fail to make it then Sohail Khan must play the tests vs AUS.

If that is the case, then I think it's a safe bet to assume he will play...simply because I can't see AAG making the starting line-up for the entire series.

PCB really need to be aware of the situation and not just hope there are no injuries and then start scratching heads when there is :20:

It will be very silly for them to assume that there won't be any injuries. The sad fact that the AAG attack has never been able to play a match should be enough of a clue.

I think if Asif is missing then he should be replaced with Rauf and Gul with Sohail. I think Rauf would be a potent weapon with the new ball.

Yep very obvious point but the injuries against India seemed to be such a big shock to the system for PCB, they were all over the place in terms of who to call up.

Sohail Khan's emergence has really been a lucky stroke for them. 3 out of 4 dismissals were bowled, the other quicks got 10 no-balls between em, Sohail didn't get a single one. :19:

Knowing our selectors, they'll either be replaced by Rao and Sami, both who are good odi bowlers but rubbish at the test level.

Both Anwar and Sohail looked very decent ...

Both were getting very good bounce especially given the way our dead pitches.

Sohail does pitch it up a lot. No harm in that so long as he is willing to accept a few fours in the process.

Anwar's inswing is still vicious, whatever little outswing i did see him trying was juvanile.

All in all Anwar & Sohail are far better than Niazi, sami, Rao and other useless failures

I heard he got injured. How serious is the injury?

Pentangular Cup: Sindh restrict NWFP to 203

KARACHI: The NWFP team was all out for 203 against the Sindh team on the opening day of the four-day match in the Pentangular Cricket Tournament hers at the National Stadium while the Federal Areas team piled up 301 for four against the Punjab team at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore Sunday.

Here in Karachi, the NWFP batsmen could not resist the bowling attack from the hosts and they were all out for 203.

Shakeel-ur-Rehman, batting at number 10, was the top scorer with 45 runs whereas fast bowler Sohail Khan captured four wickets, and leg-spinners Danish Kaneria and Shahid Afridi grabbed two wickets each.

At stumps, Sindh were batting on 60 runs for only one wicket.

In Lahore, Federal Areas batted throughout the day and made 301 for only four wickets.

Raheel Majeed scored a fine century. He made 107 and together with opener Afaq Raheem provided a solid start of 80 runs. Afaq contributed 40 runs while Saman Saeed (52) and Naved Ashraf (41) were at the crease when the first day’s play ended.

Who is this Raheel Majeed? Is he any good?

I can't wait to see Punjabs batting against a good and potent bowling attack!
Really want to see Salman Butt and Nasir Jamshed up against the likes of Akther! Should be a real test for Nasir Jamshed!

what time in Pakistan does the match starts

Late NWFP rally makes Sindh advantage slip a little

Monday, February 11, 2008
By Gul Hameed Bhatti

KARACHI: After putting the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) in first, Sindh achieved the objective of restricting the visitors to a small first innings score of 203 runs all out, on the opening day of their four-day, first round 2007-08 Pentangular Cup cricket championship match, here at the National Stadium on Sunday.

In much colder conditions than the seaside metropolis of Karachi generally encounters, Sindh captain Shahid Afridi decided to take first use of the early freshness of the National Stadium track and almost managed to bowl out the NWFP line-up for a total of just over a 100 runs.

This intention just slipped through his fingers at the end, as the last two NWFP wickets added 98 runs to a pathetic score of 105 for eight wickets down. Yet, the spirited reply that Sindh were off to, 60 for one, augurs well for the home side as the pitch continues to ease up and is certain to aid the batsmen from the second day onwards.

Sohail Khan, the top wicket-taker of the recent Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Championship with a haul of 65, appeared to have picked up from where he left in late December when he sent the stumps cartwheeling as the NWFP opener Yasir Hameed (5) and higly-rated youngster Riaz Kail (0) returned to the pavilion with only 11 runs on the board.

Rafatullah Mohmand (23) and skipper Younis Khan (12) lifted the NWFP morale a bit, but the Sindh bowlers continued to strike. Sohail took two more wickets to finish with figures of 4-65 in 18.5 overs and was once on a hat-trick. The only batsman to resist in a score of 105-8 was Adnan Raees, whose 30 runs came off 64 balls with six fours.

Left-arm leg-spinner Aslam Qureshi, who bats right-handed, then joined hands with pace bowler Shakeel-ur-Rehman in a morale-boosting ninth-wicket stand of 69 runs.

The 25-year-old Shakeel surpassed his previous highest of 32 with an excellent 45, off 94 balls with eight fours. Aslam’s contribution was 29 runs off 90 balls with four boundaries. Last man Fazl-e-Akbar took 18 deliveries to hit an unbeaten 16, that included two fours and a six.

Leg-spinner Danish Kaneria and Shahid Afridi too got into the wicket-taking act picking up two each, at a personal cost of 39 and 41 runs, respectively.

With Khurram Manzoor perishing early as Sindh began their innings, the experienced Naumanullah immediately got into characteristic action. His unbeaten 33 has taken only 42 balls to score in just over an hour with six hits to the rope.

The season’s Pentangular Cup championship is being contested among five teams, as the name suggests. Yesterday, Punjab started their match against Federal Area at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.

Balochistan are the fifth team in the competition. They will play their first match on February 22, when the tournament resumes after an eight-day break from February 14 to 21 due to the General Elections in the country.

I saw the highlights on Geo, The wicket has a green tinge wow, first time I have seen such a wicket, Sohail looked fast, but the guy has some injury problems, his shoulder was hurting, PCB should get him checked out as we dont need another fast bolwer laid low with injury.

given how much sohail pitches up means that ... he must be damn confident that he will beat the batsman for pace and a bit of inswing.

A very positive sign.

Fazl-e-akbar bowling like a Line & Lenght demon ...

I haven't seen him bowl one bad ball yet. No wonder this guy is a domestic king with the like of Farhat and Nazir willing to give slip practice all day long.

gone! Khalid latif goes for a wide short ball with no foot movement and caught at point

Brilliant catch .... in point region

Khalid Latif suffers a brain fart ... cuts a short and wide delivery ... and throws it away.

Adnan Raees the catcher ... Shakeel the bowler

Faisal in ...

Bhanja out

Sindh being made to work very hard here.

4 wickets down. Alam and Afridi need to put something together.

seems like an interesting game!

Glad that Fawad Alam will now be tested with his team in a little bit of trouble.

Younis's captaincy has been very impressive so far ...

Definetly on par with afridi's captincy yesterday ... until the tail started wagging

wasn't overly impressed by Afridi's captaincy, to be honest. He was devoid of any ideas or intuision during the tail wagging period. It's what you do when the chips are down that makes you a good or bad captain. Afridi didn't do anything to make me think he would be better than Malik....and Malik is a far better cricketer, so best to keep Malik as captain if Afridi is the only alternative.

Afridi is now taking Fazl-E-Akbar to the cleaners. 105 for 4.

Afridi gone to Shakeel Rehman

Fawad went to fazl e akbar ... showed bat to the umpire

110/6

without any fireworks?

some but not a whole lot ... typical afridi innings .. that you are used to .. a couple of big hits and a skyer ..

Anwar Ali edges to slip going for a drive outside off

119 for 7

Danny gone first ball

119 for 8

Shekeel ur Rehman is on fire.

his 1st class record is quite average. Why is he troubling the batsmen today?
Because there's a little bit of movement in the air and off the pitch. Give our bowlers just a little bit of help and you'll see strong provincial sides reduced to 100 odd for 8 fairly regularly.
Pathetic batting.

not particularly impressed with him to be honest. He is bowling a good line and is getting some movement but he doesn't have much pace or bite. Just the sort of bowler who would be slaughtered at international level.

I'm enjoying watching Sarfraz bat here.

Hopefully Sindh can muster a few runs here and get close to the NWFP total. Looks like the 2nd innings is going to decide this one.

Nicely swept for four by Sarfraz

130 for 9

oh then thats a touch disappointing because you a batting line up with the likes of Fawad, Nauman, Khurram etc should not have collapsed like this.

good batting by Sarfraz

he moves onto 24

Might be a tough question to answer but from what you guys have seen do you think that Sarfraz is capable enough to bat at #6 in test cricket?

Need to see more of him but in this innings he has looked very solid. Number 7 would be better for him in test cricket.

How many did Afridi make and how many sixes and fours were there in the innings?

he made 17

I think there were a couple of fours but no sixes (I may have missed a few balls of his innings though)

How is Sarfraz's batting guys?
He seems a compact, punchy sort of batsman. His sweeps remind me of Moin Khan, not to mention his combative style as a whole. Still early days, but he sure ain't no mug with the bat.

Sind is probably saying , oh where is Hasan Raza

especially when likes of Numanullah and Faisal Iqbal play ahead of him.

Naumanullah is one of the best batsmen we have at domestic level, he always performs and deserves his spot, so that's a bit harsh on him.

Faisal Iqbal I agree with you.

just wondering who selected the final 11 - afridi or the selectors ?

Anwar Ali bowls a booming inswinger that's going about 2 feet down the legside. Hameed gets hit on the move and the umpire raises his finger with no hesitation. Horrendous umpiring.

That's what worries me about Anwar Ali at the international level, even if he's on target the exaggerated movement will make it difficult for him to get lbw's in his favour

Where to get the live scorecard from????

Sindh were all out for 149

NWFP 89 for 3

Younis drives Afridi through the off swide for four.

93 for 3

Not sure

Younis and Wajahatullah batting at the moment. Partnership of 26.

Sohail Khan is bowling and getting some good reverse. Almost took Wasti's feet off a couple of balls ago but it ended up clipping the pad and going down to fine leg.

You lot are useless, not one of you is able to record this and post highlights?

(The fact that I dont know how to do that either is neither here nor there)
