South Africa (615 & 58/0) defeat Pakistan (194 & 478) by 10 wickets in the second Test to accomplish the series whitewash by 2-0

oh dear they take teh new ball and all batters look tail enders...shaan was struggling too i guess game over

Good knock from shan but he couldn't save this test.
No support from overrated saud loser and kamran Ghulam.

Some posters have their heart racing with Rizwan batting , specially the opposition camp Mr Rana

pak well do well just to make SA bat again.

That’s what the aim should be and at best this was the most realistic target that could have been achieved.

South Africa have bowled 139 overs continuously. Already a moral victory for PAK. And Rizwan, Salman and Jamal are still there to cash in on tired bowlers.

First win in Southern Hemisphere coming up ?

Come on. Now you are showing Ramiz level of optimism :yk

Shan innings turn the clock back to 90s :sachin , memorable losing cause 100

Saud tailender 4ft shakeel has scored 215 runs outside Asia in 10 innings.

so overhyped so overrated. He can't play bounce at all and he is terrible against seam swing as well.

Saud 4ft has the numbers of waterman sarfraz outside Asia.
Garbage terrible player.

Shan couldn't believe that Hawkeye showed it to hit him in line.
I also expected it to be, at worst, umpires call on impact.

SA commentators feeling defensive about the whole DRS process for some reason.

Greatest knock by a Pakistani in South Africa by far.
That's misleading. Saffers created a road a la Rawalpindi. Besides SL in 2020 at Centurion, this is the flattest pitch in living memory.

He couldn't survive 10 overs of new ball

First target is to make South Africa bat again. Then you never know.
They would need 200 from here just to get a lead of just 100. Considering how the new ball is behaving that seems unlikely. And even if they get there they don't have someone like Noman Ali to genuinely capitalize on South Africa's weakness against spin.

This is pure Pakistan though. Come back from the brink with an incredible comeback, and just when you start to believe they pull the rug from under you.

This is nothing compared to Gabba 2016. That was a real heartbreak.

They only needed to get past 10 overs with the new ball. The test has shown that it doesn't do much afterwards.

Still don't know if I can blame both Saud and Shan too much as they got decent deliveries. Saud played slightly away from his body. Perhaps could have left it but the previous ball came back in sharply so would have been playing in his mind.

Shan was squared up (as he so often is); had he stayed side on then might have negotiated it somehow. But it was a decent delivery that moved away late.

The only caveat to that is that SA are genuinely tired after bowling for so long. A few more overs and they'll very likely start bowling pies.

Rizwan and Agha need to survive till tea somehow.

The Shan ball stayed low too. With the pace and his height it was a practically unplayable delivery to negotiate. It was a practically flawless innings so you can't blame him at all I feel.

Even if they play out the day, South Africa will come out reenergized tomorrow. Just feel like there is too much time in this test match still left for Pakistan to escape or win.

There's 70 runs to get yet afor avoiding innings defeat.

Impossible I'd say

Well there should be one for Shan's batting average hitting 31 :yk

I don't want to make fun of him after his great innings but he is such an easy target.
I really don’t know what to make of Shan. People on here have a short memory but I clearly remember him being our best batsman in South Africa on one of our previous Test tours as well.

He often looks so good and piles runs in the domestics but has a habit of getting out early after getting good starts. I really hope, for his own sake, he can get that average up to a respectable 35 before he retires. He’s honestly not as bad as his numbers reflect. 2 150s against England, a match winning century in Sri Lanka and this knock today are quite memorable.

Bavuma is so lucky to have elite athletes like Rabada to run in all day for him.

Gets to hide his foolish decisions behind his bowling attack.

Salman Agha needs to play an ATG knock today. He’s a Test veteran by Pakistani standards now.

Civil award for Shan definitely after that stellar innings :yk

Inshallah next پاکستان Day

He played extremely well but still I would expect a batsman batting on 140 to somehow keep that one out.

His footwork today looked iffy on occasions. He actually was more decisive with his footwork yesterday.

But anyways this is how he always looks; nervous and somebody who just wants to poke at almost everything. You would hardly see him leave balls outside off stump after getting set.

Yeah I remember his comeback in that series well. And I agree, I was a Shan supporter until I just couldn't support him anymore because frankly speaking, the performances had been rubbish across a very long stretch. The match-winning hundred in Sri Lanka is probably his best knock. There are other knocks of note too like the 150 in England and some good half centuries in Australia. But he is an incredibly frustrating player to watch.

He understands the game well, clearly seems to be a hard-worker, looks good when he is in his groove and then he just gets out.

10 minute sightscreen delay to nearly chop onto your stumps

Brutal Pollock

“Don’t worry about the sightscreen, just focus on the kookaburra”

They really need to pace their innings now otherwise we are seeing 380 all out here

Valiant effort but don't see the lead going too far past 50 if that. Still to make SA bat again will be a big achievement

Pakistan need a minimum 260 from here to even make a game out of this.
I would be extremely happy even if they make 200 from here.
Highly likely that it wouldn't be enough but it would give the bowling attack something to bowl at - similar to Centurion target. Fighting total with Salman coming into play on an abrasive fifth day track.

Saud and Kamran both have been a disappointment in this tour when they could have really cemented their place

Bit of an ignorant comment from him. How can someone focus on the Kookaburra if their vision is impaired by some idiot moving in the background?
I have noticed that Saffer commentators are as much annoyed by this fight back from Pakistan as their team on the field.

Until you don't have an out and out express quick in your attack you will keep getting killed in SENA. That is simply a reality that Pakistan have to contend with. Nobody is saying that you pack your entire attack with 150 kph sprayguns. But having an attack of 120 kph trundlers is not exactly the answer either. At present, Pakistan's attack is one-dimensional and toothless. Abbas is the only medium-pacer that deserves to play in this attack.

Mir Hamza and Mohammad Ali only make sense as back-ups for Abbas. Shahzad atleast hovers in the 135 kph range and takes wickets.

The solution is simple - get Shaheen and Naseem to improve their fitness and care about test cricket. Otherwise downgrade their central contracts to white-ball only. This kind of picking and choosing when to play or not being up to the mark in terms of fitness is not helping anyone.

If someone like Musa Khan is doing well in FC, it might not be the worst idea to select him in that enforcer role either.
