South Africa (615 & 58/0) defeat Pakistan (194 & 478) by 10 wickets in the second Test to accomplish the series whitewash by 2-0

Rizwan and Salman need to grind it out and try to get a 150 run lead the pitch is flat bowlers are tired.

Try to bat all day today and see what the situation is tomorrow

I must say Maharaj's loopy 75kph halwa bowling has played a major role in Pakistan's fight back in the second innings.
Don't know why is he bowling so slow.

What a shot down the ground for a boundary! Keep playing like that with a straight bat.

Good fight back by Shan, Babar, Agha and Rizwan, but unfortunately at best Pakistan at best will only give a small target for SA to chase, and match could be over today.

If only Saim came into bat next, that would surely deflated SA, alas that will not happen.
Nevertheless better approach from most of the batsmen in the second inning and fightback shown will be admired and remembered.

This partnership is worth 69 now. Credit to both...they have batted well after the loss of two key wickets.

Gotta keep fighting before we can start dreaming.

-23/6 effectively

One more determined session and we could be in for a nail biter

The reason I am willing to cut Shan and even Saud some slack was because it was some good tactics from Bavuma to affect those dismissals. Prior to taking the new-ball, it was reversing and Shan and Saud had gotten used to playing the line of the old ball. Once they took the new-ball and it started swinging away, the batters were caught a little off-guard.

Need more help from our boy Dharmasena too. So far he has supported us well but I feel like he might not be so giving next time there is a close call like there were in the last session.

Not sure they had got used to reversing ball. Just prior to the new ball burst, Maphaka had Saud LBW (which SA failed to review) with the old ball. Even Shan played and missed a number of times.

To be honest, I was more relieved after they took the new ball, knowing that they just have to go past 10 overs with it and then it would become much easier than the reversing ball period.

He took the ball mid over as well and the sudden / more unexpected changed planted seeds of doubt, Bavuma’s a decent captain, praying for his victory at Lords

There was reverse but not prodigious reverse. I didn't see them bowl that many unplayable deliveries with the old ball.

The new ball was always going to be a difficult prospect though. Sometimes you know something bad is going to happen and still can't stop it. This was a case of that.

Ramiz was saying “Agha has a tendency to throw it away, he needs to support Rizwan”

This game has similarities to our first test in the 2010/11 tour of South Africa, which set us up for the drawn series 1-1.

Love your mathematics and the fact that you are more vocal when Pakistan are close to losing :ROFLMAO:

Like the ending of Titanic, he is not willing to let Rizwan go just as Kate Winslet.

I am hoping for a miracle, if they get a lead of something close to 150 and Abbas seams it like he’s in the middle of Portsmouth Harbour who knows.

Maharaj has bowled like Nawaz in this second innings
He has bowled too slow. The inability to pick up even a single wicket on a pitch with some decent turn is pretty disappointing. Especially for someone who has so much experience bowling in South Africa.

I am glad though that Pakistan got some modicum of revenge for being battered on the pitch and burnt under the baking sun in the first innings.

Excellent fight back by Pakistan. I expected them to fold badly in their 2nd innings follow on.

Unfortunately it is a bit too steep to overcome the follow on deficit. Pakistan will lose the test by 8 wickets. But it is still a commendable job by Pak to drag the Test into Day-5.

If the game ends today Riz might give a sermon in some 🕌 tomorrow, hopefully we will fight till tomorrow

Take aways from SA to Lahore

Shan still has gas in tank ???

Babar should be persisted with ??

KG needs to adapt in Test cricket ??

Saud needs to act like a senior pro ??

Riz still the numero uno keeper in Pakistan??

Fast bowlers getting extinct in red ball ??

Have to praise PAK batting here - with Saim batting, could have saved or even threaten a win here!!! However, bowling choices were atrocious - apart from PAK 1st innings, this track has produced 1000+ runs for 15 wickets at 4+ rate.... not sure what PAK tank was thinking for choosing a military medium bowling line-up with couple of part-time spinners.

Ideally, here PAK attack should have been Naseem, Shaheen, Abbas/Hamza and one specialist spinner who takes ball away from right-handers (SLAO or Right arm Leggi), backed by Aga.

Also, I think ICC needs to amend substitution law - along with concussion, if a player is injured serious enough not to take part further in the game, a similar replacement should be allowed.

Riz gone, but still Aga can save this Test with a 150 here, but PAK tail has to grind it out in middle - SAF won't like to chase over 170 here.

Only the opening batters showed resistance for a long time , after that wickets have been falling for every 15-20 overs..

Maharaj was desperate all Test match to get a wicket like that

Jamal has to be sensible here, there is no point slogging every ball. Focus should be to play around 150-180 balls without worrying about score

Kg, SK and Rizwan have been huge disappointments in this series. Especially Kg and SK who are believed to be saviours of Pak cricket.
Saud shakeel isn't a bad batter. Yes he's been dissapointing but he's an assest to the test team and his 80 runs in the first test on a decent pitch was good.

KG and rizwan have 100% been garbage this series though.
