Batting firepower is completely on Shanaka. There is simply nobody who can force the pace in that lineup. They really needed to pick Lasith Croospulle ahead of one of Nissanka/Kamindu to give a bit of X factor.

Their batting lineup is very weak for this format

I think it's a big factor that Sri Lanka is playing in USA. If they qualify to the next round. I believe they will become more dangerous in the Caribbean conditions

Even in Caribbean conditions, lack of batting firepower will be exposed. Their bowling will need to restrict the big teams to 150-160 every time for them to have a chance.

Srilanka like Paksitan are a thing of past, expect SA to roll over them

Sri Lanka start as favorites. They have good batsmen and bowlers for these conditions in NYC.

Pathirana at international level is yet to showcase his talent. Meanwhile he is a different beast at the IPL

Wanindu Hasaranga wins the toss and chooses to bat first. He expects the pitch to be good for batting. Says they've got seven batters and four bowlers in the side (two allrounders in the mix).

South Africa (Playing XI) - Quinton de Kock (WK), Reeza Hendricks, Aiden Markram (C), Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Ottneil Baartman.

O

SAF playing 4 pacers & IND have 4 spinners in their 15
India will still trouble. Jadeja and Kuldeep are great. Kuldeep has emerged as world class.

In NYC India might just start 2 spinners but in the super eight stage. They will need the other spinners as the conditions in Caribbean will be more spin friendly.

Warindu at 8 - batting too deep , I remember his batting at 6 in international games ! Should have been a bowler for Angelo !

Watching other bowlers make you realise how rubbish shaheen and naseem are

Sri Lanka have become a disgrace now even associate nations play better than them

SL are awful with the bat and selection of Thushara ahead of Madushanka might cost them. Also, SA play leg spin well while a few batters do have issues against SLA. Unfortunately, Hasaranga is captain and Wellalage was never going to make it.

SL really need Croospulle at the top instead of these guys.

First time when someone plays here will find it a little hard to score runs. It will take a while to get the pace and bounce of the pitch.

square boundaries are massive here. So expect into the pitch short stuffs. Full balls will travel.

This is ridiculous batting. No intent. Teams need to stop blaming the pitch for their incompetence

And that Aussie curator was talking about how this was going to be a true surface etc :ROFLMAO:

Pant bat really well in the warm up match don't know this is the same pitch

Pitch and outfield are rubbish regardless of the batting. Ball literally stops on the outfield.

This was seen even in the warm up match against BD.
Yea it is not just SL batting. It is the pitch that is completely alien to most teams. Even Indians were not all that comfortable here. Only few guys were good.

And that was a BD attack without Fizz and Taskin . This a full strength Saffer attack.

That is why I kept saying IPL / League cricket on horrendous roads make bowlers redundant & game boring . Keep the bowlers in play . 40/5 :)
