Today's match showed everyone why Amla is a cut above any other ODI opener in the world today. Sure, on a flat pitch they can all hammer some trundlers into the ground but when the pitch is difficult and the bowlers bowl well, only Amla can truly thrive. De Kock was struggling to maintain a SR of 60 while Amla was striking at 120-130 without breaking a sweat, for the majority of their partnership.

23 centuries, 30 fifties, at a SR of 89, with an average of 52 is phenomenal stuff for an opener. All this despite only playing 130 matches.
