South Africa finish Day 1 of the second Test against Pakistan in a commanding position at 316/4

In the 2nd Test against South Africa, Khurram Shahzad touched 140 kph, but I think it's a rare sight.

If that's rare, Hamza 138k is literally collector's item.

Dropping Naseem didn't make sense.

The version of Naseem who's playing cricket now unfortunately does not deserve to play test cricket. If they really thought of dropping him then they should have gone with Nauman instead of Hamza.

RSA announced their team yesterday & they had Maharaj in it so that was a clue which the entire think tank ignored. Now we have the dullest slowest trundliest bowling line-up & the one player (Saim) who I was hoping to see will sit out the test due to an injury. No reason for me to watch anymore.

I'm a bit salty as I genuinely thought that if we'd field well we'd do well in this test series but every tour is the same story, a bit of fight which frizzles away to a shameless series sweep. Then everyone has a collective lobotomy & they forget the horror show & we start going nuts for a mediocre player who bashes lahori chuqandars on a wet flat dewy ground somewhere in Punjab

The pacers are what they are.

What was the mistake by Shan and co. is not picking Noman for this Test. They are really missing him in these middle overs.

Made me laugh 🤣

Beg to differ though. If Naseem was picked in Squad he should've gotten both games.

Are you saying we should've gone with Abbas khurram and Jamal as 3 pacers?
That doesn't sound good to me.

Vernon Philander, during commentary on Day 1 of the 2nd Test between South Africa and Pakistan:

"It’s an easy-paced surface. Perhaps you need a bowler who can bowl at 140+ to speed up the reaction off the surface. South Africa will be comfortable with bowlers hovering in the mid-120s or early 130s. I feel that they (Pakistan) needed that one bowler who can push it a little bit at 140+"

Naseem isn't fit enough or good enough to play test cricket at this stage. He's overweight, injury prone, & has lost his zip.

Khurram has been decent, Abbas made himself hard to drop, & Jamal is pretending to be an all-rounder. They could have dropped Jamal for Chacha ji or Nasim & they went for Nasim & didn't even select chacha ji

This is epic humiliation for pakistan bowling units.

any test side should have at least 3-4 pacers if playing in SA and Aus, Jamal is a part timer I wouldn't count him

Ryan Rickelton is a proper player. South Africa have come on leaps and bounds in the last year or two and have a lot of options now.

Pakistan over rate is very slow.

50 over just in 4 hour . 40 overs still remaining but I don't think they can Bowl more than 80-82 overs.

As usual PCT has goofed up between formats. Long back, Taufique Umar, after hitting 3 hundreds (2 in SAF) in 4 Tests, was dropped within couple of years for his failure in ODIs - things haven’t changed much since. These Aga, Ghulam spin can work in white ball game, but apart from taking 1-2 odd wickets they won’t have much impact in Test. May be, they’ll restrict scoring rate bowling negatively, but won’t ever put enough pressure on batsmen.

SAF is scoring at 3.6 rate and they are heading towards 350 by day 1 - I’m afraid, Test is already gone. This military medium pace isn’t going to hurt them much with old Kookaburra, no spinner either - by second ball, at this rate SAF could be at 303-4!!!

He's a good player tbh.
I never expected such a player with pathetic body language will become suffers captian after watching players cronje, smith , Donald, Ab etc.guy have form issues since long time and he can go out of form in an instant like kl.

Another 100 runs by these two will go a long way in killing this game. Needs to bat big when you can and not throw away wickets.

Good ton here. Make it a big one.

This is a good batting wicket I think south africa learned take the pakistan bowlers out of the equation they will win by putting up a big total .

SSA Noman Sajid , 3 first choice bowlers for Pakistan missing due to various reasons not wise on selectors part

Aamir Jamal pace is down now. Bowling with abbas speed.
Such a shame this uncle AJ is picked just for red ball these days and cant even play 2 tests with full fitness.

On the other hand you have Bumrah playing 5 tests in a row and bowling at full pace!!!

Bumrah speed is also down but his release point is slightly ahead of usual release points so his Bowl came much quicker than expected.

Why? His avg of 37 is not different than many playing for India right now?

It's not like he averages in teens.
I don't compare him with Indian mo.they are downright awful past few years.i just compare bavuma with earlier south African big bats like Kallis,Ab , faf , cullinan, cronje etc. They will give you confidence to pull sa out of trouble but bavuma never gives u that .

@Buffet 37 avg is not much to talk.3 centuries in 63 matches and almost 35 avg against every one apart from bng and pak(51).It means he can't push himself or team too deep anywhere even on batting tracks too

Temba Bavuma was too cautious today in playing straight shots, and the Pakistan bowlers didn't attempt to bowl outswings to tackle him.

70/2 on a batting track. What else do you want?

And who are these non-military mediums? Naseem and Shaheen? They would be going at 6 RPO. Stop chasing imaginary pacers/dreams and come back to earth.
215-3. It’s not such a gotcha now is it? Toothless attack.

Let’s attack with 120k floaters - and that’s what you get. Floaters.

I wasn't hyping him for his average. It's not great.

I was only pointing out that his average is similar to many other players. Him scoring runs can not be a low point for opposition bowlers.

Everyone is not going to be big bats. Obviosuly Bavuma is not in that league.
