These bowlers are rubbish when there is no help from the pitch

you do know you are talking about Dale Steyn one bad series does not make you a poor bowler. You can applaud Indian batsman for their discipline in handling him but calling him rubbish is harsh.

Dhawan is positive as always, but should look to control his instincts against short ball.

Excellent start from Indian openers, just saw Smith's face in the slips, looked like he had already given up lols.

But why did SA arrange a Test on this venue when they know about India's strength?

Unfortunately for Steyn, Hafeez is not playing for India.

Good start by India . Steyn bowling with his heart out but dhawan has some other plans for him today. good crowd as well , where's energetic?

Very good start by India. (better than previous test)
I think with Sir Jadeja's lucky hand, we might do well here :)

Dhawan needs to be reconsidered as Test opener now. :out

Give him some time. It is his first overseas tour.
Who is the alternative then? (Gambhir or Sehwag? I don't think they would have done any better. Maybe an additional 20-30 runs biting some time. But how else you will groom Dhawan then?)

Need to persist with him or look out for other opener from domestic circuit (Vijay is not that settled either! So we have no options really :( )

Dhawan wasted a good start. I would not write him off as an opener outside India yet, but next time he tours he needs more work on his basics.

Can't see how the SA's will be able to remove Pujara and Kohli, both should look to go big.

I see that Dhawan has been found out again

I rate him highly , but you have to admit these guys have a huge advantage bowling on helpful pitches most of the time.

400 par score here , anything less its advantage SA as india will struggle to put pressure on them

South African God of Cricket (South African Sachin) is bowling for last time :)

We are playing too many shots for my liking , the pitch has enuf for good bowlers ...cannot gift wickets here

Since the introduction of Morne Morkel into the attack, India have scored 17/1 in 10 overs

Dhawan's horrible tour continues, he has not crossed 30 a single time on this tour.

A true SC player.

Vijay and Pujara doing there job of irritating bowler and tired them

And in durban there is always light problem in evening so 90 overs may not complete

Decent start from India. Dhawan not convincing away from home but it's early days.

The Saffers need to work out how to get Pujabradman out.

He handled swing well in England, but seems to have trouble against bounce as most of his shots have a pre-meditated front foot stride.

Maybe they have light problems in winter as they are on the east coast, but as it is summer there I doubt there will be light problems before 530 pm

By this over rate they r not going to complete 90 overs

What a terrible terrible pitch.

CSA should have done a better job planning for this and giving strict instructions from the curator.

Look at in India, Dhoni is never shy of demanding pitches that turn from day 1.

The pitch is utter crap, seems like Delhi

Lol even South Africans are not this angry.

Last time South Africa visited India, they got a green top ( Wanderers like ). Just because a pitch favours batsmen a little does not make it terrible.

I'm surprised to see so many people denouncing this as a dead pitch. It clearly isn't.

Good session for India, applied themselves well against the superb Morkel and waited for the bad balls.

I think Session after tea will determine the match ...First two sessions will b handled by good batting

How much will Pujara get? He appeared at home in the first test under more challenging batting conditions. A double ton cannot be ruled out here - Che has a liking for those tall scores if he gets going.

13* (31), early days...

Been impressed with Vijay. India should treat Robin as they did Tahir. Hit him for boundaries so the seamers get less of a rest.

Electron you still think they will score 300? To prove that true they would have to score 112 in both next sessions.

Vijay has surprised me and I guess most of us as well. Didn't give him any chance, thought he'd be Steyn's bunny like Hafeez. On other hand Dhawan has been very disappointing.

Yep. Peterson has to be utterly destroyed. Shouldn't give Saffers any respite here.

So far from watching this match live; the Pitch has a lot of juice in it, when Morkel and STeyn was bowling it was tennis ball bounce....... I am not really surprised Durban usually has a bouncy track...

The pitch is not totally batsman's paradise. You saw some balls jumping with good bounce and seaming away from Vijay's bat even after 20 overs. This will never happen in India (In India it will be only for first 6 overs at the most on a hardly made green top pitch with some dew and moisture and fog)

Why shikar dhawan is constantly failed in tests?

Mat Inns NO Runs HS Ave BF SR 100 50 4s 6s Ct St
Tests 4 5 0 271 187 54.20 284 95.42 1 0 47 2 1 0

He is just 4 Tests Old, still averages 54.20 with 95.42 strike rate :)

He has failed but not constantly failed.

Lets give him 2 more overseas tours (he deserves). I think NZ will be relatively easier for him to get practiced playing overseas....

I think Sir Jadeja should open the bat with Vijay so that we can play extra seamer in foriegn tracks ..Enough of trying Dhawan

^ What makes you think Jadeja can take on the new ball? India will reconsider Gambhir if Dhawan is not able to raise his game.

Even at current rr we will reach 270 ...first session is the shortest of all mind you

If wickets don't fall, I am sure RR will improve. (We saw what happened with Pujara/Kohli partnership the other match)

Lets hope Sir Jadeja is today's night watchman with India 350/2 and hopefully he completes his maiden century tomorrow :))
