Ok so the Y10K excitement is now over - back to business!

Big day for Pakistan if they are at all interested in forcing a result.

West Indies 286, Pakistan 201/4 (78.2 ov)

At Stumps on Day 3 - Pakistan trail by 85 runs with 6 wickets remaining in the 1st innings

Ideally, we have to try and bat out today and get a lead of around 200.

We should have at least 415 Runs by Tea Today.

Which is only 214 from around 60 Overs at ~ 3.57 RPO

If Misbah and Pakistan team fail will he retire or give another excuse to leave on high notes and play more series

Typical pak approach, gift the initiative and match on a plater by playing cowardly and unnecessary defensive batting which always leads to one result which is surely not victory, at least show some intent and put other team under pressure and let them know you are there to win not just to delay or avoid the defeat. It's not even about ability it's about intent and approach.

I am a bit busy today - is it possible to set run alarm in PP? When they scores a run, some how I can be given a notice .........

useless team, we need haris and raja rocket the 12 year old from a karachi gully who can play tape ball pace better than anyone..

No one is asking them to bat at 5 per over but 3 rpo is bare minimum these days no matter what unless you are playing blockathon to avoid defeat on 5th day. Otherwise with this approach even if they bat all 98 over they won't make more than 250 in whole day which will mean a lead of under 200 which will only secure a draw but won't give us best chance to win unless WI totally self destruct.

Even if there were you wouldn't have to hear that alarm more than 250 times even if we bat whole day.

I only started watching cricket seriously from 2007 so can anyone answer this for me - where does this Pakistan team rank among the most boring teams of all time?

Wrong calculation :)

In a 98 over day, there are 588 legitimate balls. 250 productive shots means almost 40% productivity. Even for a RR of 4, one needs only 25% productivity.

98 overs - 588 balls, @ 4 around 380 runs by bat (excluding extra).

In Test, around 45% is scored by boundary - it's a rain affected field, so may be 40% is acceptable - that's around 140 runs from 35 hits

6 X 2 = 12
4 X 35 = 140
3 X 10 = 30
2 X 50 = 100
1 X 100 = 100

147 strikes for 382 runs by bats, for 588 balls - that's just about 25%. I'll be happy even with 18%, which is more than enough to maintain 3+ RR

:) This game is much more complex than it looks

This is still a very successful test team. I'd rather be boring than unable to win against rubbish teams even at home like a certain team.

Among, top 3/4 in last 47 years that I have seen live or archive.

There was an English team (forgot which one, but boy, they were something), and the Indian team of mid to late 80s.

I get that but I meant the whole runs pak will score in simplistic way, but nicely put by you in full detail only if you could forward that to mickey the modern cricket Arthur, BTW so far they have out doing our expectations but don't think windies will keep gifting runs like this whole day.

If 196 overs are possible, I expect PAK to win from here on - don't see WI posting much 2nd time. Rain has made sure that there can be only one winner in this Test.

If WI doesn't make it 250/7 with this ball, PAK will post 400+, might even declare as well.

why Pak batsmen did not bat faster before the new ball was due?

You are really underselling pak ability of losing from unthinkable position. Expected better from you, or you you are counting more on WI ability of self destruct. Meanwhile pak batsman trying best to gift their wicket but windies have something else on their mind.

For CT? Do you really looking forward to it? Do you expecting anything but ttf brigade from Inzi the revolutionary.

I actually now expect few surprises. My hunch is, there is a massive struggle going between Inzi & Arthur, while Old Khan is usually trying to solve it diplomatically. 12/13 players are automatic choice by any standards - don't see Inzi thinking so much for those 3/4 spots.

He has used every card - even Kamran Akmal, so fitness can't be an excuse against Haris now; while he has selected Fakhar as well, therefore batting style can't be an issue against Fawad. And, he has selected Asif Zakir & Asad, therefore past record or domestic form can't be used as an excuse against Amin.

MMHS were you serious in claiming there have been more boring test team than this lot, I have strong doubts, or you was referring to boycott England?

I know WI a bit as well - Kohli set them 66 overs to save a Test; they went to lunch at 13/4 with 2 men out hooking ...........................

Can't recall, but some of the English teams in 70s & 80s didn't tour Asia for playing cricket for sure - they complained for every thing, they used every tactics to waste time & used every bit of pad to kick whole day long.

But may be we are being to hard on Inzi there is not much choice when it comes to modern day better only sharjeel was our half decent bet, even he is gone, so it won't mean Jake whichever ever grafter we put in, we aren't making the semis, only there to be in list of "also ran"

Gabriel has been bowling brilliantly and gets his reward. Shafiq gone...

Few things are fixed for eternity in life - tax, death & Sarfu coming to bat against 2nd new ball :(

Its about time Shafiq is stopped given this special treatment. Performing once a series is simply not enough.

What a delivery that was I think it is the first ball that started moving he got a wicket instantly.

There you go the best no. 6 in test history gone and future captain "sweep everything" arrived, but his customary quick fire 30 won't be enough as always.

That's why we need MoHa back to bat at 5/6. He has opening experience, seniority, and 5th bowler.

It's no brainer to bring him to replace Misbah.
