India scored most of their runs through one partnership, WI should look for that magic partnership.

Seriously pathetic performance so far from W.I batsmen who once again have let all the hard work from their bowlers go to waste. I can see them giving India a 1st inns lead here and that like 1st test will mean catch up cricket and a loss!

I think they should have sent a nightwatchman when the second wicket fell, see off the day, and then regroup and attack!

Must say Dhoni has improved a lot on field placings. A lot more aggressive now which is always cool :19:

Going good so far!

Just play out the last 9-10 overs and worry about the 1st inning total tomorrow!

Looked not out to me, compensates that Raina dismissal i would say

The so called Lara Jr. needs a LOT of work on his batting. Maybe its psychological or something..

huge noise and since there was no contact with the pad it was only bat and ball

Really? My feed didn't have any huge sound...certainly didn't sound woody. But I'm not complaining. If it was wrong, makes up for the Raina blunder. If not, then great.

And it's stumps.

WI have lost 3 wickets for 30. Good stuff from Indian bowlers :19:

nope there was a noise ..commentators also heard on air. They thought it was just off the face of the bat

had mithun got the outswing/inswing for bishoo on stumps he could have nailed him easily

I hope that WI manage to get a healthy lead in the 1st innings. The series has been pretty ordinary so far!

yes minimum 60-70 run lead because i see our batting fail again

Mukund and Vijay are major flops in this series.

After Gambit and Veeru, we do not have proper openers.

Even Kohli seems to be lost in tests. Dhoni doesn't seem to be interested anymore in batting.

Where is Pujara?

Good recovery from India, the batting is not so great without Tendulkar eh?

West Indies just cannot ever put in a consistent performance. They make some runs, then bowl rubbish. Bowl well, bat rubbish.

Which team's batting would be if you remove a player of :sachin's calibre?

Looks like this will be a bowling shoot-out of a series with India winning due to a more resilient batting line-up. (Note Raina and Dravid in the first test, and Laxman in this one)

we dont have players of dravids calibre forget :sachin

but our folks get the job done. We need 3 batters for us in tests. The way thinngs are going we have a pool now with vijay , mukund, pujara , raina , r sharma ,kohli not to mention rahane waiting in the wings.

our transistion in odis is complete and now for tests we need just solid batters. Above will be good @ home

I am encouraged by the progress raina has shown. Pujara will be back (damn ipl).

Fantastic day's play, India hit back after folding relatively meekly.

Should be a fascinating Test where bowlers rule. :waqar

It looks like the younger Indian batsmen will take some time to get ready for test level. Raina finally made it good. I must admit that I wanted to have him axed from the test squad based on how he suffered in the previous series. Dhoni was indeed right (why do I even question him), players need to be given time to mature into test players. I now strongly advocate patience towards Vijay, Mukund, Kholi and company.

None of them. But I have read a few comments here and there that India will be fine without Tendulkar, have heaps of world class batsmen etc etc. Of late, not only this series, Indian batting has looked quite fragile.

Congrats to Raina again, kid is showing heart and application in his batting. Which is more important than whether he can play a hook shot or not.

Just an observation on the opening pair - admittedly from highlights only - they both look to have techniques molded to suit low bouncing wickets in that they are kinda hunched over the ball so look in some trouble when the ball lifts up. Would be interested to hear the thoughts of others on this, my ex Indian now Aussie mate at work is a big wrap for Mukund but I just don't see class. Not like the Pujara.

Apart from the irreplaceable Tendulkar, the Indians are also missing Sehwag, Gambhir, aren't they?

You wouldnt hear that from me, the day SRT calls it quits the day I stop following Indian cricket.................

Same here.
:sachin has set the standard so high that after him it won't be fun following Team India
:sachin is our team :22:

Not sure if I would go that far, but it would be really be a big change. The first game of cricket I ever watched was Tendulkar's debut match against Pakistan.

Tendulkar to me has always been a part of Indian cricket, even when he is missing a match.

I wonder how is it going to be without him in it. Well, ........ will cross the bridge when it comes.

good job india. just 1 question when batsmen gets out in last over of the day isnt that supposed to be stumps?
why did bishoo come out to face just 1 ball?

It's not just Tendulkar, mate. We're missing Gambhir and Sehwag as much as we miss Tendulkar. Our opening has been abysmal in the series so far and the starts have been painfully slow. For instance, at the end of 14 overs, India's score was 14/2. With Sehwag, the pressure is always on the bowlers as long as he is around and even if he doesn't last long, he ensures that we accumulate runs for the period he stays.

Rarely have we had continuous series of bad starts. But, with three out of the top four out, our batting seems to be struggling.

W.I to be out for 120 odd and India to build a match winning total there after.

WI will find a way of messing this up.

Still funny to see the No.1 side collapse like their neigbours to the left might have done in days gone by.

Chanderpaul + the Tail are key.
