2015 World Cup Result | New Zealand fight to win by 3 wickets against Bangladesh

Good game of cricket. Well played both teams. But must say poor captaincy by BD, you never go with spinners in death overs lols.

Spinners got them into that position in the first place.
 
That was idiotic captaincy, should have brought Rubel Hussain on.

Was he trying to be a hero or something? Or did he think he was bowling on a subcontinental wicket that was spinning 90 degrees.
 
Lol this match still on? Nz should've won long time ago. I think Shakib is afraid of steyr morkel philander.
 
Great performances from Anderson and Guptil for NZ. And great performances from Mahmudullah, shakib and :rosco: from bangladesh.
Terrific match.

As I have kept saying, NZ will be Knocked out in quarters or semis. Had another team made 288 here they would have had no chance.

Woke up to go to the loo and checked score. He probably wanted to be a hero. Then again he did get 4 wickets but yes on a small ground against tailenders you'd expect to bring the quicks back

India have not chased anything substantial in this WC.
Australia have not chased in a long time in World Cups either.
Batting 2nd will be a nightmare here on end, stakes are too high!
 
Well played both NZ and BD. Seems like BD let the game get away from them in the end, but with experience they will do better in the future. Also they definitely exceeded expectations, so well done!

Lot of unjustified criticism of BD captaincy. Very easy to say "if they had done differently it would be better". I am sure if the fast bowlers bowled the last overs and BD lost then we would hear "that was stupid captaincy. when the spinners were keeping NZ in check, why change the bowlers".
 
Did Bangladesh Smartly choose their opponent in QF?

It looks like bangladesh loose this match to face india instead of S. Africa in QF which is wise in my opinion.....why use part timer at the end ....and not using rubel at end?????.....bangladest can beat india but their is no chance of beating SA.

Did you watch the last game, where Rubel bowled brilliantly in the death overs? Why would you, a spinner, put yourself on in the last two overs when they only need 11 runs. Especially when a tail ender would have a much easier time slogging a spinner.
 
If BD wanted to lose on purpose they would have let Southee and Boult run rampant at the beginning instead of posting 290 :)))

This match clearly shows why NZ should not be considered as top favorite to win the World cup. They are way behind Australia and India to play spin. I bet if the match held in Mirpur, BD would won this match by at least 100 runs.

They'll make the semis at most, but if they face Pakistan, it's goodbye for them.

Actually make that 3 superb wins, SL win ended a run of 6 straight against a very good SL side.

Apart from Pakistan both NZ and SA are my favorite. But NZ should be more cautious when playing spin, fielding was really poor and too many short balls. They should win this match by big margin to scare opposition
 
Hasn't been pretty but we are still winning despite it.

Bangladesh put up a good fight and have a better batting line up than Pakistan or West Indies.

Thats still in contention. The game was close due to the Bangladeshi spinners who strangled you. Other teams might start keeping an extra spin and could also do a deepak patel on you like shakib tonight. If you pass that, then we can agree.

Did you see the Test series against Pakistan?
 
NZ play spin as well as anybody in these conditions.

We lost wickets to spinners today because that is literally the entire bowling attack. We still chased 289 on the best pitch for spin in NZ by a long way..
 
NZ handled spin pretty well, apart from Anderson who is terrible against spin. Most of the wickets given to spinners were catches in the boundary, BD spinners are overrated. Main reason why this match was so close was because of Misbah :misbah Taylor, he was terrible against both spin and phaaast bowling

You are a second class india. You failed to beat india like you do every world cup. Your fans, former cricketers put india up on a pedestal and get shut down everytime.

It's the pressure of facing India in a World Cup which gets our boys but there no such pressure against NZ for obvious reasons . 😉

Yes that's why we beat them in their own country last time we played a series . Pak cricket structure might be struggling but there's more than enough talent to make the kiwis bottle it again in the knockout phases
 
I think NZ did well against spin, trashed Taijul, Shabir and Riyad, but surprisingly struggled against Nasir (the guy bowls seam and spin :)) ).
