What's new

Australia defeat India by 5 wickets in 1st ODI (Perth)

Unless Sharma does something ballistic i would question his innings after 110 runs.

Selfish play from the indian batsmen. They are rightly being flayed by Ch9 commies.

As I expected (posted in the warm up thread as well) our lower middle order is too weak for modern standards of LO cricket. We are in for yet another below par score after a pretty good top order work.

Even getting close to the score of 300 will be a big achievement from hereon.

Thats why Aussies are the No.1 team. If they can't get wickets, they'll stifle you. Great death bowling despite that 6 by Dhoni just now

LOL what?

The top order is a bunch of selfish clowns who won't even let these guys bat, but the fault lies with the one who did not even get a chance rather than the ones who wasted balls?

Exactly, Aussies are number 1 for a reason. We shouldn't be too harsh on our players because they are taking on the best side in the world.

With the extra bounce, decent sized ground and 5 fielders outside the circle, its not that easy to go ballistic, specially after being off-form for a while.

Harsha Bhogle was saying that Dhoni used his time off to hit the gym. He wanted to build his muscle mass to pack more power into his shots. Looks like it's paying for now.

I would think our top order batters played that long for that score mainly because of knowing how weak our lower middle order is in terms of hitting power(over the last 2 years).

300-310 isn't enough against this Aus side, they bat too deep.

We would win if we get to 300 though.
No you won't, all the Aussies need to is one batsmen to anchor while the others can go about scoring quickly. The aussies don't rely on one or two batsmen scoring big, they rely on one batsmen scoring 60-70+ while the others score quick 30s.

Not many can score 300 against AUS. They are the No.1 in the world and will never let the game away from them. India's got to bowl well and make a match out of it.

Self-fulfilling prophecy. I declare you are not good enough to play, so I play poorly and then you are at fault though you did nothing. Unless they get to play they can't be blamed.

Cricinfo : Rohit is the fastest to 1000 ODI runs v Australia. 19 innings. Ahead of Tendulkar and Lara.

For a change MSD makes more than a run-a-ball two digit contribution (a rarity these days).

Faulkner gets MSD

Great template of ODI batting by India. They are just continuing their WC form

Am i the only one who thinks India could have played a bit faster and been 330-8 instead of 300-4?

300 up, thank god (at one stage it looked like we wont get anywhere near this total)

People's expectation is way too much. How much you want them to score in last 10 overs? 200 or 250.
The quality of cricket decreased so much that no body give a damn of a team scoring around 240 and defend it.

If India had Shami, I would back us to win. But his absence makes this 60-40 In Australia's favor. :(

93 in the last 10 overs. This is after very good death bowling. Rohit's beast mode was a treat to watch

309 is ridiculous this should had been 340ish India needs to work on it LOI game.

Rohit bhai was sensational as always. Always wondered if he was Talent or Tailunt, in the last few years, he has proven himself to be a rare taltent. :uakmal

Rohit says 250 is a par score. Maybe the ball's not coming to the bat as much.

310 as a target looks slightly better than 280+ that they looked like settling in for few overs before.

Pitch is pretty good for batting and there isn't much there for the bowlers.

Looking forward to the bowling effort of Sran.

Brilliant from commentator "Kohli played brilliantly but sacrificed his wicket for the team" :)))

Boland was not good in this match. Tried to yorker but bowled full toss many times & Sharma always hit six on that.

Rohit thinks 240-250 a par score here, I thought 320-330 probably - let's see.
