Australia won the toss and elected to field.

Pakistan 263/7 (50.0 ov)

Very difficult to defend this total , the outfielder is fantastic and the pitch is flat. Will need some miracle today.

Need to bowl them out

Going to be tough

Think they'll chase it down with 5 wickets to spare and a few overs

Would need to be at our very best to defend this. We are around 40 runs short of a good defendable total

This should be pretty easy for Australia. Pakistan cannot afford to lose momentum with bat like this in modern cricket! The only way they can restore this imbalance (with bat) is by possessing most lethal bowling of world (Akram/Waquar/Imran/Saqlain) such is the batting standards today! But their current bowling is just on par with other good bowling attacks which I'm afraid is not enough!

Need some sort of Miracle bowling from someone to save this game now... It's all but over I am afraid :(

UA and Rizwan categorically to blame for the botch up :livid:

10-15 short. If we can keep Australia to within 50 in the first 10, we should be in the game throughout.

A run rate of 4.2 in the last 5 overs of Pakistan's innings with 3 wickets remaining at the end???

I have hope. Our batsmen didn't look like it was easy scoring there, especially at high strike rates. We also had a lot of luck and dropped catches to get to that total, it wasn't exactly like a collapse under pressure. And of course 260 or so is always a defendable sort of total, batsmen are still forced to play their shots, it's not 200 where they can just bat out the overs for zero risk.

I don't count him as a batsman in ODIs... Basically we sent a nightwatchman at #4. If things go south you don't blame the Nightwatchman do you now ??? But to be fair to nightwatchmen at least they would be able to provide a bowling option.

Should be binned from ODIs forever !! but our management is plain stupid so they can't apparently see that #smh

Need to bowl well with the new ball and the spinners need to keep it tight. If Azhar was the captain here we had no chance but we can win this

If people are confident of defending 260 odd on this pitch, imagine how confident they would be had Pakistan actually made 300 :13:

9 times out of 10 Australia would chase this with eyes closed brother.

It's that slim of a chance. The first 10 overs will make it apparent to you

Need some tight overs from Imad, Hafeez and Malik!

What I'm thinking. Aus struggle with spin, if those three can all bowl at around 4 an over, means that Australia will have to hit at around 7 per over against the pacers which isn't easy and will be forced to take more risks against the pacers.

Realistically Speaking, we cannot defend this total :( Last 12 overs killed any chance of a potential win !!

Exactly. People are underestimating our bowling. It's not going to be a walk in the park for the Aussies. We are short a few runs no doubt but it's not like the total isn't defendable.

We got Australia out for 220 last match. first match they got 268 because a 100 from Wade at 7 (which was lucky for them, if that had not happened they would have been much less).

We have a chance, it could have been worse the score. I imagine if the situation were reversed, people would be saying the game was lost and there was no chance Pakistan would chase 263.

I have to agree with you on this bit.

If Pakistan were chasing 263 I would bet my money on Australia.

There is more chance of Pakistan defending 260 odd than actually chasing 260 odd I am sorry to say.

Its the kind of total where captaincy comes into play. When a wicket falls you need to attack and get more. THats where Hafeez is much better than Azhar and we might see that difference today.

Aus should win it from here.

Unless we get 3/4 wickets within the first 15 overs including warner/smith then we in a good position to win. Even if Aus maintain a 6+ RR. 90/4 or better off 15 would do nicely

Hafeez would have been hated in tape ball cricket. Opening the batting and the bowling. That's a big no no

In this wicket I would've preferred Amir and Junaid opening, but let's see what happens.

Mistake for Hafeez to open the bowling IMO. Thinks he probably can snag a left handed wicket. Would be better if Amir did it. Hafeez's knack for getting the left hander is gone with the modified action.

Where are those people who were praising Hafeez captaincy based on the fact that he bowled Junaid and Amir together???

Oh what a ball. Junaid should be balling here instead of Hafeez. Look at that swing

First ball, what swing! Wow haven't seen this in a while! Beautiful ball.

lol, I remember people saying Hafeez would never open with a spinner like Azhar did, and he's done just that.

I'd only open with a spin bowler if the track supported spin (i.e. an asian pitch) when you want spin on as quickly as possible. You want you're most penetrative bowlers to be bowling at the beginning with the best chance of getting a wicket. And on an Australian pitch, that is your pace bowlers. And Amir and Junaid have been bowling well anyway. But bowling with spin early on, you're just wasting the opportunity for an early wicket. Use them more to restrict the batsmen later.

Amir becomes useless after his first three overs , hope he gets a wicket in his first three overs.

Last couple of balls have been drifting down leg side. Needs to get his line back in order

Amir showing why the pacer should be opening the bowling lol.

Don't understand this line from Amir. Bowling Middle and leg. Should look for the offside stump and try swinging it.

Amir needs to pitch it up a little more to get the swing.

I hope this 4 doesn't discourage Amir from pitching it up. The ball is swinging. Pitch it up.

Amirs first ball was pitched up and swung like crazy. For some reason, after that he pitched everything short of good length. Bring junaid

Junaid won't swing the ball. He's deadly when it seams. I hope this pitch seams.

It's funny Hafeez should have done the reverse. See if JK opening works, and switch himself on if it doesn't. Instead now the openers seem to have lasted the first five overs and looking more settled.

this is a completely different pitch

I see nothing wrong in hafeez opening the bowling. At least he tried something out of the blue

This is what Pakistani batsmen need to learn from Australian and Indian batsmen. Warner instantly realized he was in trouble with Amir so instead of looking to hit a four, he blocked and took a single. Our batsmen would try to see out the over with a maiden and in the process got out
