What's new

Australia v Pakistan | 3rd Test | Sydney | Jan 3-7, 2017 | Day 1

We saw how everyone bowled on green tracks and overcast in NZL. Asif was special i mean special.

Even Amir bowled well 7 YEARS AGO, he hasn't played an international match for 7 years. How can you be so sure he hasn't lost any of his skill?

Good job I'm neither Pakistani nor Muslim!

Any more of Imran's short-of-a-length 125K pies and I'm going to relocate to a different part of the ground!

Can anyone tell PAK dressing room that Aussies are good on back foot - it's better to make them drive? This is fundamental rubbish bowling.

Imran's bowling average which is so often quoted on here by his supporters is going to take a pounding if he bowls that short length.

Man our bowling attack is hopeless it doesn't matter if they bring them on the front foot... They have no pace and can not swing it!

Good delivery from Amir!

Bhai mere. Fish don't forget how to swim. Given importance like Amir. He would have out performed him. Asif was great with Red cherry.

Are you inventing cricket or think that none had seen that Test?
Both cloudy, humid days.

Both bowling First on a grassy track.

OMG Misbah really has checked out mentally, hasn't he? That midfield!

Misbah You gotta pack your bags and leave! Can't bat, Can't field and Horrible Captaincy!

Misbah you legend, "but no, i am not going to retire" so people better get used to this torture.

People need to calm down with Imran here. Poor guy finally has his chance, give him some time to bowl few overs and wait how he bowls. Being critical when he in and out most of the time.

Misbah, can;t captain, can;t bat and can't filed. Gave away 4 runs by misfielding and laughing.

I have seen every ball of that Test match - I wonder still how you are trying to sell those words like cloud, grassy track for both? AUS were 68/6 or something like that, & 4 of those 6 were not taken by Asif - first 3 by Sami.

Next time, I'll waste smne time to paste pitch/match report from that SCG Test - it's there in CricInfo - please allow me to watch the match.

Our seamers are incapable of discipline with the new ball. We waste it more often than not.

Even though Yasir's been bowling poorly, we'd have a better chance of maintaining control with two spinners with Asghar supporting him than we do with these three pacers.

And we thought our bowling can never get worse than MCG, man their is no limit to mediocricity

Good toss by Aussie to win. Pitch looks good. If Aussies picked 2 spinner means Aussies will be in for long day when pakistan comes to bat.

Where is the spray gun? Bring him on, it's getting boring without two bounderies per over, but oh wait,

Chris Rogers commentating on the hopeless field.

And did you see Sarfraz run up to the bowler. He's already taken over this team.

It's 25-0 after 3.5 overs. Why would I do that?

Because, you are trying to sell apple in the name of orange, here is the starting report of that SCG Test, which you didn't notice that started after lunch for rain.

The players are out in the field for the start of this match. Phillip Hughes is playing his first Test in Australia. Shane Watson is his partner, fresh from making his maiden Test century in Melbourne, he'll be taking strike. Mohammad Asif will bowl the first over on what is a very green pitch.

The playing times today assuming no further interuptions are as follows. Afternoon session 2.00pm to 4.20pm. Tea 4.20pm to 4.40pm. Evening session 4.40pm to 6.30pm. Play can go as late as 7.00pm if necessary in order to fit in the required 63 overs to be bowled.

Asim: "Haroon it's Sunday .. Relax :)"

1:08pm: The main cover is off the pitch and a loud cheer from the crowd present at the ground. The supersopper is out and drying the outfield. Ground staff removing the covers.

Haroon: "I have been waiting for this match for days now, and even that the time here is 02:40am and I have to get up for work at 8 o'clock, I am awake to see these two teams play, come on every one likes cricket even though its raining or storm, lets see some action !"

1:00pm: The covers are still on, the wind is blowing but there is no rain at the moment. The umpires will come out and have an inspection and hopefully we will have some play, stay tuned. The ground staff is out and working.

12:00pm: The players will have an early lunch at 12:20pm. The umpires had one of their another inspections under their umbrellas, but things remain the same. It does not look good, hopefully we will have the toss and play after the lunch break.

11:35am: The drizzle is getting heavier. While we're waiting for further updates, check out Cricinfo on Facebook.

11:08am: As the toss was approaching, it has started to drizzle again, the covers are back on, it is annoying for everyone.

10:50am: There are dark clouds to the south but it is expected to clear away. The umpires are out and having an inspection, the covers are being removed. There is grass on the pitch, dry patches. The umpires have gone back into their rooms. The heavy roller is out on the pitch and the mopping up operations are on, we might have some play soon.

10:25am: The outfield is a bit wet and the umpires will have another inspection in half-an-hour.

Good morning and welcome to the live ball by ball commentary of the second Test. We will get into some important news right away, Katich has failed a fitness test and is out of the team, Phillip Hughes has replaced him. Pakistan will be without Mohammad Aamer, he has been ruled out with a groin injury.

There was some rain early on, so play will be slightly delayed. Next inspection is at 10:15 local time.

Ricky Ponting: "We know what to expect from them, we know they have some very talented players. Last week we had their measure, up to us to make sure we start well again."

Mohammad Yousuf: "We're feeling good. There is no disappointment at all. I told the team, 'OK we lost but it doesn't matter. Don't let it get you down, learn from the mistakes you made'. There is still a lot of cricket to look forward to."

Imran 'line and length' Khan, what a rubbish trundler. Extremely pathetic bowling from him.

terrible start by pakistanis

their body lanugaue is down...they are looking dejected. and warner is hitting them like a butcher

Imran Khan looks awful so far. Bowled a couple of good deliveries out and the rest shocking. Miles wide of off stump, no swing, no pace. Warner's playing well but Imran is making it easy for him right now.

I've seen Imran Khan bowl a lot better when he was playing in a tour match against Sussex in England. His line has been non-existent.

I have never seen an India or a Sri Lanka team that Imran Khan would get into.

Chris Rogers on commentary saying how embarrassed he felt when Imran got him out in the UAE!

Imran at his pace has no business banging the ball in short.

He should go around the wicket. He's getting hammered here.

The first dumb ball by Imran - he is just not good enough, so I can bear with previous balls, but how can a pacer with 125km, can try half tracker to Warner at SCG?

I guess, NCA is going to get another Director for 1.7 years - Azhar Mahmood. I don't know how PCB appointments are made - even BCB could hire Walsh!!!!!!!!

Man can we just forfeit this match? And end this tour right here? It's just making mockery of whatever respect has left in pak cricket.

Haan bhai where are those that wanted this guy in the team?

PAK team almost surrenders if they are to bowl first. I was expecting something similar, wrote that in the pre-match thread; but this is beyond pathetic. Hope Misbah at least "contributes" Zero in this match - so far his "contribution" is negative 4.
