Sandeep it is.. poor choice.. he's too slow for situation like this..

RR 175/8 (20)

CSK 172/6 (20)

Rajasthan Royals won by 3 runs

Half-century from Jos Buttler, followed by two-wicket hauls from Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Ashwin, guided Rajasthan Royals to a three-run victory over Chennai Super Kings in their IPL 2023 match on Wednesday.

Chasing a target of 176, Chennai Super Kings were restricted to 172 for 6 as Sandeep Sharma nailed two perfect blockhole deliveries to keep Mahendra Singh Dhoni (32 off 17 balls) and Ravindra Jadeja (25 off 15 balls) under check.

Ravichandran Ashwin was the best RR bowler on view with figures of 2/25. Earlier, Jos Buttler scored 52 off 36 balls as Rajasthan Royals posted a competitive 175 for 8 after batting first.

Rajasthan Royals spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been left puzzled by the umpires' decision to change the ball on their own because of the dew in the IPL match against Chennai Super Kings, and called for consistency while taking such decisions. The heavy dew at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday night forced the umpires to intervene and change the ball during the chase, leaving Ashwin, who returned figures of 2/25, "surprised".

The Royals defeated the four-time IPL champions by three runs in a last-ball thriller, with CSK skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja unable to score 21 runs off the last over in their chase of 176 for victory.

Ashwin said he had never before seen the umpires changing the ball because of excessive dew.

"I'm quite surprised the umpires changed the ball for dew on their own. It's never happened before and I'm quite surprised. Some of the decisions in this year's IPL on the field have left me a little flummoxed to be honest," said the India stalwart at the post-match press conference.

"I mean, (it) left me flummoxed in a good or a bad way. It's because I think what you need is a little bit of balance," said Ashwin, who was adjudged 'Player of the Match'.

"As a bowling team, we are not asking for the ball to be changed. But the ball was changed on the umpires' accord. I did ask the umpire and he said we can change it.

"So I just hope every time there is dew they can change it every single time going forward in this IPL that sort of, you can do whatever you want, but you just need to be in a standard going forward," he added.

Punjab Kings vs Gujarat Titans, 18th Match

Gujarat Titans have won the toss and have opted to field

Teams:

Punjab Kings (Playing XI): Prabhsimran Singh, Shikhar Dhawan(c), Matthew Short, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Jitesh Sharma(w), Sam Curran, Shahrukh Khan, Harpreet Brar, Kagiso Rabada, Rishi Dhawan, Arshdeep Singh

Gujarat Titans (Playing XI): Wriddhiman Saha(w), Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Hardik Pandya(c), David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Alzarri Joseph, Mohammed Shami, Mohit Sharma, Joshua Little

154 runs is the target for Gujrat , this should be the right kind of total for Gujrat , they can take there time.

Two ordinary batting performances from Punjab Kings and they have now lost back-to-back matches.

Dhawan played a brilliant innings to save them from embarrassment against Sunrisers Hyderabad, but the Punjab captain failed to rise to the occasion tonight.

Gujarat Titans bowlers bowled some tight lines and lengths to restrict PBKS in the middle overs, and although Shahrukh Khan struck a few late blows, they could only accumulate 153/8 in 20 overs. Mohit Sharma was pretty impressive on his IPL comeback, and as a result of his wily bowling spell, Punjab couldn't post a total that was threatening enough.

In reply, Saha and Gill got them off a flying start, and although the former was dismissed within the powerplay, Gill anchored the innings till the final over. He was unfortunately dismissed by Curran in the final over, but Tewatia made sure to take them home with a nonchalant scoop over short fine leg.

I am glad there is PSL vs IPL debate.People were constantly posting about which was the better league.I have only watched one IPL game + a few highlights.IPL is ok but not the greatest league. It is the best league in terms of money. The standard of cricket is similar to other big leagues.I have said this before each league has it’s own fans so enjoy watching your own leagues and not worry about other leagues. The competition is between teams of each league not between different leagues.

Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya has been fined Rs 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Punjab Kings here. The IPL aims for matches to finish in three hours and 20 minutes, but slow overrate is proving to be an issue with several games stretching past the four-hour mark. "As it was his team's first offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Pandya was fined Rs. 12 lakh," an IPL media advisory said on Friday.

Defending champions Gujarat Titans registered a comfortable six-wicket win over Punjab Kings riding on Mohit Sharma's 2/18 and Shubman Gill's 49-ball 67 on Thursday.

The win, Gujarat Titans' third of the season, helped them claim the third spot on the points table while Punjab Kings are sixth with four points from as many matches.

SRH must look for a target in excess of 200. This is a brilliant batting wicket. 94/2 at 10 over mark.

That was terrible from Markram. Attacking every ball is not a good idea unless you are in the final 3 or 4 overs.

Markram terrific knock.

If this was an Indian batsman coming at 4 except for SKY, he would have looked to anchor the inning by playing a 35 ball 50 knock. Markram has scored that much in less than 10 deliveries.

KKR playing the wrong team here , should have played Jason Roy. Ferguson is a big gamble , better play David wisse , who is good with the bat as well.

Ferguson leaking away too many runs , KKR made a big mistake trading him. Sreeshant or Ishant Sharma would have bowled with more control

Poor decision to bowl pacer to Brooks. Harry was struggling against spinners and KKR captain decides to bowl Ferguson to Brooks.

Today the target will be beyond Rinku , he will not be able to play like that everyday , KKR bowlers have leaked too many runs here

229 is the target , this is extremely difficult chase . KKR will need two rinku like innings to win this , which is highly unlikely. KKR may come close , but target is a little too difficult to overcome.

KKR need to get the team combination right , four overseas players should be Gulbaaz , Jason Roy , David Wisse ad Narine. No need of foreign pacers.

KKR Indian players can't play pace and SRH has many of them.

KKR need 195 runs in 90 balls.

Required rate is 13 now , KKR far behind , the pressure of scoreboard is evident on them

Andre Russel is extremely unfit. All these WI pros have become too fat and loaded with money. They do not take fitness seriously.

Russell is useless , past his prime now , David Wisse should be played instead , KKR missing trick by selecting wrong combination.

Both Weise and Russel must be itching to play for CSK. They like all has beens and grandpas.

SRH 228/4 (20)

KKR 205/7 (20)

Sunrisers Hyderabad won by 23 runs

It wasn't to be for Rinku Singh tonight. The sixes still flowed from him, but it was well out of reach in the final over by the time he got on strike.

It's a wonder KKR even got so close from where they were at the start of the chase. Bhuvneshwar and Jansen rattled them with the new ball as they slipped to 20/3. But a stunning counter-attack from Rana, which started with taking Umran Malik to the cleaners, and a late assault from Rinku, who else, got the crowd's hopes up. But the death bowling today was a lot better. Bhuvneshwar came back to bowl a terrific 15th and 18th over.

Natarajan wasn't on the money the whole time, but he was good enough. And Umran closed it off after the early damage he took. Not to forget Mayank Markande's lovely spell through the middle as he took 2/27 in a game where 433 runs were scored.

Former India batter Virender Sehwag has lashed out at the Delhi Capitals players for their performance in IPL 2023. The David Warner-led side started their campaign this edition with four consecutive defeats. Lucknow Super Giants handed DC a 50-run defeat to DC in their opening game while Gujarat Titans beat them by 6 wickets in the second game. DC lost their third match to Rajasthan Royals by 57 runs before Mumbai Indians beat them by 6 wickets for their fifth loss on trot.

"To be honest with you, there's zero value of the staff that's present there. It doesn't matter how strong your team is, it's the players who are performing poorly out there. You can have as many great minds as you like in the dressing room, if your players aren't scoring runs or taking wickets, what they will do?" Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.

"I will never understand that. You have to pick players who can win you matches, and you don't have to direct them everytime. When you have those players, you can become champions. Delhi do have those players, but they're not scoring runs or taking wickets. You can make strategies, in the end, those who enter the ground have to perform," he added.

DC's batting has been the real concern for the side. While Warner remains the silver-lining in their underperforming batting line-up, the southpaw too has scored runs with a poor strike rate.

DC are currently taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore in match 20 of IPL 2023 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

What a performance from the RCB seamers to defend the total convincingly! RCB were really poor with the way they handled things with the bat towards the end of their innings, but that seems a long time ago now. Their bowling, which is often accused of not stepping up, bailed them out today.

Lucknow Super Giants vs Punjab Kings, 21st Match

Punjab Kings have won the toss and have opted to field

Lucknow Super Giants (Playing XI): KL Rahul(c), Kyle Mayers, Deepak Hooda, Marcus Stoinis, Krunal Pandya, Nicholas Pooran(w), Ayush Badoni, Avesh Khan, Yudhvir Singh Charak, Mark Wood, Ravi Bishnoi

Punjab Kings (Playing XI): Atharva Taide, Matthew Short, Harpreet Singh Bhatia, Sikandar Raza, Jitesh Sharma(w), Shahrukh Khan, Sam Curran(c), Harpreet Brar, Kagiso Rabada, Rahul Chahar, Arshdeep Singh

KL Rahul is still good as a batsman and he is not out of form. But his attitude is that of a loser.

43(34) is not good enough when you are 94/2 after 12 overs. This is more like ODI batting than T20 batting. Dude needs to get his head checked.

If LSG score less than 190 here, it is because of KL and Krunal's pathetic strike rates.
