Sikandar Raza scored a fighting fifty (57) as Punjab Kings chased down 160-run target against Lucknow Super Giants in 19.3 overs at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

Yudhvir Singh Charak, Mark Wood and Ravi Bishnoi picked two wickets apiece but failed to avoid a defeat.

Earlier, Sam Curran picked three wickets and Kagiso Rabada scalped two as LSG posted 159 for 8. KL Rahul scored 74 off 56 balls but lacked support from fellow batters.

During the match, KL Rahul also became the fastest batter to score 4000 IPL runs. PBKS stand-in skipper Sam Curran had won the toss and opted to bowl.

BREAKING NEWS! Rohit Sharma is ruled out in today's MI vs KKR game and Arjun Tendulkar is making his debut.

Unbelievable that Liton Das don't get a game for KKR. IPL always has massive bias against Bangladeshi players :po:

Jr.Tendu is an alright bowler. Seems to be bowling in mid 130’s. Will get clobbered when the swing dies unless he has a good Yorker in his skill set.

Lets call spade a spade, he is just another harmless trundler. The only reason he is getting eyeball bcoz he is Sachin's son. Check how many good fast bowlers Pakistan produces every year from PSL and we unearth brand new trundlers. Thats why when ICC tournament comes, we go back to Bhuvi :91:

Why is Litton Das being ignored again and again? KKR team seems to have bias against bengali players. Never took Saha in their team, dropped Shakib and now no game for Litton. How can we bengalis support such a franshise? Nothing Kolkata in it.

What is Kolkata about liton?

Gurbaz has done well. The next choice may be Roy. Or David wiese. Liton isn't going to get a chance anytime soon.

Although young and raw he looks to be overly coached. A made in a LAB sort of bowler or a text book bowler. Doesn't looks to have the natural instincts of a fast bowler. I think he should concentrate on developing his batting. Papa Tendulkar can be a superb coach at that.

Instead of bench-warming in the duck-out or staying back in the hotel, he could’ve been playing DPL.

I don’t follow IPL as much as like before many years ago it was free on ITV UK. When Shakib first played for KKR, I was more into it. Now, only follow or see if any, if there’s BD players, mostly highlights though. Last years IPL I didn’t bother seeing single live match. This time, was hoping Liton Das will get chance today consider Gurbaz had two failures.

If anyone thinks Gurbaz is better must out of their mind or don’t follow international cricket other their own country.

Sir. Am sure you know teams can only have maximum of 4 International players in starting XI. So if Gurbaz gets the drop you need a keeper to replace him, and Liton Das is a quality international experienced wicket-keeper too. Unless teams play a local keeper to bring another international player in.

As for Gurbaz doing well? Really? Have you watched all the games? He scored one 50 out of 5 innings that too wasn’t most explosive either. Liton Das can score that with less than 30 deliveries.

Gurbaz IPL so far:
8 (12) vs Mumbai
0 (3) vs SRH
15 (12) vs GT
57 (44) vs RCV
22 (16) vs PBKS

Agree bro, Liton Das is way better than Gurbaz. I think from next game they will replace him, at least hoping so.

KKR 185/6 (20)

MI 186/5 (17.4)

Mumbai Indians won by 5 wkts

Ishan Kishan (58) and Suryakumar Yadav (43) led the charge as Mumbai Indians handed Kolkata Knight Riders a five-wicket defeat in their Indian Premier League match at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. The fastest century in this year's IPL for Venkatesh Iyer - 104 off 51 balls (6x4s, 9x6s) - went in vain for KKR, who suffered their ninth defeat in 10 matches here at the Wankhede Stadium, and an overall 23rd in 32 matches against Mumbai Indians. The highlight of Mumbai Indians' win was not just their sturdy response with the bat chasing 186, but their key middle-order batter Suryakumar banishing batting woes with a 25-ball 43 laced with four fours and three sixes.

Suryakumar also stepped up to lead Mumbai Indians in the game in which regular captain Rohit Sharma played as an impact substitute owing to a stomach bug as MI won with 14 balls to spare, finishing at 186/5 in 17.4 overs.

Tim David struck an unbeaten 24 off 13 balls with two sixes and a four as MI recorded a second successive win while chasing.

The platform, however, was laid early by Kishan and Sharma, who went hammer and tongs from the second over onwards to add 65 for the first wicket in 4.5 overs, attacking the KKR pacers Umesh Yadav and Shardul Thakur in particular.

The first-wicket partnership looked ominous for KKR who managed to break through, with Yadav taking a fine diving catch at mid-on off Suyash Sharma in the fifth over.

Sharma fell for a 13-ball 20 with two sixes and a four after helping MI past 50-run mark inside four overs.

On the other end, Kishan brought up his fifty in 21 balls with five fours and four sixes. His charge was stopped by Varun Chakravarthy, with the KKR mystery spinner cleaning up Kishan after a 25-ball 58 with five sixes and as many fours.

The rookie leg-spinner Suyash claimed his second wicket in the form of Tilak Varma, in the 14th over, who played one onto his wickets after a 25-ball 30 (3x4s, 1x6s) having added 60 from 38 balls with Suryakumar for the third wicket.

Earlier in the afternoon, Iyer's maiden century in IPL powered Kolkata Knight Riders to 185/6.

The 28-year-old India and KKR batting all-rounder Iyer waged a lone battle with the bat against Mumbai Indians, recording his highest score in the IPL as well as this season among all batters, hitting an overall six fours and nine sixes to bring up the second century of this IPL edition from only 49 balls.

Iyer bettered the record set by Sunrisers Hyderabad's Harry Brook a couple of nights ago in terms of fastest century this season, who made 100 from 55 balls against KKR.

While Iyer, who injured his knee at the start of his innings while attempting a ramp shot off Cameron Green, dominated the Mumbai Indians bowlers, none of the KKR top-order batter could trouble the scorers.

The blow was indeed painful as Iyer, playing in his third IPL season for KKR, hobbled between the wickets to complete runs, but the pain eventually subsided which gave the left-handed batter a chance to play naturally.

In an innings replete with strokes hit all around the park, Iyer completed his maiden IPL century with five fours and nine sixes.

While most of the KKR batters did not last long enough, Iyer also did well to score heavily in his 48-run stand for the second wicket with Rahmanullah Gurbaz (8), 50 runs for the fourth wicket with Shardul Thakur (14) and 36 for the fifth wicket with Rinku Singh (18).

Nitish Rana (5) also had a game to forget with the bat, mistiming one to long on off Shokeen and walked away after exchanging a few words with the spin bowler.

KKR's latest sensation Rinku fell for a run-a-ball 18 with two fours and all-rounder Andre Russell freed up his arms, scoring his first double-digit total after three games to finish on 21 not out from 11 balls (3x4s, 1x6s).

MI handed debut to Arjun Tendulkar who opened the attack and got the ball to swing back into the KKR right-handers, sending down two largely impressive overs.

Liton Das is miles better and there’s no comparison. Das is class and only getting better. I can see he will be the next BD LOI captain after the two seniors in charge atm, he captained successfully against India. Decent thinker, seems to have a good calm good head on his shoulders.

The wickets in IPL are batting paradise. Liton Das must be dying to get the chance to bat on these…

Litton and Jason both should be played , Russell needs to be dropped.

KKR need to play 4 foreign players : Litton , Roy , Sunil and David Wisse.

Big ask for Rajasthan , considering the bowling Gujrat has , they need a very solid partnership here

Royals need 158 runs in 90 balls.

The game would be interesting , if these two bat deep.

Gujrat is the only team which does not bother about run rate , they believe in win and get two points , at the end of the day , if you win a certain number of games , you will make the playoffs.

Royals need 64 runs in 30 balls.

Match has potential to be another last over trhriller

Rajasthan needs to bat with sense , this is achieveable from here , just need to play the ball on merit.

Wow what a shot that was from Shami for a six.. followed by soft dismissal..

OUT

Shami strikes, this is going down the wire . Hetmeyer should be on strike in the last over

GT 177/7 (20)

RR 179/7 (19.2)

Rajasthan Royals won by 3 wkts

Shimron Hetmyer and Sanju Samson played sensational knocks as Rajasthan Royals defeated Gujarat Titans by 3 wickets in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

Chasing 178, RR found the going tough but Samson's 60 off 32 and Hetmyer's 56 not out off 26 took them through. Earlier, David Miller and Shubman Gill had steered GT to 177 for 7 in 20 overs.

While Gill's 45 off 34 provided a good start to GT, Miller's 46 off 30 gave late impetus. Abhinav Manohar also scored quickfire 27.

Sandeep Sharma was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2 for 25. RR skipper Sanju Samson had won the toss and opted to bowl in the game

This season has been a big hit. Last year it was actually a bad season for IPL with news of decreasing viewership coming often and even the stadium attendance was lesser and somehow the competition looked a little dull.

This year has seen good viewership, one reason for that is Jio Cinema is steaming this absolutely free of cost. So just about anyone can simply download the app and watch the action. Return of Home and Away matches has also brought back a lot of excitement amongst the fans. Every game, almost, is seeing full capacity.

One thing that keeps annoying me though is that stupid Impact player rule. I desperately hope they get rid of it next season. I find it absolutely rubbish.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) stand-in skipper Nitish Rana and Mumbai Indians (MI) bowler Hrithik Shokeen were involved in an ugly duel during the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 encounter between the two former champions at the Wankhede Stadium. The MI and KKR stars were reprimanded for breaching IPL's Code of Conduct in match No.22 of the cash-rich league on Sunday.

Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav, who captained Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2023 match against KKR, was also fined for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. Suryakumar has been fined by the IPL for maintaining a slow over rate in Mumbai's home game against the two-time champions. Since it was Mumbai's first offence of the season, stand-in skipper Suryakumar was fined Rs.12 lakh under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences.

Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders captain Rana has been fined 25 percent of his match fee as the Indian batter breached the IPL Code of Conduct during his side's match against MI at the Wankhede Stadium. Rana, who earlier replaced Shreyas Iyer as KKR's captain for the entire IPL 2023 season, has admitted to the Level 1 Offence under Article 2.21 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct.

Mumbai Indians bowler Shokeen has also been reprimanded following his heated exchange with KKR skipper Rana. According to an IPL media advisory, MI's Shokeen admitted to the Level 1 Offence under Article 2.5 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. The Match Referee’s decision is final and binding for Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct.

Siraj has morphed himself into a gun bowler. One of the best going around in all formats.

Huge support for CSK in Bangalore. I think people watch RCB games only to troll them, the real fan following is for CSK and MI only. Other franchises only make up the numbers.

If you are out of form, and out of cricket altogether (all grandpas there), just get into CSK Team, you will get back to form (Rahane). Harbhajan Singh was another example (I think he got a call back to national side after that if I have not mistaken!)

I don't think you follow RCB much! Nobody will watch somebody repeatedly just to troll them! Indian Cricket team was playing rubbish cricket in most part of 90s and were getting hammered by (forget SENAW teams) Pakistan & even Sri Lanka brutally... And I guess you want to say that the mass Indian Crowd were turning up to the stadiums then just to troll their players is it? (I guess 96 WC SF in Kolkata was a case where people planned to burn the stadium even before the start of match!)

RCB is a box-office team (more so in the past) with very entertaining players in their peak (Gayle, Kohli, ABD - these 3 players were enough who played for RCB at their peak!) The issue is with the stadium/pitch in Bangalore which is totally different than other 7 venues which disturbed the composition of the team and they never were able to form a potent bowling lineup anytime! Bowlers used to bowl defensively when they went away and became clueless when they returned back...

There is enough Tamil Population in Bangalore and they usually turn up to the lone CSK match played in Bangalore. (They may well book very much in advance) Yes I have seen this even in previous & older editions. It is just about regionalism and lingual patriotism. It has nothing to do with superior quality of CSK team and inferior quality of RCB team.

Also CSK vs RCB match is a kind of rivalry (just like Ind vs Pak) so it draws more crowd (especially in Bangalore where there is Tamil Population)

This CSK knows how to take the best out of their players. This Dubey guy used to look clueless when he was playing in RCB team. Same with Moeen Ali and others...

I don't think that yorker was 121 kmph (that slow) from Harshal Patel. It looked much faster...

230 should be minimum on this wicket and ground. Any half decent hit will travel the distance.

RCB fans coming in huge numbers in the stadium to watch their team lose again, they are like the Bangladeshi fans of IPl tournament.

Some real cheap knockoffs of Malinga playing in world cricket these days. They can have his bowling action. But the quality is worse than Chinese products.

Chennai and Mumbai have got really awful bowling attacks this IPL.

There are 500 better bowlers in Pakistan than some of the bowlers playing in this match today.

BCCI should have allowed Pakistan players , they increased the teams , that has made it necessary to bring in more players , and when you do not allow a test nation to have its players , it makes the balance poor.

Ben Stokes getting paid Millions just to sit and watch games live at the stadium. What a terrific gig he got :))

Shahbaz Ahmed lacks muscle to hit big. Guy is swinging for heavens, but the ball is not going too far.

RCB need 34 runs in 14 balls.

The match can be spicy , if RCB hit few lusty blows here

This is why it always makes sense that international cricket produces better cricket than any T20 league.

Having to pick 7 local players in every single team puts a cap on the overall quality. A tournament of the best 11 players of each top country is far better than a league where, for example in the IPL, the top 70 Indian cricketers must play.

This is why the club-league model in a sport like football is so successful and high-quality, such restrictions are not there (to the same extent). It is (basically) just the best 11 players from across the globe that the club can afford. I feel T20 leagues can never overtake international until they relax such rules.
