Duplu and Maxi are best batters for RCB..Kohli is an absolute joke. Babar would have done better than him in Bengaluru.

Duplu has retired from international cricket inspite of the fact that he is scoring runs in IPL for fun very year and taking catches like a spiderman. However, nobody is calling him out for retiring from international cricket.

In AB's case, he played IPL only two years longer after retiring from international cricket and yet certain folks don't mind criticising him by giving the nonsensical excuse of choosing IPL over international. If that was the case then he would have been playing IPL just like Dhoni and Duplu are doing.

This tells us that the player that is more significant and greater in stature is the only one who gets unnecessary hate from his haters and cricket fraternities. Nobody cares calling out Duplu for retiring from international cricket.

Why the h*** Faf make a way for Harshal (impact).. that's poor from RCB.. I mean he's one of the best fielder on boundary line..

ABD as a cricketer has a much higher ceiling than Faf. Faf is just a South African great at the most (South Africa has produced many such quality cricketers over the years). But ABD is a World-Class ATG. Just compare their test stats for better understanding! It is like comparing Sachin Tendulkar with Mohd. Azharuddin or Sourav Ganguly! Players like ABD/Sachin will always be under scrutiny for whatever they do (be it Sachin's late retirement call as per many people OR ABD's early retirement - see the contrast!)

So South Africans' sentiments about ABD's national commitments is pretty understandable! ABD decided to quit cricket altogether (even IPL for that matter) much before his body regressed, he wanted to go on a high, its his decision (and I respect it! Even I respect Sachin's decision to prolong his career - and it suited the Indian Cricketing Senses - at his time Indian Cricket was not that professional! But there is an issue with Dhoni's prolonged retirement. And we are yet to see somebody in India who makes early retirement while going well! Maybe we won't! Perhaps it will be Rishab Pant if he cannot ever come back to cricket!)

That was (if batsman crossed over after a catch and non-striker coming to striker's end) was such a huge advantage to batting side. This rule should have been changed long back!

Royal Challengers Bangalore win by 7 runs

It was a rollercoaster of a final over. Plenty happened in it but one thing which left many scratching their head is Ashwin taking the bulk of the strike in the last over instead of Jurell and Holder being not sent at the end.

The first 10 overs went quite smoothly for the Royals however, in the next 10 they completely lost the momentum and could not get it back. Hetmyar would be looking back at his knock at that stage of the game and wondering what he could have done better.

RCB bowlers have bowled decently on a slow surface and Harshal was excellent on the night. Kohli was spot-on with his bowling changes and tactics back-to-back wins for RCB now.

Looks like this is the most competitive season. But I still want just 8 teams and make it even more competitive...

7 of the 13 overs there had been a boundary on the last ball or one before the last ball to spoil the good overs

KKR has been toothless.

The likes of Dubey are striking at 300, the quality of this IPL is total crap.

Dube is having a great season. However, he is still a hack of the highest grade like Ishan Kishan.

Rahane making a case for his inclusion in the T20 squad of India. He reinvented himself this season. All proper shots.

I don't know, some khejroliya, suyash, prabhudesai, taide, so many Singhs , some back from the dead Amit Mishra, Piyush Chawla ...just about anyone is playing ... I've certainly seen very high quality seasons in the past. This is just not done.

Competitive doesn't necessarily mean quality. Two school teams of similar level will produce a competitive game, doesn't have to mean they are high quality.

It will be another mess like we tried with DK, Rayudu, Vijay Shankar, etc. Just enjoy what they do here and leave it there...

But we have to admire the way CSK takes the best out of old grandpas... There are plenty actually (Dhoni, Watson, Harbhajan, Raina, etc, etc. and now Rahane...)

The hype with Dhoni must end. He hides behind Jadeja and tries to be a hero by blasting a couple in the 19th over.

Very very disappointing bowling for KKR , they have completely disintegrated as a Team , Pandit came a s a coach with great reputation , but has failed badly.

KKR should not have retained those players , should have gone for complete change. The opening slot is not fixed , too many pseudo all rounders , who are bogus with bat , No proper strike fast bowler.

Nothing a coach can do if the bowlers are Khejrolia, Weise, Umesh etc. These are club level bowlers.

How is David Weise still playing cricket. He was always mediocre and now he is parading as some sort of mentor and father figure in all T20 leagues.

Once Rahul Gandhi famously said - "Aisi machine banaunga, idhar se aloo dalunga...udhar se sona niklega"

I am not sure if CSK and Dhoni has bought that Aloo Se Sona waala machine bcoz every player enter into CSK as out of form/expired, comes out as champion. Take Rahane for example, was benched in Rajasthan team to eventually being dropped, joins CSK and suddenly a transformed batsman. Same goes for Shivam Dubey who couldnt buy a run for RCB and look how well he is playing now. Same is the case for Moeen Ali...list goes on and on. And its not only this year, it always happen that any player goes into CSK turns out to be better.

Finally that Aloo se Sona wala machine that Pappu ji was talking about has been built in CSK camp.

:kp

KKR need to go and have a look at there squad and come with better plan in the big auction. They need to look to change the majority of the squad.

Rahane was with KKR last year :))

Rahane was with KKR last year :))

But you get my point right? Take out Rahane tomorrow and put him into a seperate team, he will stop performing. There is some weird machine in CSK camp that led to players performing over their potential. I am observing it from 2012-13 when Dwayne Smith was let go by Mumbai Indians for non-performance, joins CSK and was a totally transformed player.

I agree , the evidence is overwhelming.

Rinku and Jason Roy have batted well here , BUT KKR bowling has been absolutely disgrace , despite having a bowling coach like Arun.

KKR could have chased 200 here , but this much was never in radar.

The team has been showing lack of planning right from Maccullum times. KKR has been throughtout since then inconsistent and reckless in their approach.

Almost the perfect game for CSK. They travelled to Eden Gardens, dwarfed the home support by having a sea of yellow in the crowd and dished out a performance to match that support.

Ruturaj and Devon Conway gave CSK a fiery powerplay start, with the latter getting another fifty. And then the innings was shaped by two somewhat forgotten men prior to this IPL.

Shivam Dube and Ajinkya Rahane - two Mumbai born batters playing for Chennai, came to the Eden and absolutely smoked Kolkata.

They have a very poor team management. They released players like Gill to retain someone like Russell.

They bought Shardul thakur for 10cr.

They had previously released the likes of SKY and Boult

Another question, from where does CSK unhearth these fast bowlers? Never heard their names before, no proper domestic/U19 performance, makes debut for CSK and suddenly looks top prospect.

Manpreet Gony - 2008
Mohit Sharma - 2014
Deepak Chahar - 2018
Akash Singh - 2023

Either this franchise is extremely good in talent scouting...OR.....

Akash singh played the 2020 u19 WC for India.

Deepak chahar took 8 wickets for 10 runs as Hyderabad was bowled out for 21. The lowest score in ranji history.

These are well known domestic guys

Gill was not playing well at that time.

Yes bringing in Shradul and Ferguson at such high price was a big mistake. They should have waited for the auction.

The main problem is that they should hot have retained any players and should have gone fresh in the auction. Russell is way over ratted.

Players like Andre Russell and Sunil Narine will never do well because firstly they are past their best date, secondly they don't play any international cricket and hence they don't stay at the same level and keep regressing. Teams need to invest in young and inform players, esp players who are doing well internationally. For example SRH picked the right players in Markram, Brook, Jansen, it's a surprise they haven't done well but their selections are justified.

Russel is a disgrace. Most of these West Indies players are fat and unathletic. They cannot run and all they can do is try to hit big sixes. They are failing miserably. Russel must retire.

Narine does the job with bowl 90% times. Economical always.

Russell is probably having the year which Pollard had last year. So, maybe it could be last season for him.

Gill scored 478 runs in 2021 and 440 in 2020.

Highest for kkr in those seasons.

Ferguson was ok. He did very well last year.

But Thakur for 10 cr.

Gill was slow. Venky Iyer took them to finals that seasons.

Misguided information being quoted. Gill's strike rate was around 120 in those years. For an opener, 400 runs is not necessarily a good performance.

For a team with very weak middle order Gill had the task of being the anchor.

In 2020 he scored 440 runs at strike rate of 117 .

In 2021 he scored 478 at strike rate of 119 .

This is not acceptable as a opener.

Warner is very smart as captain.

He has saved his main spinner Kuldeep for the two South African batter to deal with- Markram and Klassen. SRH in trouble at the moment.

Rinku Russell rana are all there now. What is the result?

Only Gill and Venky Iyer did anything

Bhai, KKR's weakness has been top order from quite some time now. With this top order and also poor bowling attack( pacers especially), KKR are not winning anything. When Gill was released, it was due to his average performance. Russell was doing much better then and he has been their main core from a long time.

DK was also part of that middle order. KKR always had good MO batters. 2 years ago, they had Rana, Tripathi, Morgan, DK, Russell. Now they have V Iyer, Rinku, Russell, Rana. They would probably have been better with Shreyas Iyer at 3.

In 2020 he scored 440 runs at strike rate of 117 .

In 2021 he scored 478 at strike rate of 119 .

This is not acceptable as a opener.

Absolutely correct. kkR reached finals that season so Gill played 17 games hence got that much. V Iyer came in second half(UAE matches) hence he was not top scorer for KKR.

Virat Kohli has captained RCB in their last two games due Faf du Plessis not being fit to field.

Royal Challengers Bangalore may have recorded a crucial win over high-flying Rajasthan Royals and thus got a second victory in a row under their belts but the whole team have copped fines after the game. Chief of which is Virat Kohli, who was named captain of the team for the match.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) said in a statement that Kohli has been fined ₹24 lakh for RCB's slow over-rate during the RR innings while each member of the rest of the team has copped lesser fines.

“Royal Challengers Bangalore, who had named Virat Kohli as their Captain for their game against Rajasthan Royals, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Rajasthan Royals at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on April 23, 2023,” said the league in its statement.

“As it was his team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Kohli has been fined Rs. 24 lakh and each member of the Playing XI, including the impact substitute, is fined Rs. 6 lakh or 25 percent of the match fee, whichever is lesser,” it further said.

RCB were allowed to place only four fielders outside the 30-yard circle for the last over of the RR innings as they were behind the over-rate. RR needed 33 to win off the last two overs. Mohammed Siraj gave away 13 runs, chiefly due to a six that Dhruv Jurel hit off the second last ball of the over, which left RCB to defend 20 runs in the final over. Harshal Patel bowled it and RR could only take 12 in it, thus handing RCB a seven-run win.

Kohli has been captaining the team in their last two matches due to regular skipper Faf du Plessis being taken off the field after he is done batting due to an injury. Du Plessis has been unfit to field because of a grade-one intercostal strain. RCB's first over-rate offence came in their one-wicket defeat at home to Lucknow Super Giants on April 10 at home. Du Plessis was captain at the time and copped a fine of ₹12 lakh as this was only their first offence.

Du Plessis's form with the bat has not been affected by his injury. As in the game against RR, the former South Africa captain was replaced by an impact player after RCB's innings. He was the highest scorer, having smashed 84 runs in 56 balls and led RCB to a score of 174/4. RCB won the match by 24 runs. Against RR, Du Plessis scored 62 off 39 balls while Glenn Maxwell made 77 off 44. The pair shared a 127-run stand off just 66 balls for the third wicket and RCB posted a score of 189/9. For RR, Devdutt Padikkal scored a half-century while Dhruv Jurel led a late fight with an unbeaten 32 off 16 balls but they could only get to 182/6.

And another fine!!

==

Delhi Capitals captain David Warner has been fined Rs 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate during their IPL match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here. Delhi defeated Sunrisers by seven runs in a low-scoring match on Monday night. "As it was his team's first offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Warner was fined Rs. 12 lakh," IPL said in a statement on Tuesday.

The IPL aims for matches to finish in three hours and 20 minutes, but slow over rate is proving to be an issue, with several games stretching past the four-hour mark.

The atmosphere in some of the IPL games has been incredible. This seems up there, the return of Home and Away has been a big plus
