Rohit Sharma with yet another failure. I don't know how he keeps his place in the Indian T20 side let alone continue to captain the side.
Selectors must make up their mind and drop this over the hill player.

He is a legend , In India legends are bigger than selectors.

Mumbai Indians have slumped to their biggest defeat since 2017, losing to Gujarat Titans by 55 runs.

GHT have now won 5 in 7, while Mumbai have 3 wins in as many matches.

What a mismatch!! Who will say that MI are five-time champions off the back of that performance?

Ishan Kishan struggles to rotate strike, Rohit hasn’t found consistency and their death bowling would be giving all fans nightmares. Oh how badly do they miss Bumrah.

But at the other end of the spectrum we saw the reigning champions remind us all why they hold the crown. Shubman Gill got another fifty, and today their middle-order joined the party with Abhinav Manohar and David Miller getting vital cameos. They even got their iceman Rahul Tewatia to come out and smoke a few sixes at the death as the hosts registered their highest score in the IPL.

Mark Wood is set to miss the latter stages of the Indian Premier League to be present at the birth of his daughter in late May.

The Lucknow Super Giants paceman, expecting his second child with wife Sarah, will fly home to present at his daughter's birth.

Wood has been prolific for the Super Giants this season, taking 11 wickets in his four appearances including 5 for 14 on debut against Delhi Capitals.

It is unlikely that he would return to India following the new arrival, with Afghan seamer Naveen-ul-Haq expected to be his replacement.

RCB Batting is even more dented now with Faf's absence! And is it Shahbaz who is opening? He is one of the fit for nothing cricketer ever to have played!

Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Kolkata Knight Riders, 36th Match

Teams:

Kolkata Knight Riders (Playing XI): N Jagadeesan(w), Jason Roy, Venkatesh Iyer, Nitish Rana(c), Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, David Wiese, Vaibhav Arora, Umesh Yadav, Varun Chakaravarthy

Royal Challengers Bangalore (Playing XI): Virat Kohli(c), Shahbaz Ahmed, Glenn Maxwell, Mahipal Lomror, Dinesh Karthik(w), Suyash Prabhudessai, Wanindu Hasaranga, David Willey, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Harshal Patel, Mohammed Siraj

Royal Challengers Bangalore have won the toss and have opted to field

Siraj is such a quality powerplay bowler, just like Shami.

All India needs is Bumrah to be fit and back to best especially his death overs skills. Then India's bowling attack for ODI World Cup will also be spot on.

Faf will come in as the impact sub

This could be Faf's last IPL then! Such a brilliant fielder (and more than that captain) if he is repeated used as impact sub, then he is not being utilized fully in the team! Without this Impact player concept he might have missed many matches for RCB this season!

Why on earth Shahbaz Ahmed plays cricket? RCB is murdered here! Back to drubbing mode! KKR rising again after losses (RCB bowlers bring most opposition teams back on track!)

Siraj is the only good bowler RCB has. Hasaranga is okayish. The likes of Shahbaz, Harshal and Vyshak are just mediocre. No wonder RCB never wins IPL. No matter how much their batting score, their bowlers will give away even more.

KKR do not have the mettle , they fail to pace there innings , here 200 is not a winning score but a par score.

Bumrah
Shami
Siraj
Hardik
is a potent pace attack (Arshdeep could be a good backup. In fact if Bumrah or anyone is not fit, Arshdeep can straight away replace and give the variety!)
Jadeja & Axar can both play (in World Cup in India)
That can give pretty OK balance to the team. Unfortunately we don't have a batsman who can bowl some spin, if so we could have played ditched both Jadeja & Axar and went in with a proper wrist spinner (we have many options as we are seeing) But I am seeing Axar to be that guy (batsman who can bowl in current form). We badly need a wrist spinner too, but I don't see that happening... (Axar + 1 wrist spinner! Jadeja will be retained in the team. As a fielder though he scores over everyone) Maybe they will leave out one of Bumrah/Siraj/Shami, and rely on Hardik as 3rd pacer! Then Jadeja, Axar & 1 wrist spinner can play! But this won't work out unless pitch is a turner.

Russell needs to be kicked out of the team , heis well past prime , better play Southee instead.

He's not fit, don't what's the problem.. at the toss Kohli said he might fit for next game (to lead the game)..

Kohli is not a T20 player. He is a 100-120 S/R batsman on his normal days and can up it to 140-150 S/R on his best days. He will never be a 200 S/R batsman. He puts too much pressure on the other batsmen to score big shots.

And Kohli is gone trying to hit big. Its not his strength. Seen this play out way too many times.

That's why you stick with Russell. He may not bowl always but when required, he can bowl a few overs and pick key wickets.

Russell is still one of the best pacers KKR got.

Still better than most KKR pacers.

He is playing as an all rounder , with bat he has been very poor.

The amount of experience he has , and amount of money he gets , he should be batting at number 5 and control the game.

He has been their biggest icon for many years so there will be occassional season where he is poor. But he merits a place considering his overall utility and lack of options that KKR have in their pace bowling unit.

Kolkata Knight Riders end their 4-match losing streak on the back of a good all-round performance. Chasing 201, RCB came out all guns blazing scoring 30 runs off the first two overs.

Nitish Rana quickly turned to spin and Suyash Sharma, the 19-year-old leggie, provided the crucial breakthrough in his very first over by removing the leading run-getter of this IPL - Faf du Plessis. He trapped Shahbaz Ahmed in his following over and Chakaravarthy nipped out Maxwell in the final over of the powerplay.

For the first time in this season, RCB had lost three wickets inside six overs and they'd lost two of their in-form batsmen as well in the process. Lomror, who had a quiet tournament so far, took the aggressor's role as he and Kohli forged a half-ton partnership.

KKR fought back as they removed both the set batters within a span of five deliveries. While Lomror fell to a short ball, a superb catch from Venkatesh Iyer ended Kohli's knock.

The Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore slumped to a 21-run loss at home at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium against Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday. On a flat track, after KKR batters battered RCB bowlers to put up a huge total of 200/5, the hosts' chase fizzled out as most batters, except Kohli, hardly made any impact. Barring two stands, both involving Kohli, RCB never showed the gumption to fight. Most of the RCB bowlers were costly too while they were poor in fielding too, dropping easy chances. Stand-in RCB skipper Kohli minced no words as he vented out his frustration at the tame loss.

"To be honest we handed over the game to them. We deserved to lose. We weren't professional enough. We bowled well but fielding was not up to standard. This was a freebie handed over to them," a furious Kohli said after the game.

"In the field, there was a period of 4-5 overs where we dropped chances, that cost us 25-30 runs. When batting, we set us ourselves up very well, but then there were four to five soft dismissals. Not wicket-taking balls but we hit them straight to the fielders. Even while chasing, after losing wickets, one partnership brought us back in the game. We were one partnership short. We need to stay switched on, and not give away soft plays.

"We have won one and lost one on the road. It is not something that is making us nervous. We need to win some away games to be in good shape for the later stages of the tournament."

RCB couldn't win even when it had a balanced side and Kohli/Gayle/ABD were in best form. Now with this team with at least 3-4 passengers, they have no chance. May not even qualify for playoffs (with 10 teams now).

With the emergence of young talent like Jaiswal, Rohit and other oldies have to slowly make way for the newcomers.

What a find Dhruv Jurel for RR is.. done his job perfectly almost everytime, even the one where he get out of golden duck ;)

Jadeja plays for India and is at peak, he should be leading this side if anything.

But Dhoni is the best finisher ever. So he cannot be hiding behind a hit or miss Jadeja. A quick fire 50 off 20 balls could have made the match close. But MSD chose to hide.

MSD has been hiding behind tailenders and lower order batsmen since 2014.

Rajasthan Royals have done the double over Chennai Super Kings this season. They are also back to winning ways after losing two in a row. CSK, on the other hand, end their three match winning run and a 32-run defeat means there's an interchange in positions between these two sides on the points table.

From India'a point of view, the shining stars of this season till now have been Rinku Singh and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Yashasvi will have to compete with Gill and Ruturaj but being a left hander will give him an advantage. Kishan seems a minnow basher but not ideal first choice player vs top teams.

Rinku is a long term prospect for finishers role because he keeps his body position still and has the range to hit the boundaries in the final overs. In India's T20 setup, he can come in at 6 with Pandya moving up at 5.

128 .2

60 balls left , Lucknow will be looking at 220 minimum from here after this kind of start.

Stonis has been promoted today , and he is looking really dangerous , if he stays till end , Lucknow will get a very very good total.

RCB is the only team to cross 250 in IPL history , they scored 263 in 2013. Gayle scored 175 alone !
