English fast bowling is in good hands...Robinson, Woakes, Overton, Joffra, Wood. Whenever Anderson and Broad decide to retire, the next generation is more than ready to take the mantle from them.

Rahul has scored 30 runs in his last 4 innings, totally undid the good work he did in the previous 2-3 innings of this series.

Slightly change in kohli's technique today. Think he's shifted his guard from middle to off stump trying to cover the line outside off

If this was Pakistan fans would be talking about our struggles against C / D list bowling however like you mentioned fact is even down to Z list bowlers England have a vast array of talent that would break into many other first teams easily. Robinson is a brilliant find aswel , Curran brothers , overton , mahmood more than able deputies, archer broad stokes not even featuring here , woakes come in and leads the charge list goes on and on.

Couple of years ago pujara used to get beaten on the inside edge. Now to counter that he plays inside the line off the ball and gets caught behind. Needs to be dropped puts no pressure on the bowlers like Azhar Ali

Rahane comes to resurrect his career now. Wish him success people

This is KL Rahul's 9th test in England. He plays one good inning and follows it with 4-5 poor innings. Exactly what I said before. :inti

The problem with our team is not whether ashwin or Rahane is picked or not.

The problem is accountability and fairness.

There is none in this team so any kind of mental gynastics defending decisions will only hurt us in the long run.

This series has been a complete farce for us due to Kohli's pig headedness.

Sooner this megalomaniac goes, better it'd be for Indian cricket. However, that's not going to happen!

Pujara gone - thats good news for India, sending jadeja right decision. I predict india will win this game, lets see

LOL he was getting ready to bat but suddenly Jadeja came to bat instead.
What's going on

I hope this backfires, im not an indian fan but i still feel Ashwin is miles better than Jadeja and should be here instead.
Do you know even some Indian fans here justify playing Jadeja as a specialist bat?

They think only taking 20 opposition wickets is enough, scoring runs isn't required.

We failed miserably with the bat in both innings during the last test. Guess what? We changed our bowling lineup instead and not a single bat is dropped for this test!

If this isn't pig-headedness what else it is?

Vasudev, alias Vasoo, Paranjape (The Cricket Drona)- a former First Class cricketer who mentored numerous greats of the game - passed away at his home here on Friday afternoon after a prolonged illness. Paranjape was 82.

Paranjape’s career as a cricketer was restricted to 29 appearance for Mumbai from 1956 to 1970. But it was his great cricketing acumen, ability to mentor cricketers and an uncanny knack to motivate young and veterans alike that elevated him into the stature of one of the greatest guides of the game in Indian cricket.

I actually dont think there is any alternative. I dont want anyone else to come in and get exposed on this pitch. Might ruin their careers. Let the likes of rahane fail properly here.

Yes. England is quite blessed. India, Pakistan, SA and WI are also coming up with good fast bowlers. The only worry is Australia; their next gen fast bowlers are not in the picture anywhere. World cricket needs strong Australia.

On a side note, I have observed that Pakistani fans are a tad too harsh on their players. PCT hardly gets to play long series in SENA and even fewer at home, and yet does well. And they have good upcoming talent. Shaheen, Babar and Rizwan are already world class, and the Dahani kid is quite promising.

On the other hand, India with all the money, resources, long tours, fan support, vast pool of domestic players, excellent sports infrastructure and phenomenal history of world class players and trophies - still frustrates and disappoints us fans with their attitude/performance.

If there is no alternative on a tour then the fault lies with the team management only.

I meant alternative course of action. My bad. I meant I dont want the likes of easwaran debuting in such difficult condition, failing and being discarded forever .

Rohit is just a beast at home but away, he is inconsistent too. Rahul is also inconsistent.

But atleast they score. Shaw and Mayank are walking wickets overseas.

Day1 - 4th test : Lunch
Over 25 - India 54-3 (Jadeja 2, Kohli 18)

Rahane should read the writing on the wall.

Jadeja looks clueless in these conditions against the English seamers, why has he been promoted to 5? lol Kohli trying to surpass even himself in the odd decision making stakes.

Rajdeep's take on Session 1

- Poor opening spell from Anderson. He was looking at lengths he bowled at Headingly but no swing on offer here.

- KL Rahul looked brilliant and fluent on the offside.

- Rahul's dismissal looked not out in real time. Surely Root wouldnt have reviewed had umpires given not out.

- Robinson looked the most threatning English bowler with some unplayable deliveries.

- Woakes bowled poorly against Pujara, giving him a free boundary on his pads.

- Pujara never looked comfortable and only survived so long bcoz he only faced Woakes. The first over he faced from Anderson - he got out.

- Kohli has changed his trigger movement and shuffling to off side like Steve Smith.

- Good decision by management to send Jadeja at 5 just to keep left-right combo.

:kp

One of the greatest test century from a no.5 coming up, although this time at no.6.

It will be hard to surpass the Melbourne 2020 knock but we will surely find out where that century will be rated among the best works from our vice-captain.

You want Shaw(5 tests) and Mayank(14 tests) to score runs even when they are not playing lol? This is Rahul's 40th test. At least you have confessed that he is inconsistent. :inti

I always believe good players should not be exposed and risked at top in these conditions. Openers position should be for those who are decent and play a waiting game and dogged innings.
How ever hard and disciplined rahul and rohit are trying , their technique will get exposed by a good ball

If team management doesn't have any confidence in rahane why play him? Drop and play another batter

Possibly they thought that all top 5 being right handers is allowing the bowlers to keep bowling the same lines without much adjustment required.

I think the idea could be to try nd make use of jadeja's ability to hang in there and get rahane n pant to bat against an older ball

Kohli dropped by Root. England would hope he doesn't go on to get a big 100.

Oh dear! We are such big home track bullies. All thanks to KL and Pant, we atleast won two memorable tests- Gabba and Lords. Can't expect home track bullies to win us anything overseas :yk

There are two rules for Playing Against Kohli Club.

1. You do not drop Kohli

2. You do NOT! DROP! KOHLI!

Yes can be the idea but, would look definitely bad for Rahane if Jadeja is being trusted more than him to get the ball comparatively older.

I don't know about this. Robinson is late 20s and seems like a bowler good in English conditions, maybe NZ but I can't imagine him being much of a threat elsewhere.

Woakes is already 32 and still not developed into an all conditions bowler.

Overton, well I am not sure what to make of him. He should be approaching his physical peak but he is slower now than he was a while back and in all honesty, isn't that good.

Jofra and Wood are injured almost all the time! No idea if they even last the next 5 years.

England should be using this time to bleed in Saqib and yet they have lost that opportunity twice now. I really hope another aspiring young Asian cricketer is not lost in the mess.

Jadeja is another home track bully we have. Can't take wickets and can't score runs either.
