And on the match, I can't watch it right now :( but why is the scorecard showing Jadeja was promoted...is this an ODI where he comes in and whacks a few?

Interesting points.

I agree with Saqib Mahmood, he is incredibly talented, has swing, pace and is smart with line and length.
Eng should play him at least in the final test.

I think Robinson is the next Stuart Broad. Woakes can play for another 5 years like Anderson. Joffra and Wood, yes, you're right, will have shorter careers but will make impact, especially in Australia.

Overton used to consistently bowl 140+ dunno why he is bowling slow these days.

Overton, well I am not sure what to make of him. He should be approaching his physical peak but he is slower now than he was a while back and in all honesty, isn't that good.

Jofra and Wood are injured almost all the time! No idea if they even last the next 5 years.

England should be using this time to bleed in Saqib and yet they have lost that opportunity twice now. I really hope another aspiring young Asian cricketer is not lost in the mess.

Jimmy has been quite poor (by his exalted standards) so far today.
 
Saqib in the long run will play a lot for England. He is a good bowler.
 
However I think this is Jimmy's own decision to play this test. May be he wanted to fill his boots!

He may have gotten greedy but its obvious its one test match too many for him without rest.
 
Kohli is playing really well, but England will still fancy their chances of bowling out India for less than 200 if they can get him out soonish.

For starters, would have surely played Ashwin right from the first test especially how he did in WTC final and county game.

It's idiocy of the highest order not to play him even in a single test in this series.

He will be Englands main bowler in the ashes in Australia

Its about fairness and accountability.

By the way, green lords 2014 pitch turned on the last day.

Ovals characteristic doesnt change just cos pitch is a bit green on day 1.

Also why is Rahane playing today?

Because you and other Indian fans wanted him to be the next captain just two months ago.

Hyped him a lot on how he is the second coming of Mike Brearley without looking at the fact that he avgs 33 since 2018

I have always maintained that he is useless.

Probably true what you say about Ashwin.
But Kohli is stubborn to keep Pujara and Rahane in the team& will probably cost him series.
I mean look at how much Pujara scored. Pretty sure Ashwin would have scored atleast 20 more than Pujara and would have been handy as a bowler whatever the conditions. After Pujara is out his contribution to the game is as good as nil now.
Suryakumar Yadav is in form of life and he is most likely to score more than Rahane at least based on comparative current forms.
Anyway cricket is great leveler. When India had good batting lineup in past it did not have wicket taking bowlers and now its vice versa.

True. You are right.

But if you saw our posts, we also acknowledged that Rahane was useless too.

If he has to play, it would be better if he atleast captains.

Check some of my older posts.

I called for all 3 to be dropped after WTC.

Atleast Pujara and Rahane.

You may play him anywhere, doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is that you don't drop one of your best players for a dud like Jadeja (when considering their primary disciplines especially in away conditions).

When you drop him for 4 consecutive tests (even at Oval), your cricketing intelligence must be questioned by all who care for Indian cricket.

Agree with you over Rahane but don't think there's anyone waiting in the dressing room who would outscore Pujara.

Pujara will surely score runs in the next innings.

Surya is a good limited overs cricketer, I am not sure whether his form in lois will convert into tests but still he and Shaw are way better than Rahane.

that's what I am saying,hes not dropped for Jadeja but for Thakur/Ishant.Both played in WTC with Ash at 8

Regarding Ashwin, Jadeja has really disappointed us this series. No one expected that especially after the way he performed at MCG.
So I think after this match, Ashwin is definitely gonna play.

Unfortunately, its of no use now.

Last test will be rained off i am hearing.

So this game is pretty much the decider.

And even if he plays the last test, its a pukka pace friendly pitch. Manchester.

Impact will be lesser than here.

Ashwin's tour is done.
 
Yes, Jaddu hasnt performed with the bat.

I backed him so i will put up my hand and admit that.

A bit tough on Jaddu when he always has to bat with tail.

Could have scored more had he come up the order some other day than today.

The balance is messed up.

My lower order was always this:

Pant
Jaddu
Ash
Shardul
2 pacers

We course correct based on performance.

In the pther tests, this would have done better:

Jaddu
Pant
Ash
Shardul
2 pacers

Everyone chips in a few.

But we make sure Pujara and Rahane are dropped....atleast one of them.

Broken MO is so hard to rectify.
 
As much as Kohli's arrogance and ego has benefitted his batting, it has cost Indian cricket a lot in terms of captaincy.
 
Why has there been so much talk of resting Anderson in clutch games when he is going to rest for the next 3 months after this series.

We do. Our biggest weakness is our batting but no, Kohli won't play extra batsman as that'll reflect poorly on Asia's best ever captain. How dare he played defensively!

All our last away test series losses are totally on Kohli, the captain, starting from England in 2018, SA earlier that year and now this series.

Pujara: Pooja what is this behaviour ??, he is done, and no point wasting the spot for a talented youngster, so GOODBYE PUJARA

Pant: He needs to mature and come back when he is a better player mentally, again I am seeing him trying to go for a wild swing against Robinson on the 5th ball he faced when he was on 0, so GOODBYE PANT.

Why is Umesh Yadav in this side ? you leave a world class player like Ashwin out for how long ? Madness...

Yes he's being too stubborn. Rahane should never have played this game he looks so out of form. Not a player who looks in form but somehow not able to convert.
And then sends jadeja ahead of him i mean what message does that sens to a struggling Rahane. So so poor
