.. Poor captaincy by Shakib to bring Shahadat up the order to play out the final few overs against Bresnan and Anderson with a new, fast, swinging ball. You call Shahadat a nightwatchman?! Seriously?! Teach him how to play a full and straight delivery, not even a yorker (the delivery he got out to would be an overpitched delivery for a proper batsman which would be spanked to the boundary) and we'll talk. It's okay if you send somebody up the order like Aamer, or even Hauritz, but really? Shahadat?

The two wickets really put a bitter end to an otherwise sweet, sweet day for Bangladesh. Tamim is really developing into a world-class batsman - it'll be interesting to see, if in a year from now, he's up the batsman rankings to the top (where a batsman with talent like him should be) or he's at the same place. It's sad though Tamim is playing for a team like Bangladesh where even his good/great knocks end up going to waste because his team usually loses or the middle order collapse - if he were playing for a better team it'd be so much better. Anyway - let's see if Bangladesh can hold up a fight.

I reckon - Bangladesh need to bat out atleast 30-40 overs tomorrow and they'll be in the safe zone.

Siddique is playing well, a gritty Collingwood type of knock - he needs to stay. And the lower order of Mushfiqur, Mahmudullah, and Shakib, the captain himself - MUST support him. If they can, give batting practice to the tailenders tonight - teach them how to stay at the crease for a long time, proper defense techniques, and all. Bangladesh need to try to play out overs, not get runs (anyway, if they play out overs, the runs will come themselves).

If Bangladesh stay for 30-40 overs, they should draw the game (unless the English batsmen decide to bat for the win.. which they most probably will).

60-40 to England right now.. if those 2 wickets hadn't fallen, it would have been an even 50-50, or possibly even 40-60 to Bangladesh.

Tamim seems a great guy - liked his interview at the end of play today with Athers. Lovely innings today.

I think it all depends on the weather tomorrow. If there is cloud overhead then England will wrap this up with ease, blue skies however should mean a close match going down to the last session I think.

I'd b say its 90-10 for England been comeback well earlier in the 3rd day when Bangladesh going well at 172/2 ending up a weather-hit 237/7 really losing their way here looks a same again.

Engalnd will aim to wrap up the innings by lunch time and chase a target tomorrow afternoon.

Bangladesh They are 105 ahead and still have a chance of saving this match.

there is a 90 % chance england will win...10% chance we'll draw.

reason being there will be extra overs in tomorrow. and england has the option to call for extra time to finish the match. 98 overs are already in the books and with extra time (light permitting, which it may) 110 overs could possibly be played.

if we bat for another 40 overs, scoring 120 runs, thats a lead of 225 to be chased in 70 overs, which england will have no problems doing. batting 40 overs with just 5 wickets intact is not impossible since some of our best batsmen on recent form are still there to come, but its unlikely, barring a near miracle to save this game.

nonetheless its progress, as the last time we were here we scored less than 270 runs in both innings combined, conceded 520+ for just 3 wickets, and lost in less than 7 sessions. this match will go for at least 12 sessions, and if we do well a little longer.

Any of you Tigers fans going to the game tomorrow?

10 quid for a ticket, pay at the gate and under 16s/over 65s get in free.

It's a bank holiday so I hope there is a large turnout for what could be a historical day for Bangladeshi cricket.

Cricket is a funny game and England for sure will be going for the win which could result in a slip-up, small chance but hey still chance of winning, no matter how small :akhtar

Well played Tamim Iqbal Khan! Now he is the highest run scorer of test cricket in year 2010.
720+ with 60+ avg. He will have 3 more tests in this year to get the 1000 runs landmark in a year (inshallah)! :)

PS- 2nd in the list is Hashim Amla.

Bangladesh do have a small chance of winning. If they bat into the second session, they will have a lead that leaves England needing to take risks in their run chase. Anything can happen under such circumstances.

I'm hopeful this time around Bangladesh can at least draw a test. It's been a while =(

The final day in Lord's gets underway Bangladesh to play atleast two session save the Test as England aims to take early wickets.

why gift ur wicket away. This is not a 20/20 game. Absoultely pathetic shot. Now its definitly game over. He is supposed to be captain and should show more common sense.

Junaid Siddique gone on 74, played a good knock but should have carried on. The tigers lead by 131 runs with 3 wickets in hand.

Good fight so far regardless, I don't think anyone would've predicted this at Lords. :14:

England need 160 to win in approx 70 overs or a bit lesser.

Too easy.

Well played Bangladesh, gave a good fight.. but I really imagine how Siddique, Tamim, and Kayes feel right now. They must be so disappointed it was that Bangladesh middle order collapse # 5185 which just couldn't back up the performances those three played.

what a dramatic collapse after almost being 200 without loss. 321-3 and 382 AO. Looks like I was spot on. Eng will win with almost a session to spare. really poor stuff this. The senior players Ashraful and Saqibal are to blame. Failed in both inning and a couple of poor shots. They have been playing for a while now and should of done much better. Ashraful has been a passenger in the side for quite a while now. Needs to be removed just like Misbah. I hope pak dont fold like this when we come later on the summer.

Mahmudullah should come up the order to take Ashraful's place, who should be dropped.

23-0 after 2. Bangladesh bowlers getting spanked all over the place. They are bowling such filth. Absolute Garbage. I feel sorry for the bangladesh supporters who have to watch this appalling bowling

Shahadat really struggling. Overstepping, wides, no-balls. Currently a 9- ball over

Cook and Strauss have departed in this run chase with it being 147/2.

Only 13 needed and here's Pietersen.

How can I be so spot on. I said yesturday afternoon that Bang will crumble under pressure and England will win with a session to spare.

And there we go, Trott hits the winning runs with a four and England have won this game easily by 8 wickets.

Congratulations England. :14:
..and a special mention to Tamim who was class throughout this game, surely the best cricketer Bangladesh has produced. Finn or Trott will possibly get MOM though.

They need to kick out the passenger Ashraful ASAP. Since beating Aussies in 2005 bang cricket im afraid is stagnating. No improvement whatsoever. Only light in shining armour is Tamim.

Don't agree, they are improving but VERY slowly. Shockingly slowly infact.

But yeah, Ashraful needs to go.

in 2005/6 they were close to beating the Aussies in test match at home. They just lost that one. so I dont see much improvement.

That wasn't a full strength Aus team iirc and it was at home. Tbh, they did a lot better in this game than I thought they would. Putting up a 200 opening stand in England is not something the previous BD sides would have managed.

Disappointing,BD just couldnt keep their compusure. They definitely miss Mortaza, the bowling looks very weak,batting-wise Tamim is a star but they can tend to be inconsistent.Still the two series this year against England have proved to be a vital learning curve and BD can only benefit from the experience of this tour. They have to persist with the right players, not rotate too much and knuckle down and get some good performances under their belt.

scoring 400 in one day against any aus side is no mean feat. They also managed to get them out cheaply in the first innings.

And how were their performances in other test matches during that time? In fact, how did they go in the next game of that Oz series?

england will now destroy bang in the second test and wrap it up within 4 days as long as rain stays away
