Excellent, so Cook and Robson have to field first up tomorrow.

PURE Brilliance.

Thank you Vijay.

Thank you Pujara.

Thank You Kohli.

Infinite Thank You Rahane.

Thank You Bhuvi.

Thank You Ishant And Shami for staying not out.

what a great innings by rahane on a green pitch at lords against Jimmy and broad

A great knock by Rahane on a green pitch when Indians were in huge trouble.

Great Cook had long-on , long-off, fine-leg etc with number 10/11 batting on a green pitch against new ball, LOL. And then you had bowlers bowling leg stump line. Eng should thank their lucky stars to win this toss otherwise they have been very poor with the ball in this series.

Advantage india. england threw away the pitch advantage. the match was theirs with soo much swing and they threw it away with their short or full toss crap. Very pathetic.

The thing was both were looking good until they got brutes of deliveries ,u can't do any thing with that.

I agree but Pujara after that first test in SA has got starts in almost every game and never went on to make anything substantial. I guess Pujara with all his ability and technique needs to put more value on his wicket especially after he is set in overseas conditions.

Only if the pitch remains the same otherwise Eng can post 450+ and put Indians under pressure.

It's so heartening to see the way young batters batted on this track,if only indian bowlers starts performing better we will be a decent side outside of india

He got a very good ball on a green pitch. He missed out making runs in first test though.

Yeah I meant after the first test in SA. He got off to starts and got out. Even in NZ, he spent lots of time in the middle and got out. He needs to fix that aspect of this game.

I agree there is nothing much he could have done. The ball was swinging away and one just held its line. I actually give him a lot of credit for today's performance. He tired the bowlers out and played a very significant rearguard innings. He should not have thrown his wicket away in the last match though. Could have easily scored a hundred on the last day.

Depends on how the pitch behaves tomorrow. If India can get England out under 350, then they will have the advantage on day 3, provided they bat well. The pitch should ease out considerably by then.

Remove Pujara from Indian lineup and you will see CARNAGE.

Even his 20's and 30's have huge value. Sure he needs to score big. But point is that the balls he consumes are in the base setting/consolidation period where the ball seems to be doing a lot.

Still India's best Test batsman.

Swing. Seam. Rank Turner. He is DA BOMB.

Today's inning was amazing before he lost his concentration. Him and Vijay played in the toughest period.

I am not saying anything wrong about him, nor I am saying that he should be dropped. I am just saying that after doing all the hard work, you should make the innings count. Today he got a great delivery but in some games, he batted for a long period of time to lose his wicket at an inopportune moment. He has great technique and temperament but I think he just loses concentration sometimes when he plays that one lose stroke which costs him his wicket. Same thing with Vijay too, but again Pujara is in a different league to Vijay, so don't want to compare the two. Vijay is doing a good job seeing off the new ball, which is good enough for us.

Bud relax. Never said that you said that. Just a general comment I made.

My bad. I didn't properly word my post.

And yes, you are spot on.

Mustn't get too excited though. We're effectively 190/9 with Ishant bowling for us.

By the law of averages, Cook is scheduled to make a hundred........ ok maybe not.

Oh why or why didn't they pick Ashwin.....

England v India | 2nd Test | July 17-21 2014 | Lord's | Day 2

India are 290-9 overnight . How many more runs can they get?

I hope its not more than 300 unless the RR is really good. Want Bhuvi and Shami to bowl as much as possible before the pitch gets baked.

A few mm of grass was indeed taken off. This is from Cricbuzz -

Pitch report: 'There has been heavy rain overnight but it is bright and sunny now. Mike Hunt is taking one or two millimetres off the grass.

Its a hot day, the pitch will be a belter in 1 hour.

But aint that pitch tampering...

mate it be sunny-but its muggy as well and I am in Richmond- about 7 miles from Lords...

Bhuvi will be the key here, but there is something killing me for the last half an hour. Is it true that Bhuvi is only 5'7" and 57 kg ? Pre-match had these stats shown for him, and I was surprised.

you want him to be a diabetic 85 kilos?

No, but he is an athlete and the stats are borderline underweight category.

Mo Farah weighs even less and runs marathon- mate as long as he bowls ok who cares?

Can be low bone density or a natural leaner frame....Amir didnt weigh a lot did he?

Marathon runners have to be like this, but he is a fast bowler. I was just surprised, not complaining :)

bhai he is not a fast bolwer- he is medium pacer- he puts on any more pace and he be bowling at Ramesh Powar speeds :)

Why are they batting so slow? I think everybody here wants to see sixes including brother nish.

No cloud cover over London but there should be boomerang swing because it is so humid.

Rahane drops a dolly in the slips. Robson hits a boundary the very next delivery.
