I think this series has shown that the current England batting generation does not handle the short ball very well. It's a far cry from the nineties when Atherton, Stewart, Nasser and Thorpe all knew how to play the quick stuff. The problem is that there are no fast bowlers in the CC any longer so the current generation are not learning how to play it properly. They either hook blindly or stick their gloves up in hope and get caught at short leg or silly point.
By next summer I hope Moores will give them intensive practice against the bowling machine wound up to 95 mph, directed at the ribs and throat. Then they can work on ducking and weaving, and will have more chance against Johnson and Cummings.
