What's new

England vs Pakistan | 2nd Test | Headingley, Leeds | June 1-5, 2018 | Day 2 | Match Thread

Faheem and Shadab as all rounders certainly have done their job.

Fahim especially has been troubling top batsmen often.

Faheem has been on the money since his return. Only a matter of time he will get Bess, just like Jennings yesterday.

English tailender outscoring all of our specialist batsmen. That's all I n Ed to knows about this match

I don’t want to see Abbas against Australia and New Zealand in the UAE.

not sarfar fault. if he would have bowled first then eeryone would have said negative decision if 400+ scores and then rpessure of runs would have resulted in wicket.

Shadab will get substantial turn in 4th innings. Let's just hope Azhar and Imam show some gherat and put up a good fight regardless of 2nd innings lead.

Isa Guha on commentary just said that Dom Bess averages 13 against spin in county cricket. He's only played 17 FC matches but why the hell didn't they open the bowling with Shadab? Or at least brought him on earlier than now?

Probably not doing their research.

Abbas has bowled like that trundler Asad Ali who played a few games in 2013.

Game over for Pakistan. They can't recover from this position. They caught their opponents off guard in the first test but now England are ready.

Still want to see discipline and fight for the rest of this game.

we can try to score as many as they will!

Bess toying with the bowlers here. It would be great for England if he can get a hundred.

If Root stops chasing wide deliveries, he will average 60.

Abbas has been exposed here. Let’s see if he can bounce back.

Michael Holding with his excellent analysis!
Still remember he was in tears when he heard about Amir back in 2010.

Timid captaincy by Sarfraz.
If you want wickets, tell the bowlers to bowl bouncers or yorkers and set an aggressive field.

We love debutants.

IND will blow this Bess dude out from the squad during the 5 test series.

Ind will find it tough to keep intensity for long away series. I don't recall India ever keeping it up in a long series when playing away.

Like Asif, Abbas needs grass to succeed. Asif has had many toothless performances on grass-less pitches.

Mentioning Abbas in the same sentence with Asif is an insult to the bowling legacy of the later. You should know better.

Well the worse that can happen is the series will be drawn...but toothless is the right word for this bowling on flat pitches.

Asif was far better, but they are similar in a lot of ways. We can say that Asif is a much superior version of Abbas.

True but I'm pretty sure Bess of all people won't be scoring 50s against them.

I think that is unfair- we should have made 300 batting first and then this game is totally different.
You cant really have a go at the bowlers for not blasting the opposition out for 200 every game lol.
Do you want me to go back and pick out the games where Mcgrath, Lee warne conceded scores of 300 plus. We behave like they never did!

honestly some PPers

Not the first or the last time our so-called world class bowling has been exposed on a flat pitch.

There is no bite in this attack barring Hassan and the occasional magic delivery/spell by Amir.

Fahim and Abbas are as threatening as kittens on flat pitches.

He looks like a tough nut to me.

I had said the same about Handscomb, who scored a ton against us.

That was one of the least deserved 100s, full of nudges and prods.

At that time, he was being lauded by everyone.

Stage is set for Buttler to blow away this toothless attack and put Pakistan to the sword. He is tailor-made for situations like these.
