What's new

England vs Pakistan | 2nd Test | Headingley, Leeds | June 1-5, 2018 | Day 2 | Match Thread

Faheem and Shady takes extra much time to bowl their overs for a 4th seamer and spinner. Tabhi kahun time kyun lagta extra.

Thats why you need to pitch the ball up. As short pitch bowling take stumps out of equation, as ball goes above stumps if hit on pads

Shadab needs give more air to the ball. And he should invite the batsman to drive

Looks like England will get a big lead. Going to need to bat really well to get anything from this game.

He needs to spin the ball with his fingers. Rn he is depending on his wrist, what he needs to do is follow Yasir Shah, he spins the ball with his ring finger.

It will be a blessing if sarfraz gets banned. He's been awful for quite some time now. It's time to groom a new keeper.

Sarfraz body language isn't looking good.
He must chin up if he wants his team to atleast draw the match.

Contrary to the popular perception, I love games played in the UAE because there is so much serenity in the outfield, no annoying gestures and disturbance from the stands.

I know both of them are class apart. But pace wise, they are very similar. You could see batsman coming out of crease and throwing kitchen sink at them in later part of the careers (when cricket got bit fast). And that took swing out of the equation. And bowler tend to go for plenty due to that tactic.

Right, but you mentioned that both "struggled." I don't believe McGrath "struggled" and I'm not sure who can if you look at his extraordinary numbers right till the end of ODI/Test careers. Both in a WC/Ashes to boot.

We shouldnt get a new ball. Let abbas bowl with this old one, i feel he will get more out of it

So last two wickets were due to bounce and this one is due to an unusual tentative push at the ball.

Amir and Abbas with the new ball more than likely. Need them to wrap this up.

That's because there is NO ONE in the stands, lol.

That's because there's no one there and when there is it's usually some guy jumping around with a stuffed toy.

The signs are looking very good now.
Shadab extracting bounce and spin from a 2 days old pitch.

Of course he knows why there is serenity in the UAE Tests, but that is what he prefers.

Need to clean up tail soon as possible, Buttler dangerous as Pak batting too unreliable.

McGrath was an absolute class when he bowled with new ball. But have you seen him coming around for second spell, in later part of his career? He almost couldnt even let bowl at the death as batsman used to be more aggressive charging in, and blasting him out the parks. He retired before becoming a mockery!

Out of nowhere Faheem has suddenly got this ball moving considerably

Not sure if Bairstow has strengthened the claim that he is a better batsman than Root, although the latter has not covered himself in glory either.

We don't have the luxury of the Buttler dropped catch not mattering even if he gets out the next ball.

Can't be too cross because it's part of the game and it's the batters who made the match near unwinnable.

Lead is already seems to be extending beyond our ability to change a Lord's style result but in England's favour.

He retired at the perfect time. Knew when his time was up. And maintained his status!

Root is the best in the team and arguably only behind KW, Kohli and Smith.

Bairstow is the third best in the team after Cook and Root.

England lead by almost 100 runs.

“Signs are looking good”.

I hope Faheem succeeds at this level. We're already carrying an underachiever, a trundler and a seamer that seems more suited for ODIs and don't need another poor man's Asif.

Botham reckons ENG can still get to a 200 run lead.

Don't they have duct tape in the UK
