ICC CT 2017 | Final : India vs Pakistan | 18th June, 2017 | The Oval | Pakistan Innings

It's 65-35 in favour of India . When India chasing in big games .big advantage for India chasing , knowing the target they can pace their inning accordingly
 
Both Pakistan and India padded up their batting by including Imad and Ashwin. I can understand where Pakistan is coming from. But India? *headshake*
 
Dumb decision by our management to play 2 spinners on this track. We needed both Shami and Umesh instead of Ash/Jaddu especially considering thst Hardik is now our 1st change seamer :facepalm:
 
Guys stop with the negative posts and negative thinking.

Pakistan still have a chance - they just need to bat well which is possible given last game.

Biggest concern I have is strike rotation but hopefully they do it good today.
 
1)Pakistan have killed themselves with this team selection.

2)Imad's inclusion is going to prove disastrous.

3) Faheem's batting could have proved to be useful.
 
Only Pakistan could make such bizarre selections for a final.. Going with spin against India. Dropping the only bowler that's an expert at the death and will be severely missed today with india chasing.

Also, it's not a bad toss to lose; trust me on this, if it's a small amount and not something really huge then leave your stake.
 
250 or 300 it is all the same. Pakistan. Will need wickets. Period.


While 350 may guarantee a win, I am looking forward to see how we bowl of the score is around 250-270. Our bowlers need to gun it today.

I was going to bet on India but the odds were horrible.
 
Mind boggling decision about Imad I would have taken either Rumman or faheem... any how good luck.
 
Sky saying that outfield is pretty damp and that may prevent any reverse swing. Water was visibly coming up to the surface when they pushed down on it.
 
Inexcusable if we crawl to 260 on this pancake. 300 is the minimum.

It's a final and it's not a bad toss to lose, yes it is India's strength chasing but people need to look at the bigger picture. India start as the favourites but we should get a good game iA, proud of the team regardless of the result and people should just relax :)
 
So both fans are disgruntled about selection of their teams. They always do that don't they? I was almost dead cert on seeing Shami or Umesh in action in place of Ashwin.

I was really hoping fahim Ashraf would play

So now we are playing THREE spinners

Spinners don't take you wickets against India

And our only chance is to bowl India out. Trying to restrict the run scoring is not a plan that will work
 
290-310 should be the target. First hour will be crucial. Lose a few quick wickets and it's all over.
 
In a way it's good we are bowling second as the reports suggest it is a bit damp. Hopefully with dry pitch and outfield in the second innings our bowlers will find some reverse

Get runs on the board, the score board pressure - specially in a final will always be there& bowling is our strength so it makes sense to do that when under pressure!

In-Shaa-Allah hope the boys can get some runs on the board and give our bowlers something to bowl at.

Everyone acting as though India are rubbish vs pace LOL.

I would have played Raees for his ability to bowl at the death.

I hope Pakistan was prepared for their worst case one-two punch:
one: losing toss to bat first
two: fakhar dismissed early.

Agreed. People crying like Faheem is McGrath. I would've played faheem for Imad too but that's the only change I would've made
 
Probably a good toss to lose.

We can't chase anything more than 250, even then its usually the tail bailing us out.
India surely would score more than 250 batting first and under pressure another Mohali would await us.
 
Outfield is soaking. Why? There has been no rain in London. Hopefully won't affect the outfield too much in the early overs
 
I wanted us to bat first anyway but this team selection has left me bemused like many of us. May be its again one of those "out of box thinking" strategies we hv heard our team mgt talking about of late.
 
Probably the happiest man on earth is Sarfraz - didn't need to take the call. Ideally, he probably would have chased, but by probability, I think that was almost 0% call, because I don't back this PAK batting to chase 4 consecutive elimination matches by chasing.

Both teams that lost batting first against IND was because of a middle order collapse, which they couldn't recover; today as well I think, it's the key - overs between 15 to 35 when 2 spinners will bowl to get middle order out. Interestingly, it wasn't India's regular bowlers that did the damage - 2 run outs for SAF & Jadhav picking the two highest scores when they were set. Probably, PAK picked Imad over Raees to cover that late middle order weakness, which now slightly more meaningful, because of batting first. At Oval, don't think Imad could have done anything bowling first, but now he can bea factor, defending anything over 275.
 
Ashwin does not bring anything to team except poor fielding. Shami or Umesh missed out on this. :(
 
Bad feelings about fakhar.he has three good innings so this maybe not his day today. I hope im wrong

I dont think its particularly defensive. they have a team they are comfortable with playing and winning with. why do you need to weaken batting.

Indeed and Shadab was only bowler to emerge with any credit after the Birmingham group match.

I'd have dropped darter Imad not Shadab.
 
Disaster. Unless we post 320+ we are going to lose. Can we post 320? I doubt it. Feeling like I just took a body blow!
 
We are winning this. I don't care who is batting, if this bowling is as good as we claim it is, we should be able to defend anything upwards of 250.

It's time for our gun fast bowlers to come to the party. All it takes is 7 good balls to get the top 7. We can do it!
 
Cowards never win, especially not if you're Pakistan.

EDIT: But I digress, we should be supporting our team regardless.

So having THREE spinners is a bit mind boggling

Happy that we are batting first. If chasing is India's strength, if we beat them today, we are well and truly CHAMPIONS!! Go Pakistan!!

I want to remind that we had the game against india in reasonable control till we dropped catches. there's no need to play so many pacers.

Should have played fahim or Rumman in place of Imad/shadab

I think Imad is a better batsman than fahim but he has looked a dud in this tournament whereas fahim looked decent in his cameo
 
Spinners wont get wickets, but also, given pakistan's weak batting with lack of aggressive batsmen, Fahim would have really helped set us a semi-decent score to chase.

Yea man it's absolutely disgraceful to see some Pakistani 'fans' making posts as if, if we had bowled first or selected either Raees or Ashraf we would have been favorites all of a sudden?!

We have had our backs against the wall throughout this competition & it is Sarfaraz and the team who have got us to this stage. Believe in the team and pray for the best In-Shaa-Allah!
