The 1st T20 cricket match between India and Australia is taking place today, on Thursday, November 23, 2023. The venue for the match is the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

This match marks the beginning of Australia’s tour of India, which includes a series of 5 T20Is. Both teams are expected to showcase their T20 specialists, with a focus on new faces as they begin preparations for the T20 World Cup 2024.

The last time India and Australia met in Vizag, which was in an ODI earlier this year, Mitchell Starc took a five-wicket haul in a match-winning performance.

India has lost three of the last five completed T20Is against Australia at home but the only two wins came in the most recent matches.

This is the first time Suryakumar Yadav is captaining the Indian team.

Two teams that met in the final of the ICC World Cup 2023 are going to meet again but this time it will be a different format. I bet India will be looking for some revenge here as they were beaten in the final by the mighty Australia.

This series is important for both teams as t20 world cup will be the next tournament to follow after odi world cup.

More for the Indian supporters than players.

A nice whitewash will help in forgetting the World Cup.

This is worse than IPL (at least IPL is stipulated for some duration & some slot). No time for emotional settlement. This will make players treat cricket like a work in office. Play there regardless of win or loss, just play there...

As a big Indian fan, I think this is the perfect opportunity for India to take revenge

All my sorrow was healed after India beat New Zealand in a bilateral series after losing the semifinal of the 2019 World Cup

Let's see if India can heal my sorrow this time as well or not

This series was scheduled way before world cup. Unless BCCI had a crystal ball which told them that they will lose to Aus in finals, it is not planned for avenging or consoling fans.
Both teams will play their B teams.

There should be a mandatory break of a month after a world cup before any other international cricket can be played.
Just goes to show that people are fed up of the amount of cricket being played nowadays especially with the expansion of leagues.

A decade ago, playing cricket immediately after a World Cup didn't have so much criticisn

I am extending dosti ka haat for the first time and supporting India in this game.

We need to support each other Vs other teams more often (as long as it doesn’t affect us, and other Pakistanis or Indians don’t know irl)

Players must be fed up too. If they aren't then it shows the world cup is meaningless.

A world cup should be a peak achievement. The players and team need time to celebrate and soak it in.

If they dust down the uniforms and go again a weak later it just becomes routine and perfunctory.

International Cricket: the treadmill that never ends.

Why are people fed up? Are they being forced to watch it?

I am fed up of too many movies, too many restaurants and too many books published. The world was so good a decade ago.

There is no end to whining.

I agree.

There is simply way too much cricket. There is like a World Cup every single year.

It is good for generating revenue but also reduces interest.

IMO , countries like PAK, IND, SA, OZ, ENG should not play too much bilateral T20 cricket especially since they all have T20 leagues that are quite successful.

Also, World T20 should happen only every 4 years.

Test series will naturally dwindle and already SA is playing only 2 Test series right now.

Test series should be played during the window of various T20 leagues and only those players who can't make it to the leagues should play Tests.

This will leave enough room in the calendar for bilateral ODIs.

Also, World T20 should happen only every 4 years.

I agree. I honestly don't know why they have to arrange it every 2 years. It makes a mockery.

A genuine World Cup should happen every 4 years. Even other sports are like that (football, rugby etc.).

There should be a gap of 1 month after world cup before next international match. This T20 just after few days of final has no appeal, will draw no interest, valueless and also a cruel mockery .

There's no need for any emotional settlement. Apart from SKY, none of the other Indians in the lineup played in the world cup. They should be raring to seize the opportunity to show what they can do.

India have won the toss and elected to field first. Following are the playing XIs:

Australia: Matthew Short, Steven Smith, Josh Inglis, Aaron Hardie, Marcus Stoinis, Tim David, Matthew Wade(w/c), Sean Abbott, Nathan Ellis, Jason Behrendorff, Tanveer Sangha

India: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ishan Kishan(w), Suryakumar Yadav(c), Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Prasidh Krishna

I would think that if they were to retain only a single player in the XI from Sunday, it wouldn't be smith. Has started pretty well though

Prasidh Krishna is such an impactless and brainless bowler. He reminds me of Srinath from his early days. Just bangs it in short and hopes for the best. Usually gets blasted around the ground.

Mukesh Kumar is another trundler who is nothing special. They could as well play Mohit Sharma. He at least has some good slower balls.

The quality of Indian fast bowling falls off so quickly after Bumrah/Shami/Siraj.

What happened to umran malik? injured?

S Smith what a veteran he is from a WC Final to playing against India "C" true warrior

Not watching on TV who are the commies is the hard-core Indian commentating in the panel like Shastri Majrekar and Harsha

Or the comm. Team is also C Category

Arshdeep should have been in the WC side but we all know why he was left out
Should as would as let bygones be bygones after it was just another game of cricket, what matters is if India wins today, Inda-°Australia played 2 games in a week and both had 1-1 result

Good old mazaydaar bowling by India here

Poor Shastri doesn’t sound good should have taken time off like gavaskar

Krishna looks like a clueless trundler. Bowling short to Aussies on this small ground.

Need about 220 here

One of those rubbish PSL type wickets
