I feel bad for Rahane.
He can play all formats, we restricted him to tests.
Hope one day he will select for ODI's

I disagree, they will never learn. Kayes is the most pathetic player ever. BD pretty much a joke team now getting walloped by even Zim and Afg.

With that being said, they did improve their test bowling a bit. Rohit Sharma yet to score 300 in this series.
 
Indian bowlers bowl to a plan and in the right areas. They also howl in pairs. Their fitness has taken their bowling to the next level.

That is what bowling is about. Our fans see someone bowling at 90mph and do banghra.
 
Fitting that Eden Gardens got the nod as the first D/N Test venue in India. Always have had a soft spot for the grand old ground.

Selecting fraud Imrul was wrong . He is 36, averages <25, and hasn’t crossed 50 in probably last 500 Test innings. He is not improving because he is just not good - you can’t make a knife out of wood. That investment should have gone to a young kid - today, Sadman played really well against that bowling while i am impressed with the development of Jayed, just couple of yards pace, his skill set is good enough to trouble many, many batsmen... he averages 29 in our FC!!!!, means he has developed remarkably in last few months.
 
Bdesh bowlers were swinging the pink ball but could not extract the bounce Shami/ Ishant were getting of the pitch. They need to learn that as well to be successful abroad.

Is Taskin banned/ injured?
 
Where is Bumrah? Is he injured? Ever since he started playing for India, he always keeps coming in and out of the team for all three formats

He is recovering from an injury. IIRC this is his first injury since debuting for Indian in 2016.

With our bowling line up, I would prefer that he is rested for test matches in India (other than Australia and England). Shami, Umesh and Ishant are enough for most teams in India.

Second.

1st time was in mid 2018, missed the odi/t20i series & 1st two tests against England.
 
I know Jadeja is averaging 36 and has batted well lately, but I am still slightly uncomfortable seeing him at 6. I suppose this is fine in India. Hope we have a more solid batsman at 6 when we play in SENA.

However, that would mean playing with only 4 bowlers, unless one of the WK becomes good enough to bat at 6. Either Saha would need to up his batting, or Pant would need to up his keeping.

This stat is meaningless, nevertheless interesting. Jadeja average 90 as No.6

Playing with 4 bowlers isn't bad. Did that in WI and Oz.

Vihari will bat at 6 for India outside Asia and Pant to bat at 7. Jadeja, Shami, Ishant and Bumrah to make it 11. That should be India's lineup as far as XI are concerned for SENA countries.

Rest whoever we play outside SENA, the chances of losing tests are very low. In India, SL and WI, Ashwin, Saha, Pandya and KL Rahul can also win us games with their performance. Ashwin even becomes our biggest match winner.

Its doable. However playing with 5 bowlers means that our pacers are able to come back and bowl with full intensity in the 2nd and 3rd spells.

If we could get a batsman at 6, who can bowl a couple of tight spells, allowing the bowlers to keep fresh, that would be perfect.

In an ideal world, a WK Bat at 6, and someone like Pandya at 7, followed by 4 front line bowlers in SENA would be ideal.

For that Pandya needs to up his batting in tests (he has done well, but needs to slightly improve his batting).

They were bowling in the early 120s. At that pace neither will the ball bounce nor will the batsman have trouble adjusting even if ball swings

I would rather he goes back and plays Ranji this full season.

Looks like Rohit is set to open for the NZ series. Shaw can be the backup for Mayank and Rohit in NZ. So, we hopefully do not need Rahul for 1 season allowing him to get some proper Ranji time.

In an ideal world, do the same for Pant so that he can get his confidence back.

Oh, we would need 2 new openers after NZ series. Mayank and Rohit are sitting ducks. I know it, you know it and everyone know it.
 
dhawan/gambhir have scored runs in nz. nz isn't that tough. india's bowling attack with bumrah is equal to that of nz's if not better.

I would not read too much into 1 dismissal. I am not saying he will definitely to do well in NZ, however with his performances in Australia, he has earned the spot for the trip to NZ and next year to Aus.

Rohit though is another issue. I am truly annoyed by Shastri and Kohli's persistence to try to get him into the team. First at #6, and Vihari secured that spot, now as an opener. This will again not end well for India in NZ.

Nowadays teams give India spicier pitches unlike before. If that is the case, lot of averages will be normalised.

not slightly. needs to improve alot.
 
This is unravelling a little bit too quickly too India in the 2nd session. I had hoped that Kohli would have batted solidly in the 1st hour of the session, and then the whole team would have gone after the bowling in the 2nd hour, declaring just before tea. Giving ourselves 25-30 overs to bowl today. Looks like we will end up bowling 40-45 overs today.

The "second-best team" in asia might lose this test match within two days.

Yes from now on we can have this confidence. People can give the example of last England and South African tours. But we had issues with our batting (opening) and the bowling combination. And the selection mess... But still the series would have gone either way. Once we sort out some loopholes things will improve. Two proper seasoned openers, No.6 batsman (whether allrounder/pure-batsman/wicket-keeper), 4 bowlers or 5 bowlers, 3 seamers + 1 spinner or 2 seamers + 2 spinners (I think this is sorted out now, We should definitely go with just 1 spinner in SENA, our seamers are now good enough, they are overtaking spinners in India itself!). I think SENA are exploiting these loopholes to good effect as of now. If we keep tightening this, then we can become that much stronger & better! In India however these loopholes become negligible and won't have any chance for opposition...
 
Swinging around corners for Ishant.....geeez...a wicket...they've reviewed it...gee whiz...thatz out......
imaging if waqar and wasim were bowling on this pitch in this conditions...they would bowl the all time world xi inside 50

Frankly, this is not an accurate reflection of both teams, the conditions and the ball are swinging too much.......i mean obviously our guys are terrific but they are not dale steyn and andrerson rolled into one....lets not get carried away...its the pink ball that is unplayable..its the conditions that are winning....the big plus for me as a indian is the keeping of super saha...wow....dude is super fit and is just throwing himself around....just awesome

have you seen their stats in the last few years? indian pacers are some of the best. bumrah has a sub 20 avg. shami is 26. bhuvi is 26. ishant's overall numbers are bad because of his old days but he is averaging 26 in last 5 years.
 
The ball is swinging wayyy too much. Even Ashok dinda bowling in such conditions could get the wicket of Steve Smith!

Agreed their stats have gone north, agreed they've improved fantastically ...which to me as a long time india fan is so heartening and am enjoying it...but lets be reaistic.... this pitch and this pink ball is making them unplayable...i guess some of those balls...even smith, root, kW, babar, abdv, faf, etc would struggle to lay bat on....

The way India demolished South Africa and now Bangladesh is just scary to watch. All that without Bumrah.

Agreed their stats have gone north, agreed they've improved fantastically ...which to me as a long time india fan is so heartening and am enjoying it...but lets be reaistic.... this pitch and this pink ball is making them unplayable...i guess some of those balls...even smith, root, kW, babar, abdv, faf, etc would struggle to lay bat on....

our seamers aren't just good enough. They are the best in the world. Our only weakness is rohit sharma in SENA and even he will be replaced by the young stud called Shaw.
 
That's a lot of mental scarring for Bangladesh players. I am sure they didn't come expecting this for Test Cricket in India.
 
Please kindly take this team's test status away. Loser in all forms and levels of the game except U19s.

India once forfeited a test match against West Indies because we couldn't play bouncers. Please never forget history.

yea and that was during a time without proper protective gear like guards,body armour protection helmets etc.
 
If we take Kohli's 135 out we scored just 200 odd from others .... it's super bowler friendly conditions. Thanks to the skipper else this would have been a close match batting last :|
