India defeat England by 3 wickets in the 1st ODI

Proper bowling gets wickets.

Not a great delivery but it was proper bowling.

Gimmicks are good for show only.

Don't know man.

English bowling is too garbage and Indian middle order is shaky.

So anything can happen. We could chase down 300 or we could choke.

My bet is on India chasing it down as long as Eng don't score 350.
 
Roy has already done a good deal of damage. All uphill for us now. Even Rashid can smack a few. They bat until 9 lol.
 
Parthiv Patel would have missed the stumping.

Dhoni is by far our best keeper still. Depressing that thought.
 
There is no point in being in the team if you gonna bowl legside to an open field.

I can stand incompetence but not astounding stupidity.

If he doesn't change his line, I hope Ashwin gets thrashed into oblivion and dropped for Mishra. That's the only way to bring him back to senses.

Ashwin was more of a support act. Jadeja has clearly bowled better and deserved the wicket. Ashwin had nothing to do with it. He has bowled filth so far to the right handers.

This match again shows that Jadeja is a better asset than Ashwin in LOIs. If Ashwin doesn't even pick some crucial wickets, he will almost become a liability in Indian LOI team with his lack of improvised stroke-play and poor running between wickets!
 
To pick wickets, Ashwin has to bowl over the wicket and flight it.

He is not bowling the same way that allowed him to do so well in WC 2015, Bangladesh ODI series.

He is bowling around the wicket on the leg to open field and DARTING it at 90 kph almost every delivery.

He won't pick wickets unless batsmen gift it.

This is why I feel Umesh's catch drop off Ashwin was a blessing in disguise. Such bowling should be carted mercilessly that a bowler should never resort to it except as the last option.

But when dhoni is confident it is OUT always. Amazing...

Jadeja outbowls ashwin even in tests many a times.
If there is slight more bounce along with turn then jadeja is more lethal.If the turn is slow then ashwin more useful.He relies on deceiving in the air as well which jadeja does not. Overall:
Flat pitch : jadeja stump to stump tight lines

I think he will keep improving as far as bowling is concerned. Batting he is confidence player.Low in confidence he will play like tailender.High in confidence he would time the ball well atleast and get job done.He is not pleasing to watch batting anyway.

Both of his decisions have been overturned. And having seen him stand in few matches, his umpiring doesn't inspire any confidence. Don't know why he gets picked for these matches.
 
Kohli did many tactical mistakes in this match! Not bowling Yuvaraj (part of the reason why he is picked in the XI) in middle overs with Ashwin having an off day! This is going to be huge run chase with shaky middle order!

I am enjoying Jadhav's bowling more.

Please never use Ashwin in death overs at any cost! Kohli seems to not have learnt this simple fact through his experience! If Ashwin had an off-day please go with pacers (Why is Yadav not bowling, is he injured? I am not watching the match live!) It is not that Ashwin has to compulsorily finish his quota just because he is our ace spinner!
 
A shambolic bowling performance by us as a team.

Jaddu and Pandya were the saving grace.

Going for runs is understandable on this small ground but we could have done our part by bowling well.

Hope we chase down whatever score England puts up.
 
Lol Kohli will find out Dhoni has been dealing with for all these years. Hope that hairline stays intact.

300+ scores can be chased on any pitch only when everything lies on the same plane (measured & planned batting, contribution from all batsmen, poor opposition bowling/self-pressure + luck). So no team should look to give away 300+ even if the pitch is a belter!

There could be lots of dew (winter). This could help Indian batsmen in this chase (even for that they have to apply themselves). And I am not sure about India's late order batting in LOIs (as much as in Tests). If it clicks as much as in Tests, I will feel comfortable of chasing 300+ But I don't think it is that potent as in Tests. We need to frame & build a totally different combination for that to happen!

Dhoni is still in the team who knows he suggested ashwin to bowl negative line ? He definitely might still have say on the field.

Pitch is flat.Rahul,kohli,yuvraj,dhawan all are capable.Pandya can slog few.Jadhav can be the busy batsman during crucial juncture.

I don't think Kohli is someone who is going to blindly listen to anyone including Dhoni! Moreover I don't think Ashwin will be effective even while bowling over the wicket unless he attacks with lots of spin or tucks up line & length like Jadeja!

Yes seriously.Dhoni would still have a lot of say on the field and kohli would respect it.I am not saying this has happened in case of ashwin bowling negative lines but its a possibility especially since dhoni used to do that during his reign
 
good thing is that their bowlers are weak. All this talk of 'freeing' Dhoni and picking yuvraj, they'll need to be bat freely.
 
No individual hundred, still a total of 350, this English team looks mighty with the bat

But their bowling attack looks tarnish.....the stage is set for kohli to play his cliche inngs
