India v England | India win 4th Test against England by an innings and 36 runs in Mumbai

Ashwin is an absolute beast. He has 5 variations. Amazingly improved bowler. He is slowly creeping towards Murali league.

Very good victory on a slow turner where it wasn't difficult to bat even on the 5th day,but England lost the game on the 4th Day itself

God damn, nightmare Bairstow is still there and i thought we had a chance to get a innings defeat argh, these partnerships!

So Ash gifted you your wish of innings defeat .... Congrats... :)

Not a slow turner. The turn was sharp.

It was a high scoring bouncy quick turner.

They showed 5 variations of Ashwin. Definitely he is the most improved bowler in the last 5 years.

This has been some performance by us considering England won the toss and batted first in three out of the four tests, yet they find themselves trailing 0-3 in the series.

Meanwhile as I type this, Cook coming up with the lack of warm up games excuse in the post match presentation :))

Kohli talking about having better defense :)) being the difference between teams.

India's joint longest unbeaten run at 17 test matches. Another 6 home matches to take it to 23 going to SA.

One should not listen to an Australian if he advises you about how to play in India. #PositiveCricket

Virat Kohli on the difference between the two side: "It's about the application. We spoke about this and we have worked on our defense.

"If you don't have a good defence in India it's very difficult to counter the bowling we have. We sensed they don't have enough faith in the way they go about their innings.

"We knew it's only a matter of time, we take a couple of wickets and they crumble quickly. We knew it wouldn't be long."

It was very good mate, but definitely not as good as KP's famous knock which is arguably the best Test innings of this century so far.

As for this match. Looking like 3-0 to India. It's been a reasonably competitive series throughout, certainly closer than some recent tours of India by other teams - but India keep winning the "big moments" and taking games away from England. Credit to India, they deserve to be in this dominant overall position.

No u r wrong here. This kohli's innings was much better than KP's innings. KP mainly dominated a average spinner like ojha in that match who is not even in Indian squad now.

KP's innings is not even close to being the best test innings of the century. The best test innings of the century without a doubt is laxman's famous 281 against australia following on. It was not just a match winning innings but a series winning innings. It completely changed the direction of series. Australia was unbeaten for last 17 odd tests before that and also won the first test match against India. So it was without doubt the best test innings of century by laxman.

They were actually not merely unbeaten but had won the previous 16 Tests.

Ashwin and Virat are two gems India have got..

With the likes of Rahane, Shami, Pujara and Vijay, India is getting transformed into a formidable unit.

Win the toss win the match has turned into win the toss & lose by an innings lol

Pathetic from eng i would say.....Both nuz n sau's humiliation was justified comparing to this, the former's batting quite looks vulnerable while the latter batted on one of the toughest indian wickets ever

Here u except something from a batting unit which woakes bats at no 8 and none of the wickets have been wild turners but too often the batsmen have looked in a daze

Would have thought the first 3 tests would have been a perfect warm up, no?

Say what you want about India touring away, at home, they're a whole different kind of beast.

Inns wrapped in a jiffy.

Well done to the Indian team. England should have applied themselves better.

I wonder why SA didn't get these kind of wickets when they toured India.
Very disappointing from England, no fight whatsoever.

What an amazing turnaround! Ashwin has had his redemption for the 2012 series and Kohli for the 2014 shocker though the battle in 2018 remains.

Hopefully we can now make it 4-0 at Chennai, another of our fortresses.

Actual real reason in my opinion is that English management doesn't think he is ready.

That is laughable. Im sure he'd not have done worse than Ansari or Batty.

Honestly, they both looked below ordinary. I dont understand England's obsession with bowlers need to bat well. How many more allrounders do they need. Get a specialist in, who can freakin turn the ball. Poor selection.

Played India. They showed England how to play on this sort of deck. Much more concentrated, committed and ruthless, especially Kohli.

Reckon they were experimenting with the wickets when SA toured.. If SA were to tour now, I am pretty sure they would lay down the similar wickets as Eng and NZ tours.

Their goal at this point would be to let the match go on for 4-5 days (due to commercial reasons) and yet home team can still get the advantage. And I believe they have found that combination now in current wickets. SA just happened to tour there first and ended up as guinea pig.

My feeling was that the amount of spin in the tracks for SA was more due to the weather. It was a particularly dry period. I am sure whoever prepared the tracks was asked for spin. I think the indian team would have asked for the kind of tracks we saw in Vizag or Mumbai. But due to the weather, the overall effect was to have over-dry tracks.

So, I don't think it was a conscious decision to go for apple-crumb tracks even for the SA tour. India themselves tripped up even before the South Africans did, if you remember how the first test went (India collapsed first).
