India v England | India win 4th Test against England by an innings and 36 runs in Mumbai

Nasir Hussain and Sanjay Manjrekar arguing about whether it's the difference between the spinners of the two sides or the quality of the batsmen. Perhaps there's merit in both arguments but I tend to agree with Nasir. The Indian batsmen haven't been really tested like the Englishmen have.

England should just throw the kitchen sink now

There's 100 overs left do they certainly aren't going to be holding out for that long. And neither are their batsmen equipped enough to just bide their time and losing wickets is a certainty

So might as well break loose and see if they can gain some lead. Buttlet can do some damage in that mode so who knows.

If they just try to survive they will still get out and probably have an innings loss.

They work concurrently

If Indian batsmen had Jadeja and Ashwin bowling at them they would have struggled more

The problem with Rashid and Moin is that they give too many loose balls which gives the opposition an opportunity to release pressure

I agree. Nasir Hussain talked about the deception in the air that Indian spinners are so good at and that's quite easy to see.

Rashid and Moeen are quite one dimensional when it comes to variations in flight.

But, they are modern cricketer - can average 35 with bat. If you can't bat as a spinner, for 4 days of a Test match you are wastage of a spot.

It just so happens that the best two spinners available can bat some. There are no specialists who can bowl better unless you count poor Monty.

These commies won't stop about the 14 over takes wicket cliche. 20th time they have mentioned.

That too in a situation where drop catches were super common.

They talk in cliches for EVERYTHING. Kohli..Ashwin...Vijay...Pujara....no matter what cliches galore.

Damn....I wish we Indians had Sky instead of the garbage Star.

Such inferior skills in analysis.

I didn't get that. His SR is like 50. So in the 9th over.

Whats this 14th over thing?

England have been real disappointing this series. They have a decent team. They should be competing much better.

God damn, nightmare Bairstow is still there and i thought we had a chance to get a innings defeat argh, these partnerships!

Apparently he takes 14 overs to take his first wicket.

So they go on and on and on without any regards to country, pitch, situation or even drop catches.

Nothing wrong with it but when all you have is some cliches and stats to talk about....it gets boring.

But then when was Star ever thought provoking.

"Ball gone but done his job."

An English commie says it.

Now THIS (as small and trivial as it may be) is something interesting. They really engage in meaningful debates and do have fun with small talks too.

As I speak, Sanjay or Laxman is bringing up the 14th over stat again. :)))

You can't straighten a dog's tail.

Good to see 6 down thank God for the lead our dropped catches could had cost us.

Jayant just called Manjrekar "sir" ,should hear him in the commentary and hopefully he would stop that.

So what is the strategy from Buttler and Bairstow tomorrow morning?

Go all guns blazing is probably the only choice.

Jayant' has taken Root twice it seems, guess its underestimating the spinner issue.

Have that fear of England sneaking a victory if they get a lead of 100 above hopefully not.

lol what.....

Ain't happening.

Don't you see whats happening with the pitch.

The bounce is NEGATING ALL THE EFFECTS OF TURN.

Ashwin and Jaddu would have ended with a 5fer today and bundled out other teams if you cancel out the bounce and just keep the turn.

The bounce removes lbws out of picture. It gets the ball to lob up but land safely beyond the close in fielders. It gets the ball to sit up nicely to smash.

You bowl good length, batsmen can stay on the back foot and defend.

You bowl full, batsmen can drive you.

You bowl short, batsmen can smash you.

You have to bowl in the SMALL AREA between good length and full length with flight and dip to get results. Or else oohs and aahs only for you. Luck and bad shots will only get you wickets.

Even if England set 200 (unlikely)....India would likely chase it if pitch's bounce remains true.

Remember the days when almost everyone thought he isnt cut out for Test cricket :))

He started tests with a bang. I don't remember any who said that but I may be wrong.

Whats wrong is people calling him a rank turner bully.

Jaddu is an asset that can't be quantified. His average will look better than the bowler he is...but his true value for the team is GREATER than what people give him credit for.

He is the kind that every main spinner would love to have as a partner. He helps others get good stats.

Very complicated to explain. Haha.

The bounce will remain imo but defn the pitch is not historically similar to Wankhede pitches the 1st,2nd,3rd innings average totals have already been crossed.

Remember during 2005 series Australia wasn't able to do anything here because of pitch conditions not sure if the authorities wanted to extend this to 5th day or Parthiv wanted and our catching is the only reason where I'm thinking they will drop Bairstow twice more tmrw.

Sadly a bad WK produces incredible psychological impact on bowlers and team.

I wonder how Danish Kaneria must have felt. Got his career stats destroyed by that joker Kamran.

Crazy morning session from Bairstow/Buttler and anything is possible.

Keep in mind India have no reviews left and are poor catchers (in this series).

Lets say they get 150 in morning and are 100 hundred

Score another 100 in 2nd session.

Just one session left to play out.We arent getting out under 150 here against Rashid and Moeen

It was before his debut.Since he was a darter,it was thought he wouldnt do well in Tests. Now has bunnies in Clarke and Cook :))

Whats good about him is that he'll always give you something and never be a liability. If wickets are not coming,he can be used to make sure that the game doesnt run away from you quickly.Thats what every captain wants

Hope his batting comes good too.Has shown signs of maturity lately

Yeah his batting has shown definite improvement. Hope he cuts out his big booming six shot and reduces the odds of getting out.

Bowling wise....Jaddu is useful even when he can't pick wickets.

Jadeja must be the 3rd most valuable player in this Indian Test team after Ashwin and Kohli. What a massive turnaround from being a supposedly 'bits-and-pieces' player who was selected as a 5th bowler who bats a bit amidst near universal disapproval by Indian fans 4 years ago. He was deemed as a T20 specialist completely ill-suited for Test cricket. Ironically, T20 is his weakest format and Test cricket the strongest!

What makes Jadeja such an asset is that whatever the match situation or the pitch conditions he rarely goes wicketless or concedes a lot of runs and almost never does both at the same time. Over the course of a match or series that adds up to excellent bowling figures.

He also makes clutch contributions with the bat. I believe his 32 not out saved India in the first Test when we were six down in the last session. Also his 90 in the second Test broke English morale and they folded in their second innings. His 68 in Lords was instrumental in us winning that Test.

His fielding is electric.

But the best thing about him is his "sword play" celebration!

They wont declare. It way well happen that they being all out and we chasing a target of 150 in 40 overs could be tricky

Why isnt Jack Leach playing? Heard he is one of the highest wicket takers this year

Cos apparently he takes a lot of wickets but since they are taken in spin friendly pitches (in his county)....they don't count. :))

I ain't kidding you.

Even Ansari and Batty have got selected ahead of this fellow.

Swann ripped into English management even before the Ind series reg this.

He said "what do pitches in India do...they freaking SPIN...get Leach in."

More likely reason is that he can't bat.England want everyone especially spinners to contribute with the bat

That sword celebration ... has gotta be the most impressive , original and coolest one bar none ...

Chris Rogers came out before the series and said he didn't feel he was ready for international cricket yet, a slightly damning statement from your county captain. I notice the moaning about Leach has died down a bit since he only managed to take 2 wickets overall in the England lions 4 day game against Afghanistan in the UAE.

England have been the most competitive team here by a fair margin..

Would love for SA to tour india once again after the rise of QDK/ Rabada/ Abbott to determine if they can match the English effort

Indians may have to bat again for some 50-60 runs at the most. Should be all over before the Tea !!!!

Innings defeat for England inspite of winning the toss that is probably the worst stat this season by visiting team imo and Ash 24th 5fer

Game over, well done ash another 6fer, good to have an innings win despite conceding 400.
