why do u have to selectively quote me oxy?

I cudnt find the match thread and the OP also says why there is no match thread. It was a confusion.
Since you quoted me, there was no confusion. I saw that the day1&2 thread had been archived, the match was an hour into the 3rd day and nobody had created a day 3 thread. So I went ahead and started one, surprised that I was the one creating it so late, because usually people will create match threads days in advance. (Obviously not days, but you get the point.)

great going, i hope it rains enough so that south africa save this test match with 1 wicket in hand. Its a great encounter and things will be great to watch when south africa has just 3 wickets in hand in last 10 overs of the match, but if that happened, south africa will choke. They are no england, but in any case i dont want india to win!

:))) India opening with Harbhajan, their pacers have been demoted

Kallis gone.

Saffers staring down the barrel.

India are on top but and they will be very frustrated by the rain. I hope play continues today.

SA will do well to scrape a draw out of this. Amla and Prince need to bat pretty much the rest of the match as the rest of them are just cowlashers.

We will need about 2 sessions to wrap this up. Facing the spinners is going to be tough here,, there is lot of turn with bounce on offer. Bhajji and Mishra are looking completely different bowlers here.

Good news for us is we might have a full day tomorrow with lots of sunshine :)

the weather prediction in india sucks..
yesterday they predicted for full day rain but no a single drop rained.
tommorow they predict sunshine , maybe it will happen in opposite?

We will have to finish this off tommorow, no rain expected should be a fine day.........

Thats a shame the outfield looked like it need a days worth of rain on it to make it grow ;-)

That's stumps. The play has been abandoned for the day. The covers remain on and the umpires return.

Stumps - Day 4 | South Africa | 3/115 | 35 Overs | Trail by 232 runs | India need 7 wickets to win

It will be a shame if the rain spoils S.A chances of saving game tomorrow :)

You do realise that in thos two games they were 9 down England had a massive collapse in the last 10 overs to make them 9 down ? That's pretty much a choke to me and says nothing of "steely nerves". They panicked.

I think in Test cricket of late South Africa are the most likely team to not panic down chasing a score. Proved it over and over. Playing to draw a game I don't know if we good or bad. Haven't had to do it much the past few years. Tomorrow If we get a goodsession partnership for the next 1 or two wickets I think it can be done.

Dropped catches .. batting collapses .. strange tactics .. Saffers pulling off a Pakistani worthy performance here :P

I don't think SA can bat 80 overs. Minimum required to get close to saving the match if they bat at 3.5 an over. India will not take the light if they get 50 runs to chase in 7 overs. If SA bats at lower rate then they need to bat out the whole day.

Huh ? They have to bat the whole day anyway. And yes , I think that will be about 80 overs going by the light conditions the past few days.

Most South Africans I spoke to agree with you that we have a very small chance of saving the game.

#1 team should be able to save a game by batting 80 overs

Not when they are 3 down and just 3 batsmen left. The match should be over in 60 overs - tea time

A good partnership can settle the nerves in the SA dressing room and they will have to bat very well to save the test. These two and the next bastmen hold the key. India will attack all day, and 70 runs can be chased down in 7 overs, India have the batsmen and will go for it.

As some members stated, 80 overs will probably be played tommorow, although India will push for more.

On a fifth day turning pitch against two spinners?

Then they deserve the #1 hands down.

This is the test of South Africa's capabilities. I agree, deserving Number 1 team should be able to face the storm. I still believe Australia with Ponting & Clarke in this situation would have saved this game or England with Paul Collingwood, but i dont think any other team including India would have been able to save this game from this situation. South africa will follow the same path.

It will be a miracle if SA draws it. Them lasting till tea will be a decent achievement

Depends on how many runs South Africa give to india (if it gets that far) because there are no field restrictions in tests. Thus, Smith could easily put everyone on the boundary and force the Indians to deal in singles.

I doubt it's gonna get that far. I expect India to wrap this up before tea.

The less restrictions also mean that they can bowl a little more outside the off or leg stump and it won't be wide.

I agree that most likely outcome is an innings defeat

Ah the delusion of Indian fans "I thought Vee were the good guys"

:))) :)))

At least get it right FFS.

It's all relative - Indians are the good guys when there are Aussies in the mix.

Someone pointed out in cricinfo commentary that ICC has amended the rule and there is no more offering light to the batsmen, two umpires will consult themselves and if they decide that light is bad, they just take the players off. I'm not sure if it is true, someone has to verify it.

you know, Bhajji is very naughty. sometimes he intentionally fools us by not taking any wicket :)) :))

I dont like bhajji one bit so im hoping he gets smashed today:D

me 2, but if SA has to lose, its better they should lose right now then to keep us awake late night only to lose it in last 5 overs.

:))) :))) right. Bhajji on

Luck is not favouring us at all.Our only decent pacer got injured. And Dhoni for some strange reason is over defensive.

once his bowler get into groove field will be attacking. He dont want to give too many runs and make Sa batters feel in.
