Mid off and long off in place and Manju saying good field placings. Neither a single nor a lofted shot is possible.

Each run will hurt Dhoni here..should have played some seamer instead of Chawla or Jadeja

Tough to say , another seamer would have made better impression, but Dhoni is not the one to blame fully , I am sure playing 4 slow bowlers was decided after some meeting.

Also Ashwin and Jadeja can bat well.

Good session in terms of runs. Would've loved to see Matt still batting, anyway Root batted brilliantly, no trouble at all.

We need something over 320-330 atleast.

Root playing a fantastic innings for the team. He is the type of guy you want at number 6 because as Sky Sports said he can block like Boycott but he is also a handy one-day player so can play shots when he wants.

Root is such a pain in the butt.Get him out already! India must be the the easiest place for debutants to get off the mark.

I have a message for my Pakistan friends from your English friend here.

After we beat India I would like to ask you to please beat India too in the upcoming series :)

300 up. I'll be honest, didn't think we'd reach it after Bresnan bottled it.

Unfortunately Monty is useless and Anderson will only get 10 runs off two gorgeous fours before missing a straight one.

Good knock from Joe Root on debut. Shame none of the Indian crowd clapped him off in appreciation.

Lost his patience, very good inns none the less 👏

302/8 another 20-30 is a bonus here. Swann need to change gear.

Meh, most SC crowds rarely seem to show appreciation for a good performance from other teams.

England, SA, Aus all seem to applaud other people doing well (except for when Eng and Aus play)

Indeed, excellent knock, especially for a position they've been trying to fill for a while. Early days, but the poms may have finally found their replacement for Collingwood.
