As per reports, Bengal fast bowler Akash Deep, 27, is likely to make his Test debut during fourth Test against England in Ranchi which starts on Friday. Akash is set to play in place of Jasprit Bumrah, who has been released for the game to manage his workload.
India is blessed with talents like Mukesh and Akashdeep.

I am sure Akashdeep is a like for like replacement of Bumrah.

In fact it would be an amazing way to troll Indian fans if Siraj also gets dropped and India go in with the deadly duo of Mukesh and Akashdeep. :waqar :wasim :akhtar

Rank turners will bridge the gap between Eng and Indian spinners.

Except Yashshwi, Sarfaraz and Jhurel, every one in the Indian team has looked toothless so far against spin. Such a sad sight. I hope rRanchi pitch is rank turner and Indian team gets blanked by these English newbie spinners.

Looking at the chaos that is going on i don't think BCCI doesn't take this series seriously. There is no due research on who is doing well in domestic. May be they are waiting for IPL to start.

England might be losing this test as well. It will get boring now that happens. Really want the final and 5th match of the series to be a thriller.

"Never Seen Something Like That": Ben Stokes' Massive Take On Ranchi Pitch

England cricket team skipper Ben Stokes was taken aback by the pitch for the fourth Test match against India in Ranchi and said that he has "never seen anything like that before". The match starting Friday is a must-win for the visitors if they want to clinch the series as they currently trail 1-2 in the five-match series. In a recent interview, Stokes said that he found the appearance of the pitch in Ranchi quite deceptive as he felt it has a proper grass cover from a distance but on a closer inspection, the all-rounder found that there were several visible cracks and can be challenging for both the batting and bowling sides.

"I've never seen something like that before. I have got no idea so I don't know what could happen. If you looked down one side of opposite ends it just looked different to what I am used to seeing, especially out in India. It looked green and grassy up in the changing rooms, but then you go out there it looked different: very dark and crumbly and quite a few cracks in it," Stokes told BBC Sport.

England would not mind a rank turner in the fourth Test because assistance to spinners from the word go will make it a level-playing field, vice captain Ollie Pope said on Wednesday.

The Tests in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Rajkot all had sporting pitches, which were not predominantly spin-friendly and had something for everyone.

"If it does spin from ball one, it takes the toss out of the equation, then it's an even playing field," Pope told reporters.

"A lot of the time the wicket starts out flat and then deteriorates. We won the first game batting first, India the last two batting first. It doesn't define the result if you bat first on slightly flatter wicket but it does give you an advantage," he added.

Ollie Robinson makes it into the playing 11 for Rehan Ahmed, to face India in the 4th Test match of the series at Ranchi.

Big Changes In Bowling Line-Up As England Name Playing XI For Ranchi Test

England on Thursday announced their playing XI for the fourth Test against India, starting Friday in Ranchi. The visitors, who trail the five-match series 1-2, have made two changes to the side which suffered a heavy defeat in Rajkot last week. Ollie Robinson and Shoaib Bashir have replaced Mark Wood and Rehan Ahmed. England lost the third Test by 434 runs, the biggest-ever win for India in Tests in terms of runs. The visitors had won the opener in Hyderabad, but have suffered defeats in the last two games and find themselves behind in the series.

Despite his recent struggles, Jonny Bairstow has managed to keep his place in the XI, as earlier suggested by both captain Ben Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum that they are not worried about the star batter's form.

Veteran pacer James Anderson also keeps his place despite reports suggesting that he might be rested for the game.

On the eve of the team announcement for the 4th Test, England captain Stokes praised Robinson and said that he has worked "incredibly hard" even after not taking part in the first three Test matches against India.

Adressing the pre-match press conference, Stokes accepted it could be "tough" for a player like Robinson not to be included in the first eleven of the first three Test matches of the five-game series.

"He has worked incredibly hard while he has been out here. And it is tough for someone like Ollie, who's played such a big part in the game over the last two years, where he has not taken part in a game and the stuff he has done away from the game itself has been very good," Stokes had said.

Bashir comes back to the side after missing the previous game, replacing the struggling Ahmed.

England playing XI for 4th Test:

Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Ben Stokes (C), Jonny Bairstow, Ben Foakes (wk), Tom Hartley, Ollie Robinson, Shoaib Bashir and James Anderson

I really enjoy cricket when the top tier teams play tests, it's such a good contest. This is what real cricket is all about. The next good contest will be Australia's tour of NZ.

The thing is in tests you dont have to play every ball..
As per a sports channel, It seems our highly intelligent team management is supporting patidar again for the tomorrow's match. I always feel whenever their preferred batters like KL should make a comeback, they will persist with the failures in the middle order. Remember they have not picked sarafaraz or jaiswal ,when kl was supposed to make a comeback in that position. They even picked sky in a test match .

India batting coach Vikram Rathour on Thursday said the Ranchi wicket hosting the fourth Test against England has "enough cracks" and would favour the spinners but insisted they have enough firepower to cope with any condition.

"Everytime we play in India, there's question mark on the pitch ... It's a typical Indian wicket, there are cracks, this wicket always had cracks," Rathour told reporters on the eve of the match.

"It will turn, but how much it will turn and from when we are not sure. But we have enough balance in our team."

Decent selection from England.

Robinson looks very lean, best shape I’ve seen him in. He should be handy here.

Mukesh Kumar is back lol .. who is this man's dodgy patron in the BCCI. Need to find out. Indian cricket is back resorting to patronage/favoritism rather than merit.

I think it's aggrevated by Rohit's preferential treatment for Sky/MI players.Dravid took care of KL. Team management became too selfish to an extent of discarding team needs.I never expected this much nonsense from Dravid. As a fan of him,i was too embarrassed.

I am a bit wary of pitch where mediocre English spinners may become threatening. This might backfire like it did in recent times.

Stop the panic people. India played the last game virtually with 4 bowlers and even Jadeja not a full strength as a bowler and we still won easily

We're favourites though there are obviously no guarantees. Mukesh or no Mukesh, our bowlers will get it done. The batters need to hold their end up. The middle order is the worry.

Rohit favoured MI players yet he dropped Ishan? Had Sarfaraz failed, then narrative of him backing Mumbai players would have been propagated.

Dravid has shown always been biased. He has always given preference to his favourites when he was the captain or during coaching tenures for different IPL franchises or India A. He gets overrated for his U19 success. His successor achieved same results with weaker sides on paper.

He comes from an extremely poor background so that rules out the possibility of him having any godfather in the system. Unfortunately, our domestic structure is such that mediocre players end up as top performers. And if they do well in one format, they are picked in all the formats (Mukesh has performed well only in the red ball but got around 15 white ball games where he failed even in domestics/IPL).

Rohit shamelessly picked sky for aus tests.Even more ridiculous thing is sky getting picked for wtc final as a reserve player where everyone knows sky won't suit for test format. Rohit being unfit and in the limited formats he occupies jaiswal/sai sudarshan place is the most damaging thing he do right now.

That's interesting. But his red ball stats are not very good either, so wonder how he got picked.

Akash Deep makes his debut, a bowling all rounder, is he another Shardul Thakur?

Pitch looks dry as a desert. Lots of cracks are expected and can come sooner than we expect.

India continue with Rajat Patidar. Wow. Must be a really good batter. :virat

Some breaking news out of the England camp in Ranchi this morning, with 19-year-old leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed leaving the tour for personal reasons.

It is beyond understanding why patidar is still playing. WHo is this new guy akash? He comes out of nowhere to replace bumrah. Is he that good?

Dravid loves guys who toil in domestic grind. He is not a fan of IPL sensations.

Well Akash Deep is not going to be the reason we lose this game if it comes to that. He's taken his wicket

Feel for Akash deep , denied a wicket due to no ball. Poor lad now can't recover

Huge disappointment for the debutant as Akash dismantles Crawley's stumps with an absolute ripper - the off-stump cartwheeling out of the ground - but he has overstepped, so the England opener survives!

Akash can be a good replacement for Shardul if he is a competent no 8 batsman.

Can he get wicket again i still remember varun Aaron bowled warner but that was no ball Warner punish him after that a lot that's the end of aaron

no one is good enough to replace Bumrah . His not playing & England batting 1st gives them huge advantage . Bowled Crawley but was a no ball !

commies all over the place about pitch - has variable bounce - will get better once moisture goes away - will get slower - will crumble . Wonder what is the common consensus ?

Nice sporting pitch? Batsmen get value for good shots, bowlers get something out of it when line & length is spot on.

Stokes and his never ending hyperboles!

England have been so lucky this morning, winning toss so that sooks don't get chance to sook about it, getting a huge reprieve on a no ball and still they have lost 2 wickets already.

WICKET! Duckett c Jurel b Akash 11 - England 47-1
Beauty!

Akash has deserved that. He has bowled brilliantly so far on debut, unfortunate not to bowl Crawley earlier off a no-ball...

No doubt about this one, the Indian quick tempting Duckett into a feathered edge behind.

WICKET! Pope lbw b Akash 0 - England 47-2
Akash has two in the over!

Pope can consider himself very unlucky to be honest, as he got a good stride in there... Akash gets yet more extravagant movement to nip one back to the right-hander, but there is too much doubt for the umpire to give it.

No bother, India review and three reds light up to see the back of the England No 3 to his second ball.

Oh man. this akash guy is makin the ball talk. Brilliant over from him.

Akash Deep is bowling consistently above 140k, getting good movement off the pitch and is fairly accurate.

Why the hell were India playing Mukesh ahead of him ?
