Liverpool ask PGMOL about disallowed Van Dijk goal

Liverpool have made contact with Professional Game Match Officials Limited to raise their concerns over the decision to disallow Virgil van Dijk's goal in Sunday's 3-0 defeat at Manchester City.

With City winning 1-0, Van Dijk appeared to have equalised with a header but the effort was ruled out on the field, a decision confirmed after a Video Assistant Review.

VAR determined Andrew Robertson was in an offside position because he was positioned in front of goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and was deemed to have made an obvious action by ducking directly in front of the Italian.

However, the Anfield club does not accept, according to the wording of the rules, that the relevant criteria for an offence was met for referee Chris Kavanagh to disallow the Liverpool captain's effort in the 38th minute of the game.

Coping mechanism. Huge pressure on this club after spending near 1B and highest net spend over the summer. Liverpool and City are not at peak yet they are worried and not confident .

If Arsenal win it well done , enjoy etc but was expected. If Arsenal bottle it all again , the humiliation will be historic

What Slot delivered last season was brilliant but it's actually probably going to hurt him as anything less than the same and it will be seen as failure (and I get why, the spend etc)

If the seasons could be swapped around then Slot would be better for it, having this season would be seen as normal after losing a legendary manager, however when you win the league with no signings, you then spend big then understandably you are expected to get even better and that hasn't happened

Not sure how relevant to the progress but from a human psychology POV he may be feeling personally under pressure - yes he won last year, but if he fails this year, last year will be written off as winning with Klopps team. It could be playing on his mind and an uncertain manager often projects that on his team.

Won everything as a player, won as a player manager by scoring the winning goal in the last game of the season, won as a manager, won with Blackburn, and came back to win another trophy with Liverpool when they were going through a bad patch., add in his early stints at Celtic and its hard to think of any other British player that has achieved more in the game.
