What's new

Liverpool FC 2025/26 Season

Just like Man city are finding and Liverpool, trying to rebuild a defence is never an easy job.

The 2 full backs both needed time to settle in, integrating both at same time was a Slot mistake. But both are doing well now they have settled in finally.

Not signing Gheui or anyone else was just plain dumb, that's on recruitment team, why leave it to last day of Transfer window, should have been done earlier.

Van Disney getting his pension fund, then blaming every one after his continual mistakes, when he's suppose to be the leader is biggest culprit of all. Its no shock. The defence tool ages to gel when you have a player more interested in blaming other then helping the defence as a unit.

That's instability at back has effected whole team, until Liverpool get a solid base again rest of team will struggle.

New recruitment wad needed, new players should have been slowly integrated. But van Disney and Mo "I don't need try any more" salah are biggest culprits in Liverpools failing this season so far

I would look at Senesi on a Bosman, solid backup CB alongside Leoni.

Left-footed, 28, prem experience and the free transfer is excellent value.

VVD deserves a good send-off, the new starting CB pairing is still up in the air for the new season.

Very good points....

Wirtz has improved alot in the last month or so. No surprise it took time to get used to the Physicality and the Pace of the PL. We are now seeing the pure footballing ability of this guy.

Ekitike is such a silky player. Incredibly talented player. Really surprised Arsenal didn’t go for him but maybe because they and many other clubs thought he’d be raw.

Think Liverpool will do well in CL and 2nd half of the PL season, especially with Writz settled in.

Ekitike and Wirtz were purring. Both are good to watch. Ekitike giving Torres/Henry vibes.

Mbappe and Ekitike partnership at the WC should be something :stokes

The defence is still a gaping issue....

Too much of an achilees heel.

Standby the fact that Liverpool need a minimum of 2 centre halves- even if Konate stays.

Senesi is a good backup option on a bosman but a marquee name is needed to partner Konate (if he stays) or another.

Plus that RW option that is missing long term- ideally with the flexibility to play across the front line.

Jeremy Jacquet...55m.

A lot of potential but someone that might need some time. An established CB is really needed, for that sort of money, would be in people like schlotterbeck and not far from Bastoni.

If Jacquet reaches his potential, then fine but more risk of the unknown

Don’t know much about this kid so can’t comment. I hope he is not a bench signing.

I Do not think he is but he is raw!

It is fraught with risk as he is not established, most young CB's from ligue 1 have taken a bit of time to adapt (those that succeeded anyway).

Have not seen Jacquet live but two of the best Liverpool online analysts in Josh Williams and Ben Bocsak rate his aerial ability very highly (70% success rate this season which is really good). He's also captained France at junior levels.

His passing ability remains to be seen.

Just a shame Rennes wouldn't sanction a move this window.

I have only seen bits of him, tall and fast with some power, my onlu concern is he dives into a bit, yellow cards waiting to happen if his timing is off.

Most ligue 1 defenders take a couple of seasons to mature- even some of th4 best like Saliba took their time. I was and am still hoping for an established signing
