What's new

New Zealand beat Bangladesh by 7 wickets in the first Test

Cameras shaking because of the strong winds.

Good knock by Latham, need him to turn it into a real big 100 now.

It's all on him now.

BD bowling required to step up , to create a history here , unfortunately they are not doing that.

How has the debutant subhasis roy bowled?

Looked like a harmless trundler to me during the BPL, never thought he'd play for Bangladesh.

had exam today couldn't watch the match.

Apparently we dropped 3 catches so i don't see how we could force a result by dropping catches. We are officialy worse than Pakistan when it comes to fielding even though my Pakistani brothers would disagree.

Will be a winless tour for Bangladesh. However, i can excuse the boys because this was our first bilateral tour to Alien conditions after quite a while, 6 years to be accurate. Did play in the WC 2015 but the pitches there were hardly typical Aus/NZ wickets

Raval (didn't add much after that) and Nicolls twice (not international standard).

Poor shot from Latham, should look to get the lead down to 50-80 quickly and declare.

I have a feeling Kiwi's can still win this one. If they get near the score or any sort of lead, the pressure on the Bangladeshi batsmen will be immense. Kiwi's could bowl them out for 150 and knock of the runs in one session.

They still trailing by 175 , to win they have to bowl exceptionally well here.

If they bat for another 40 overs at their current rate, they will only trail by around 30 runs.

It's not so much their bowling but the pressure on the Bangladeshi batsmen will could cause their downfall.

Should hit out and score as many as they can, no point sticking around and wasting time the way we are atm.

I do have the same feeling. Ever since England got bundled out twice in a row despite scoring 400 and 470 in the two matches against India last month, I don't write any team off even if they Concede 400-500 in the first innings, especially if the opposition is mentally weak and inexperienced. Bangladesh epitomizes the both mentioned qualities.

What on earth is the game plan here?

Are we blocking out for the draw? Just hit out and get in there and bowl...

What Kiwis are trying to achieve here?
That's the question most Kiwi fans have often been left asking since Kane took over. This intent should have been shown last session, we wasted the last session and only handed over momentum to Bangladesh. Kane is a very defensive captain and is playing for the draw.

25 Overs left today - 123 in total. Ideally, I'll love to see us blasting 240 all out in 55 overs & set 300 in 80 overs.

But, I think, Mushi will settle for a draw, which still is a very good result.

We must not do a Azhar Ali here with 56 lead.

Bangladesh have beaten us in all departments.

Batted better, bowled better and fielded better.

Kayes averages just 28 in Test , not really good , he is a much better batsman than that. I hope he pushes that in the mid 30 s

Most BD batsmen are actualy better than their average, apart from Momin. This is because of early start in career for a weaker team.

Will this double blow (one retired hurt) haunt Bangladesh?? Will they choke from this very good position to loose the match??? That will be sad loosing from 4day commanding position to loose.

I never rely on mahmudullah in test. He is a liability in test. He should be out from out test squad and play only ODI. Hope today he make me wrong and do something special to at least draw the match if not win.
