One of Mian Aamir's business director Mian Aslam ( along with two others ) is running on PTI ticket. You can confirm from somebody in Lahore :)

They are Araain baraadry, they all are supporting Imran Khan.

Nope, was a establishment and military stooge before he came to power...used to call Ayub Khan, "Daddy", which is emblematic of the insidious, unscrupulous, do anything for power, low class nature of a truly despicable human being...

A profound insult and injustice to Imran to be compared to an egregious, narcissist and fake individual as Bhutto...

I agree. I believe while he made some decent decisions, he was mainly interested in gaining power. People overrate him. I wouldn't even begin to compare him with someone like Imran Khan, who I believe is sincere to the cause.

@ Tonight with Jasmeen show. NA 122 interviews

Jasmeen asked him is he tired of load shedding. The guy went on to say that he is tired to the core and his shop cant run properly, it is summer as well so it makes it even more tougher nowadays. He tells her that over the 5 years it has gone on and worsened.

Further she asks him, 'tabdeeli arahi hai?'. He says 'bilkul arahi hai. Nawaz Shareef jo ayega'. Jasmeen says PML N was already in control of Lahore, what change will it bring further now, he said PML N wasnt in control it was PPP. PML N is just controlling a small province called Punjab and an even small city called Lahore. They cannot be blamed for this.

Jasmeen was left laughing at these comments.

Goes to show you the intellect of these Nooras.

Mian Aslam Iqbal as PTI MPA candidate and Mian Aamir Mahmood are supporting Imran Khan.....Mian Aslam Iqbal has been Punjab minister in Pervaiz Elahi cabinet and is a close associate of former city nazim and businessman Mian Aamir Mahmood (the owner of Dunya News,MAJU,Punjab Colleges,UCP, and many more enterprises)

67 former nazims and naib nazims from Lahore joined PTI some days back, because of Mian Aamir and Mian Aslam Iqbal.........And these nazims and naib nazims have personal relations at grass roots level........

Ofcourse they also came in PTI fold after seeing its support at grass roots level...

So now lets all be realistic here how many seats can PTI get from Punjab.

Multan has 6 seats.
Sialkot has 5 seats.
Faisalabad has 11 seats.

Judging by the response in Multan,Sialkot, Faisalabad can PTI atleast win 10-15 out of those?

There was a very good analysis in Dawn News about South Punjab ...According to which PTI has good chance of winning 14 seats out of 48 seats in South Punjab....In these seats PTI candidates have their own personal vote bank along with party vote...

In Sialkot and Faisalabad PTI do not have strong candidates .....It depends on turn out...

Rationally thinking at this stage PTI looks like competing on about 90 seats in Punjab and winning about 30 seats in Punjab....unless some serious wave is generated...

We need educated and middle class families to come out for PTI ,,,

That means PTI can only muster about 50 seats to the max?

Im sure it has to be more than that? We won't go anywhere in the Parliament with 50 seats.
 
At this point the election will be decided on turn over and first time voters. Remember there are 90 million potential voters, this is huge increase over last election. Even if just 50% votes thats mean 10 million more votes then in 2008.

So lets wait and see, at the moment no one can predict rationally. Also alot less dandli this time around compared to last election.
 
Imran Khan has done his job now all up to people to go to polling stations and vote. I can't ask for anything else.

A lot depends on the turn out,......We need a turn out of atleast 60 percent to succeed..but I do not see it exceeding beyond 50 percent.....Last year it was about 45 percent ....but in reality the turn out was only about 25 percent because 20 percent of votes were bogus.....

Express news and City 42 reporting that a brawl took place between N league and PTI workers in Garhi Shahu.....And many PTI workers have been injured......

I think Garhi Shahu is situated in NA-122 from which Imran Khan is contesting....

The May 11 election appears too close to call, with two main contenders enjoying almost the same voter approval ratings and the third one being not very far behind, the results of an exclusive public opinion poll conducted by the Herald magazine show.

A very high 95.1 per cent of the 1285 poll respondents say they are registered to vote and 25.68 per cent of these registered respondents say they intend to vote for Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN), 24.98 per cent of them say their vote will go to Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) and another 17.74 per cent want to vote for Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).


In Punjab, where more than half of all National Assembly contests will take place, PMLN seems to be the party of choice, with 38.66 per cent of the respondents indicating support for it, followed by PTI at 30.46 per cent. The outgoing ruling party in Islamabad, PPP, is trailing way behind at 14.33 per cent.

In Sindh, PPP still enjoys the biggest share of support with 35.21 per cent respondents indicating it as their party of preference, followed by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) with 19.37 per cent support, PTI with 8.45 per cent support and PML-N with 8.1 per cent among the survey respondents.

This is despite the fact that 50 per cent of the respondents in the province have rated the federal government’s performance as poor or very poor.

In Khyber Pakthunkhwa, PTI is leading with 35.41 per cent support among the respondents while PML-N (with 12.92 per cent support) and Awami National Party (with 12.44 per cent support) are two distant runners-up.

Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) has the highest backing among the poll respondents in Balochistan, at 19.18 per cent, with PPP a distant second at 8.22 per cent. The two parties leading nationally, PML-N and PTI, only have 2.74 per cent and 5.48 per cent support respectively among the respondents in Balochistan.

The poll, conducted by the Herald in March 2013 in 42 districts and two tribal agencies across Pakistan and being published in the magazine’s special pre-election issue scheduled to hit newsstands today (Wednesday), also shows high level of distrust among the respondents about the polling process. As many as 65.6 per cent of them feel that elections in Pakistan are neither free, nor fair nor transparent. Only 29 per cent respondents believe that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has the capacity to ensure free, fair and transparent elections; the number of those who are unsure about it (responding in “Maybe”) is much higher at 49 per cent. Those who say that it does not have that capacity are 22 per cent of the poll respondents.

While the respondents show an eagerness to vote (over 66 per cent of them say they will vote no matter whether the polls are free, fair and impartial or not), a significant portion of them (40 per cent) says the biggest disincentive to vote comes from the feeling that the government policies will not change. Another 24.48 per cent identify political apathy as the biggest hindrance to casting the ballot and 19.14 per cent find corruption as the discouraging factor.

Expert survey indicates otherwise

Meanwhile, the results of an exclusive Herald survey, conducted among ten distinguished experts on Pakistan’s electoral politics, indicates that the May 11 election will result in a National Assembly in which none of the three leading parties will win a simple majority of the seats.

The survey conducted in March and April 2013, and involving experts from academia, think-tanks and civil society organisations, shows PML-N getting the highest percentage of seats – at 34.89 percent, PPP getting the second highest percentage – at 24.89 percent, and PTI getting the third highest percentage of seats in the National Assembly – at 12.11 percent.
In seven experts’ opinion, PML-N will get 30 per cent or above seats – with one of them giving it as high as 44 per cent of seats. Only two experts predict that the party will get less than 30 per cent of seats and none give it below 25 per cent of the seats in the National Assembly.

The highest percentage of seats that PPP may get, according to the experts on the panel, is 35 per cent and the lowest is 18 per cent. Two experts believe that PPP will get less than 20 per cent of the seats and three believe that it will get above 30 percent seats; the rest expect it to win anywhere between 22 per cent and 28 per cent of the seats.

In PTI’s case, the highest percentage of seats it may win, according to two surveyed experts, is 16 per cent. The party’s lowest expected presence in the National Assembly could well be just seven per cent seats, according to one expert. Other experts believe that PTI will win anywhere from 9 per cent to 15 per cent of the seats in the National Assembly.

The results of the survey, being published in the magazine’s special pre-election issue scheduled to hit the newsstands today, also indicate that PML-N will get the highest percentage of votes from among the Hindko-speakers – at 49 per cent, followed by 48 per cent from among Punjabi-speaking voters. Similarly, PPP is likely to get the most percentage of votes from among Sindhi-speakers – at 52 per cent – and from among Seraiki speakers – at 46 per cent.

A rather high percentage of Seraiki-speakers – at 43 per cent – may vote for PML-N, according to the experts.

Among Pashto-speakers, ANP is likely to get the biggest share of votes at 38 per cent, followed by PTI at 35 per cent. For a large number of Baloch voters, the preferred party seems to be BNP-M, with 45 per cent of them likely to vote for that party, the panel predicted. The second highest vote-getter among the Baloch voters could be PML-N, at 32 per cent.

PTI, which is either leading or is seen as being a runner-up in most public opinion surveys, is likely to get the highest percentage of votes only from among the speakers of ‘other’ languages, including the speakers of Kashmiri, Gojiri, and Pothohari languages. Among the Urdu speaking community, however, MQM may take a clear lead by polling 71 per cent of their votes, the survey says.

Nawaz Sharif I can understand; taxis, laptops and whatnot; but why would ANYONE still vote for PPP is beyond me! Paying homage to BB and Zulfi? You did; you paid homage to them for 5 frickin years; your debt to the Bhutto name is over (if they had to pay homage to Zardari for BB's death to begin with
); get on with it; or do they want 5 more years of this torture??

This is in response to the herald poll where PPP is the most popular party in sindh.
 
Sorry but laptops and taxis didnt come from his bank account which only have 5000 rupees acording to ganja. Yes i agree Punjab goverment does spend money on development and the only other goverment who is similar is MQM in Karachi. But still less coruption then interior sindh, KP and Balochistan doesnt mean they should have free hand because they do less.

PTI need to crack interior Sindh in next election.

Now with all the lotas, he will win 40+ seats...

Bhutto ...gave tickets to new (really new) and did the clean sweep (again real clean sweep)

ok let's not get carried away. Butto was in a dictator's cabinet from 1958 till 1967 when he formed his own Political party. This is 9 years.
 
And no Bhutto didn't sweep the elections technically because he failed to win a single seat in East Pakistan. Technically Mujeeb-ur-Rehman should had been given the government. Mujeeb won 160/162 seats in East Pakistan.

ppp was founded in 1967 and he won the election in first try
won again in next election

and won again in next election

we are talking about bhutto here!

read the original question. He asked was Bhutto famous before coming to power? Your answer doesn't make sense. You're saying as if he was a novice before 1967, formed a party and won west Pakistan elections. The answer is simple he was in a dictator's cabinet and that's where he gained his popularity.

again your facts are not completely correct. Under the tenure of the dictator Ayub Khan he held four different ministries with Water and Power minster the first one in 1958. At one time he was considered the right hand of Ayub. Bottom line is he was very famous before he formed his party.

@boded that's not the point. But let's not about whom our nation vote or do not vote. The same nation bowed in front of Zia-ul-haq and called him greatest leader ever!

Again his simple question was: was ZA bhutto famous before coming to power in 1970 and answer is yes he served for a dictator for years.

people do not give you vote for just being famous... :qadir khan
IK lost on 8 out of 8 seats he contested on...

ZAB won election due to his political insight...and convey the message in crystal clean manner...

You r wrong. It was bhutto's idea of two prime minister. It may have started in 57/58, ultimately Bhutto was the reason we lost east pakistan

IF IK is becoming the Pm (and it pains me to say this but that's a big if), PTI will have a big majority in Parliment. They'll figure something out then
 
For these elections I see two scenarios.


PTI failing and winning 12-15 seats

Or
PTI sweeping and winning 90-100 seats.

Like what.....per constitution, one has to take oath from the President. Once you take oath become the PM and have majority, you can then impeach the President, not before it. Sorry but he will have to..... :)

I apologize for missing from action... I have been sick since sat (fever, throat virus) and its not improving...


I do post still.. ik's inactivity due to his injury + party's inactivity due to it doesn't help...

Tomorrow we shall see how things go... and after that it all depwnds on the turnout.

Inshallah a pti clean sweep. ;-)

May be someone else from PTI will take oath, impeach zardari, and then Imran steps in.

He can choose or nominate some other person to become the PM for next few months before Zardari leaves, once Zardari leaves, he can become the PM :)
