Nice batting conditions and if the weather is nice, no excuse. Pakistan need to bat out today and lose no more than 5 wickets. Aim to bat for 5 sessions. We can definitely salvage a draw here.

Batting conditions aren't good because it's projected to rain, and that brings about overcast conditions which the likes of Boult and Southee will become real dangers.
Abbas has a key role tomorrow, he needs to be there as long as he can to blunt the new ball, to make life easier for the likes of Azhar Ali, Fawad Alam, etc.
I agree that we need to bat for as long as we can, because New Zealand have given us the chance to draw the match by batting for long themselves.
If we can draw this match, we can put New Zealand under pressure in the second game, and we would have come out of the game with a learning curve and also hopefully have the services of Babar Azam.
We can then aim to win the series if it depends on one game, and I back us to challenge them. If that's the case, also remember that New Zealand won't go with a flat pitch for the second game, they'll go with the greenest one they can find just to bat us out. We need to be on top of our game. No more loose ends on the team, get rid of Naseem Shah if he can't bowl well. If we can draw this match and win the series, that will go a long way for confidence and for our team.
That being said, we should focus on this game first. New Zealand will operate Southee and Boult for about 18 overs or so to look for any swing, so we need to be very careful. Abbas needs to defend everything if the ball is swinging, and once it stops, he needs to just hit as many runs as he can to give us a boost. I'd prefer if he targeted someone like Jamieson to potentially move him out of the attack.
Abid Ali has a lot on his shoulders, he needs to be there for a long time. We need a big ton from him if we want to draw the game.
An X-ray has confirmed an undisplaced-fracture to Neil Wagner’s fourth right toe, but he has been cleared to play by a doctor - providing he can he can tolerate the pain.
Wagner will need to warm-up fully this morning before a final call is made.

No rain prediction bro...![]()
And we never learn, we may play even 100 overs but will score only 220 and not 320 then nz add quick 220 and give us 400 target in 4 sessions and then typical choke job. Rinse and repeat , spending time without scroing even at 3 rpo is criminal. But they will never laern. This pitch is flat as a pancake...the only issue is if we just keep blocking the scoring isnt moving
blocking is good for now..
but im afraid do Misbah even have a plan?
not sure who is the tailender here..
both looks same to me ..
Abbas leaves better though
Even Nz commies having fun at expense of our approach.
Southee is trying hard to compete with Abbas' average speed here.
Nothing wrong with this approach for at least the first 40 overs to wear down the seamers, but yes after that they'll need to be more proactive.

Sadly i have also watched srcript play too otften by Pak batting. You wil see again. I can excuse poor execution if atleast plan is good but not this only block for whole day plan even on pancake.Did u not watch nz first innings?

160 in nxt 50 overs at 3.1 , too much aggression.True. At minimum should be over 200 before the 2nd new ball, around 250 or so would be ideal.
I like how Abid Ali is able to change his batting style from aggressive to defensive, this tour could really make him into a test star.
Abbass mentally stronger than bull too.
I would love to watch this tuk tuk all the day..
I’m glad Kane Williamson isn’t a Pakistani. After his innings yesterday we would be comparing him to Sami Aslam.
What is the plan here? So defensive.
