Fans deserve some of the credit for this dismissal though

We've made Shahid Afridi a national hero because of his batting style

All the young batsmen emerging from Pakistan want the same popularity and quite frankly, few can pull it off.

Yes it is Afridi's fault that Jr played like that.

:))) :))) :))) :)))

This game aint over yet, one must wait until a fat lady opens her gob and starts to sing.

hes only played 6 test matches....
surprising how u people are crying ..hes only 20 and will learn with time..chill out

Yep and in 4 of those Test matches (so 8 innings) he has donated his wicket to Australian team. I don't know if we have actually got him out yet with a good ball.

Umar Amin my other fav Pakistani bat after Butt looking solid as a rock, if he can now somehow hit a 100........
he may not have time to make a 100 but I can see him carrying the bat since we have a long tail of muppets to come in

I dont think our tail can bat like theirs so we just have 2 batsman's left.

LOL pori bari :D why not akhir bat ball bhi to wo apne ghar say laya hay :D uski bati to pori hogi hi.

But what do we expect when manager of the team keeps telling him that he is the next Viv Richards? The kid is already over-confident, what is the need for saying things like that? No wonder Mudassar kicked him out of the NCA a few years ago bc he kept giving his wicket away? He should be dropped for the 2nd test just to get this point across otherwise he'll ruin his career.

I know it was a bad shot but come on cut him some slack if our captain played like that in the first innings what has he got to say to Akmal? Any way I think he's one of the best players in the line up and you guys will start praising him again in the next test when he makes about 76 off 90 balls. :)

cannot believe i woke up for this...5 hours of sleep after a 11 hour drive..still got up to watch Pakistan..and wat does Umar Akmal do..

I thinks it time to leave Umar Akmal alone - The ball was there to spanked to the boundary but it just bounced that little bit more - Yes it was nearly lunch but on another day that could have sped to the boundary and we'd all be singing his praise...

He's 19 years old and is a fine prospect for Pakistan..But i think people are forgetting this and treating him like a seasoned test match batsman...Lets keep some perspective

The same comments were made when Imran Nazir was 19. Look what happened to him. I dont care If hes 12 years old, playing a shot like that 3 balls before lunch is just plain stupidity at the highest level

No. There was absolutely no need to touch that ball under these circumstances. If MoYo and YK were around I would not be critical of him, but in their absence he is our best bat, and he needs to know that and play like it with responsibility.

Akmal has finished one match. Pakistan were chasing 190ish against SA at Port Elizabeth in 07' when Pak were 92/5 I think....He alongwith Younus put on 100 runs and won that game for us...

So,the temperament is there..:akmal....

His is not 19. He himself said in Australia he is in his '20s'. This is a fact. My guess is that he's 23-24. Take pakistani dobs with a pinch of salt. But when the player HIMSELF says he in his 20s...... is there any doubt.

Main problem though is........he's rubbish. He's Afridi mark 2. A slogger.

Sorry but Imrani Nazir at 19 was not a patch on Umar...There is a vast difference in techniques!

Yet results are similar. Both throwing their wickets away.

So its all good to have a slog 3 balls before lunch. My point is that the coach should have a real go at Akmal and make sure he doesnt turn into a slogger. This is a test match for crying out loud not a back street tape ball tennis game at night

i would rather prefer they play like this than take wild shots ...tuk tuk cricket is the way forward from here ...1's & 2's .....thats all we need to do....

I am postponing my lunch, i refuse to eat unless pakistan get themselves in a matchwinning position!!!!!

HAHA, Kepp postponing because they never going to get themselves in that position, they lack teh mental strength which is needed in test cricket

honestly, i would have never thought they are going to chase 440 especially with that line up, but the thing im shocked about is our batsmen give wickets to bowlers who dont expect a wicket, or atleast no one expects them to get one, HATS of to Pontings thinking, i think he know these pankees ( my name for pakistani team) , will slog few, but will eventually give their wicket themselves

what a stupudity and inexperience shown by umar, i dont blame BUTT in anyway, at least he did try to slog it over the field, maybe just lost his balance and unfortunate.

i feel sorry for myself and all teh pakistani fans

Ok Kamran we will let you hit 3 nice fours...and maybe 1 six. Then hand over your wicket sonny!

Let's get captain brave out there, unless he want to hide behind 19 year old bowler...

:aamir is 18......!!

We were all scared of making Smith look like Shane Warne, but we've made North look like Murali!

6 test matches...If he doesnt learn from this over the next 6 test matches then sure we can tear him apart...But right now we need to bakc him and hope that he learns to curve that aggressive instinct...

There is nothing more to be said on this simply because the bloke has more talent then any youngster on the scene and it would be extremely foolish to drop him after failures in two test matches...

Ponting moves in to silly point. Umar Amin has a chance to become a hero. Smack a ball right on to Ponting's face or knee.

:O :O :O :O TAKE THAT BACK!!

I don't know why, but Kamran makes me very nervous when he bats in a test match.

Even when he's past 100, I always feel like he's going to get out next ball.

Listen sonny, our captain might not be the best in the world, but he is surely brave, not like ponting, put out his elbow to a 18/19 year old teenager who got his wicket , shame on him!! :aamir

If he so brave why is the wicket keeper out there? :13:

FOUR!

Nice and delicate. Need more of those shots - no risk involved whatsoever

Pakistan have done half the score on 4 wickets. Which means that they will win the match with 2 wickets :)

This is excellent from Pakistan considering their best previous 4th innings total was 317. And also considering they got 148 in the first innings. Well done.
