On Day 1 it has undoubtedly been India's day. Despite losing the toss and being asked to bowl first, they responded effectively by dismissing England for 246. While a few batsmen got starts, only Stokes managed to pass fifty, scoring 70 runs, with most runs coming in partnership with the tail to help England post a competitive score.

The term 'Bazball' was frequently mentioned leading up to the match, and India successfully implemented their tactics, particularly against the inexperienced Tom Hartley. Jaiswal took advantage, hitting a first-ball six and two more in Hartley's initial over, leaving the left-arm spinner struggling and conceding 63 runs in his 8 overs. Although Leach was impressive and took the only wicket to fall, India finished the day at 119 for 1, trailing by 127 runs.

They are optimistic about a solid batting performance on Day 2, giving them control of the match. For England, a disciplined effort and sustained pressure will be crucial if they aim to mount a comeback. Jaiswal, in particular, will be eager for a substantial innings.

It's senseless to lose all your reviews with just 1 opposition wicket on board.
 
Batting will become tougher every passing over ..Let's see Indian batsman can handle spin challenge.
Yashasvi should continue his dominating batting and shubman need to stay calm.
Hundred run lead is minimum requirement as fourth innings will be alot tougher..
 
England needs to stop Jaisball in the first few overs of the day to minimize damage and gain a possible lead in the match.
 
England will really have their work cut out getting back into this. Jaiswal was still looking pretty good out there, Iyer is easily the best player of spin in the Indian team and while Rahul is uncertain and Bharat is unproven, the 3 musketeers have been brilliant against opposition spinners the last few years.

If India make it past 300 with 5 or less down, that's more or or less the end of the match. We've been in that position so many times with opposition shoulders drooping, they know how to grind the visitors down and close all avenues of escape.
 
Unfortunately India doesn't have horse for courses policy. In Indian conditions there are certain guys play better than the regulars. Mayank Agarwal, Sarfraz.. Gill when he started played domestic cricket brilliantly. He took apart every bowling. But once he moved to internationals his game against spin became horrible.
 
Ind needs to bat big and try to bat only once. Batting 4th is not going to be easy. Plus with klrahul jadeja bharat as batsmen - good luck chasing any decent score in the 4th innings

Gill need to look at how jaiswal is playing . jaiswal is playing shots so spinners cant settle against him . Gill is going to in shell means Bowlers are dominating him .

Jaiswal got carried away there.

They definitely missed an opportunity with Root yesterday.
 
1st session is very important for england, this could make or break the game for them

Jaiswal is in Pant's territory. Pant despite tremendous average in Australia could have had even greater average but for throwing away his wicket countless times. But that worked for him. Jaiswal is a bit like him. He will continue taking chances and in the process gifting wickets.
 
After these 2 there is KL Rahul and then Bharat who no one rates as a batsman and finally the dangerous Jadeja.

This is a red HOT chance for England
 
India has no more lefties until Axar and Jadeja. Their left arm spinners can have some breathing space
 
That goes down as a drop by wicketkeeper Foakes... A tough one but one he would perhaps expect to have gobbled up.

Ashwin, Jaddu and Axar are proper batsmen in Indian conditions. All of them are much better than Bharat and Iyer.
 
India's real batting starts at Axar. This was the same story against Australia as well. Then Ashwin and Axar added 100 runs.
 
Tuk tuk tentative mental midget klrahul is in.. he will make the pitch look like a minefield. And make Hartley and root look like Shane warne
 
This kind of utter defensive batting usually ends up in fall of wicket.
 
This is a road to nowhere. You can't grind your way here. Even average bowler can get one on rough to do something.
 
Gill is out of form and low in confidence. He knows that a low score here will put his position in danger. Can’t remember the last time he played an impactful innings.
 
Rahul didn't hit a four for 20 odd overs in ODI final lol This is test mat ch. Not sure when he will hit a four

After Gabba nothing. Axar played more meaningful knocks.
 
INdian batting should be embarrassed of themselves if they don't take some sort of lead against this attack. Even on this track they should be able to negotiate these pie chuckers. But we can't trust our batsmen.

This is the weakest Indian batting line up I have ever seen. Before the start of the game the batter with the highest average was Rohit at average of 45
 
Rahul – dropped on nought by wicketkeeper Foakes off Root – is getting into his work now, sweeping Root behind square on the leg-side for four. India’s deficit will soon be reduced to double figures.
 
This is a very important innings in Gill’s career. If he scores big, he will carry the confidence forward and cement his spot in the team.
If Gill fails, there are many in India A team that can take his spot.

England had spin bowlers Tufnell, Ian salisbury, John Emburey for 1993 tour to India. Kambli, Tendulkar, Azhar, Sidhu thrashed the living daylights out of that attack. Those were absolute minefield pitches. Compared to this bowling that unit looked ATG unit. Only advantage these guys have is DRS. One would think teams will destroy this bowling.

IT is not confidence. It is technique. He is so much used to batting on true wickets where you can feel every ball and get away. On these two wickets your hand eye reaction is important. You can't plonk your frontfoot for every length.
 
Kevin Pietersen, during commentary also questions why Root is not still bowling as Leach comes on instead, offers up a full toss and is whipped through midwicket for four by Gill.

That shot was a sign of aggression from Gill, something KP has also been calling for after too many dots.

Man that was some series.. it was a proper hammering after the disastrous 92 tour to eng. Proper revenge series. That eng team never hated the subcontinent more lol 🙂

Gill can accelerate any time but now need to build a partnership and take game away from England in first innings itself.
Run rate is not a issue as gane is not going to 5th day. Enough time left
Any mistake can start collapsed from here.

If it is technique, then his days are numbered. We already saw that he is a sitting duck in SENA countries. Now he can’t even play spin.

1st session of day 2 - no need to be in a reckless hurry . A 125-150 lead would be very handy as Ind bat last here .
 
Good to see two matches going exactly at the same time. Green drops a sitter there of cummins.

Saw that in bangladesh first. He didn't pick left arm spinners angle. He is a prime lbw candidate. Just keep targeting the pads. He will let one go through. Irony is there are 10 batsmen better than him against spin. Worn out Mayank Agarwal would thrash these spinners eyese closed.
 
Not watching it live. But i see a lot of criticism against England spinners (like worst bowling ever). Are they that bad and unthreatening?

India has invested so much in Gill. If he goes Prithvi Shaw’s way, India will be in trouble.
 
ON cue. Holed out Third gifted wicket. England will pick all their wickets with these poor shot selection. That is how Moeen Ali won a series for them.
 
At this point I would pick Washington sundar over Gill.
Sundar is very good against spin and he can be dangerous bowler in these conditions.
 
Scoring 300 plus seems to be a very difficult sight. Batters are gifting wickets.
 
It would be hilarious if KL Rahul denies single when wood is on and frustrate root :) They have only one seamer.
