Second Test between Australia (445 & 89/7d) and India (260 & 8/0) ends in a draw as the 5-match series is level 1-1

Has ravi said that ? If so he is the first one to acknowledge from Mumbai pr Mafia.
Will Ritika now lay onto Shastri too like she did into Sunny?

These wives commenting on behalf of their spouses on cricketing matters infuriates me no end.

What a dud this Rohit has become. Such a terrible Test batsman and age has certainly caught up to him. Sure he can hit big on Limted Overs Cricket. But Tests need lots of concentration and fitness. He is done. He should be dropped midway through the series here.

Kohli is also done. I don't know what more evidence BCCI needs to see from this has been. Plays terrible shots and chases deliveries wide outside off stump like a Cheetah chasing a Gazelle. A few more series where Kohli keeps failing like the way he has been for the past few years, his averahe will fall to low 40's. He will be considered in the same bracket as somebody like David Boon.

Media asks these emotional women stupid questions. Like true Desi Naaris, they will defend their husband from all sorts of criticism.

Not sure if Anushka too gets such treatment from media but credit to her, she never defends Kohli like this.

Australia needs to find a solid opening pair. Khawaja should consider retirement, and Sweeney doesn’t seem to have what it takes. Marsh appears to be in the team largely due to his father’s influence. The Aussie selection panel is no different from other boards—seniority culture exists even in the baggy green. Hazlewood immediately replacing Boland is a prime example.

Rahul throws it away. Looked set for a 100.

India will be lucky to score 200 from here. Lets see if Reddy produces some fireworks and drags India past 200.

If media has guts they would ask rohit kohli questions

@Vikram1989

No man. I am in airlee Beach. And it's hot as here.

I am not even counting this as a win for aus. Kl chokes as usual. Rohit kohli and siraj shouldn't play

Gambhir's services are not required as well.
Gambhir is out done by kohli and rohit in both test matches and odi's .gambhir enhanced t20 team very well. We should give gambhir another chance in eng series in july.He will have enough time to ponder about his decisions and will have a fully organised team .Rohit may have not listened to gambhir/morkel anything on the ground as his career is on line.

Pathetic from Rohit, Gill and Kohli. This pitch is not that tough. There is no reason for India to not bat for 80 overs and score 300. But the top order blew away any chance of that.

Jadeja is batting well now and the pitch doesn’t have any major demons but there is a follow-on pressure and tailenders to come next which will make Cummins and co interested. The next session holds key because the ball is old and India need to find a way to clear the deficit or spend time and bat til tea. Jadeja and Reddy should focus on clearing the deficit and tailenders would be required to spend time. An inning of 3(40) would help if it comes from a Bumrah or any other tailender.

This is called discipline something KOhli, Rohit can never do

79 needed to avoid follow on? Will these two bat to waste as much time as they can or try to bat fast and avoid follow on?

Australia won’t take the follow on even if they can, they are already one bowler short , doesn’t make sense to tire your two pacers.

Rain helps but the middle order needs to be questioned for such poor batting performance.
I think we can Play good cricket without Rohit and kohli.

Young india will be motivated to perform better as they are without star players ( but now liability) who gets all tbe attention even without performing.

Bumrah should be captain for remaining test if we want to win the series otherwise no chance under Rohit clueless captaincy.

I believe otherwise. They will get Lyon to bowl more. If they don't enforce the follow on - it is a guaranteed draw. But if they do - they have a shot at winning

No option for them as Rain threats is looms over rest of the match .

Only chance for them to win the test if they enforce the follow on and bundled out india in next 60-70 overs ( 2nd innings) ( Weather permitting)

This time it went to new heights.with Dhoni it was pathetic and now it's shameless, spineless from all the ends
True.

Srini bowed in front of Dhoni for obvious reasons.

There is no justification for present regime to imitate and even surpass Srini.

Fresh injury concern for Australia provides doubt on victory push

A potential big blow for the Aussies as they push hard for victory in the third Test against India at the Gabba.
Australia's bid for victory in the third Test against India has taken a blow with experienced seamer Josh Hazlewood hurting his calf on the fourth day.

Hazlewood bowled just one over during the first session on Tuesday aftr reporting an issue in the warm-up, with an Australian spokesperson confirming the right-armer was taken from the field due to 'calf awareness'.

"Josh Hazlewood reported calf awareness in this morning’s warm-up," Australia confirmed via a statement.

"He will be taken for scans to assess the injury.

"Any updates will be shared in due course."

The 33-year-old will be sent for scans on the affected area and his availability for the remainder of the Brisbane Test and the rest of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series will be determined in due course.

Hazlewood only just returned from a side issue that forced him to miss Australia's 10-wicket victory in Adelaide, with fellow pacer Scott Boland making way for the crucial third Test of the series at the Gabba as both teams press for a place in next year's ICC World Test Championship final.

Australia and India are locked at 1-1 in the five-match series, with both teams still to this point in the running for a World Test Championship Final spot, to be played at Lord's in June 2025.

I don't think India will escape here. Small breaks are enough for australia. Given the form of some of the batsmen they just need 40 overs of play totally.

Why are they even playing Kohli and Rohit?

It's time to retire.

Same reason Dhoni played for longer than his expiry date.

Rohit and Kohli has hundreds of crores riding on them by corporates, that’s why they continue to play in national team in both ODI and Tests.

Indian team needs to groom the next superstar to take over the corporate equation and then these guys will be thrown under the bus.

It’s all about the money.

Yeah, this also applies.

The problem is that Aus has just two bowlers to bowl with the new cherry, if one misses the mark, it will be a certain draw.

Hopefully our Top order doesn’t mess up again.

Given that Australia is heavily reliant on Travis Head, they shaved off all the grass from what was shown as a 'green mamba' just days ago. This was clearly done to neutralize Bumrah and create a flat pitch with some bounce. They likely hinted to Pat Cummins to bat first if he won the toss, knowing the opposition would be tempted to bowl first under overcast conditions. Either way, Australia got exactly what they wanted: the advantage of batting first on a flat surface..

All India needed to do was replicate what the Aussie batsmen did I.e avoid anything outside off-stump, blunt the attack early, and cash in later. Instead, they threw away their chances with reckless shots. On pitches like these, there’s no real LBW threat due to the extra bounce..

Had the pitch been the 'green mamba' they hyped up earlier, Australia would likely have been restricted to 180-200. India—true to recent struggles—might still have been 100-5. in that case, the gap between the two batting lineups would have been much narrower..

If Australia prepares a green wicket for the next match at Melbourne, they'll only be leveling the playing field, which plays right into India’s hands. With Bumrah and Shami (if available), India’s chances will significantly improve.

Need to bat till tea. Don’t let the second inning start before tea. That’s bare minimum needed.

Play will resume at 2:10 pm .just 5 minutes from now .

Excellent drainage system @Vikram1989 @Rajdeep .

If this match was played in india/ Pakistan we would have read the news about next inspection will be in 1 hour and so on.

Aus has 70 odd runs to take 4 wickets. No reason to not pick up the last 4 wickets before India get those runs.

Aus needs to push for a win here. Tail is here.

Hazelwood injury is can save india if we would have batted little bit longer in 1st inning.

But we are only batted for 50 over only so far and 10 over max from now so 60 overs is not enough to tired them

Only way Australia winning this is by enforcing the follow on. If India avoids it then it will be all over. They won't have enough time to bat and set tartget for India as there is more rain expected tomorrow.
If there is more rain expected then it is 100% draw.

Meanwhile wonderful batting Jadeja, delivered when it mattered most

After a delayed start to the second session, the players are running out to the field of play to resume play!

Bangalore and Eden have amazing facilities. Bcci will give 500 crores each year to each association and its associates "wish" or corruption level to improve infrastructure

Australia don't have time to force a result and without Hazelwood its not possible. India lives to fight another day with a draw. Australia won't get lucky again. India will bounce back at MCG and Sydney

It was a almost guaranteed loss but Rahul and Jadeja have kept the game alive. Jadeja is playing like a proper batsmen and leaving the ball. He did same in last series in Aus.

Still 60 odd runs left for Aus to pick up the last 4 wickets and push for a win.

I did not spot any, but then I was not watching all overs.
In rainy or wet conditions, reverse swing is unlikely because the ball cannot develop the roughness needed for airflow manipulation. Moisture reduces friction, so the ball doesn't wear down naturally through the pitch or outfield.

Yah, it's hard to reverse it in these conditions.

But Aus needs to get rid of Jadeja and these 60 runs will be plenty of runs.

Jadeja looks solid so far, but he tends to throw his wicket away once he's settled, much like Rahul. His bowling has been poor, though. It'll be interesting to see who gets picked for the next two Tests between Ashwin, Sundar, and Jadeja.

What a lucky team this india is.

Australia will feel hard done by. It was a sure defeat for pathetic india.

Given the nature of the pitch, a draw was always on the cards, but the Indian batsmen lacked discipline and threw their wickets away unnecessarily making it difficult for themselves.

Looks like a long break now.hope we should get another 1 or 1.5 hours break and close the play with out any loss of wickets.then we should be good for tomorrow.

Gill , Virat and Jaiswal were out by chasing the 6-7th stump's ball instead leaving.

On the bouncy pitches Never Play cover drive / Off drive by chasing outside the off stump Balls instead wait for bowlers to bowl with in range .
