Sri Lanka v India l 2nd Test l Galle | 31/07/08 to 04/08/08 (IND win by 170 runs)

Mendis completes his century. But managed to get 4 wkts. good to see Sehwag is able to score against him freely.

Srilanka has exhausted all their review options for this innings. Good for the indian tailenders.

India has exhausted all its batting.

Hang on- Sehwag is still there. :)

pathetic, absolutely pathetic

had it not been for sehwag the score would read 100 all out

now harbhajan out, and sehwag stuck on 190 with partners running out.

sri lanka are back in this game, if it wasnt for sehwag, then boy o boy india would have been struggling

somehow if india reaches 350 i will be happy. it is a good score on this pitch

sehwag got the benefit as the reviews were exhausted . :)

As per cricinfo he had edged one to keeper.

You should blame Dravid, Ganguly and Tendulkar. Gambhir and Laxman did OK as a support job to Sehwag (who, even I have to say, has played superbly). But those three batsmen have cost you the game, in all likelihood.

I don't know Dhonifan - I think the Lankan batsmen will do well on this pitch. Like I said, you should blame your three middle-order batsmen for throwing away this game.

I wish we had some more FTBs :)

:) I think he is an FTB but in this innings he has played very well - even I can't deny it. Fair play to Sehwag.

For once I agree with you Cars. Though no one gives Laxman his due AT ALL.

Time to chuck out Dravid and Gangu of the team.. Big T deserves another chance though.

of course I'm blaming them. the 'pathetic' part was meant for dravid, tendu, gangu, karthik and kumble. to a certain extent even laxman who could have easily stuck on till lunch

but as for lankan batsmen doing well...lets wait and watch. bhaji might be the key here :)

I have not seen Sehwag's inning but looking at the score of 194 out of team's 322 seem mighty good effort from the FTB.

Well done FTB err... I mean Sehwag

I will agree with you too on this.

I think not playing in ODIs and age is making an effect on these 4 now.

Switch - basically, Gambhir put on 167 with Sehwag and Laxman 100 - so they played their parts. Dravid, Tendulkar and Ganguly not only fell early, but spent no time at the crease at all. If, for example, Dravid had spent 50 balls at the crease, Sehwag may have added a lot of runs in that time.

Hence all the blame goes to those three.

zaheer goes trying to hit a 6, managing to only sky one high to jaya

man, this is a comedy. come on viru, just hit a 6 and get it over with!

that was needless from zaheer!

325 on this pitch is a par score imo , but we will have to bowl well & take our catches this time ....we cud endup with a lead of 50-75 here !

our no 11 avgs 37.5 lol

78.4 Muralitharan to Khan, OUT, With Sehwag needing five runs for his double hundred, Zaheer throws his wicket away with a slog sweep. It was the doosra and the top edge took the ball straight up and the 'keeper takes the catch.
Z Khan c HAPW Jayawardene b Muralitharan 2 (7b 0x4 0x6) SR: 28.57

What? Atleast these guys should let Sehwag complete his 200. Forget about scoring big.

I have a feeling, call it a hope if you like, that SL will struggle on this pitch but we have thrwon away a chance to capitalise on Sehwag's great knock.

Typical Indian fan.. always picking on the poor, non-flashy laxman and trivializing his contributions :po:

well played ishant !

btw shewag is one player who wudnt be too bothered even if he is left stranded at 199 ...the guy just dosent care about records !

that was so unselfish of him not taking a single there ...hats off to him!

80.3 Muralitharan to Sehwag, no run, goes back to cut a spinning off break to the off side and to cover point and he refuses the single! he doesn't want to expose Ishant . He could have taken the 200 , though

Who will deny a single at this point? Good example as he wants to play as much time as possible.

laxman's been our best test batsmen for last 18months or so & I dunno how any one can deny that ?

329 all out

Excellent performance from Lanka on a flat pitch - 6 for Mendis, 14 in his first 3 Test innings! Wow.

As for India - one man show.

True, else the score line would have been 140 all out. :pissed:

My prediction is that SL wil score about 430 runs so a lead of about 100 runs.

why is Ganguly moving like a geriatric...ball is tapped to him, he picks it up on the third try, missing a potential run out

Lol this Karthik is the second best wicket keeper in India?

Can he bat? Not on current evidence

Can he keep? Not on current evidence

What the hell is he doing in the side? He is like Kamran Akmal without the batting.

:)) :))

Not to mention Parthiv "can't catch a cold" Patel as the other alternative

Dinesh Krapich?

Harbhajan Singh to Sangakkara, 1 run, Stumping chance missed by Karthik. Sangakkara was beaten in the flight, it dipped and went through the bat and pad gap and Karthik grabbed at it and didn't collect it.

Can someone please shoot me so I dont have to keep watching this :po: :po: ..

Now you know what we've gone through for about 2 years...but at least Akmal scored some runs.

Yeah the transition without Dhoni has been seamless :))) :)))

126/1 - superb stuff from the Lankans. Just 203 behind with 9 wickets in hand. Look set for a massive total.

50 for Warnapura...of just 54 balls!

Decent bat this bloke, another good find.

Get Malinga back and maybe one more class batsman and they are a very very good team anywhere.

Who has the joy of playing them next?

Frustration for India right now, a missed stumping, catch and run out so far. Sri Lanka cruising and India need a wicket or two.

I'd like to see him against a team with decent fast bowlers before passing judgment. So far he's only played Bangladesh, India and the West Indies. Still, can't fault his start.

They do need another batsman, especially someone who can succeed away from home. However, as long as Murali continues for a few years, they can get away with some less then stellar batting because that Murali-Mendis combination will roll teams over fairly often.

BTW has Murali mentioned anything of how long he wants to play recently?

Catching, stumping, run outs...these all come down to fielding and India are one of the worst fielding units in the world. They are also one of the weaker bowling sides around, which makes for a pretty poor combination on flat pitches.

Contrast that with SL - brilliant bowling, slick fielding, sharp keeping - different galaxy to the lethargic Indians

India doesnt deserve to claw their way back after showing such a pathetic display... This series would be better if we go down 3-0 hopefully it will mean permanent curtains for Dravid & Ganguly.

So true, but take them out of Sri Lanka and they look like a Fart in the wind :)) ...I think thats the case for your current Pakistani lots as well :)) ..

India back into the game with those two quick wickets. Sri Lanka 144/3.

Sorry I meant decent find for Sri Lanka. May not be world class but they desperately need some half decent batting support for Sanga & Mahela.

Well 3-0 is looking possible Romali.

Take Sehwag out and that is 3 absolutely awful batting performances in a row.

A tight run-out appeal.
Indians will feel unlucky to have been denied this one.

It is going to be very interesting test. Sri Lanka HAS to take 100+ lead to win.
